If you're going to Kona, I recommend Pele's Paradise condo.
I have been to Kona a dozen times staying in our timeshare condo and resorts but all that changed after staying in Pele's Paradise condo in Kona... wonderful two bedroom condo in a unique small condo complex. The setting is tranquil. On the golf course with ocean views. It's a quiet complex with a pool and since a lot of the owners are full time residents it's a very friendly place. Alii Drive and Kona town is a very short 3 minute drive so all restaurants and beach areas are easily within reach. And the price is very reasonable.

The place was perfect - tastefully decorated, very clean, beautiful view above the golf course with plenty of ocean view in the distance, and enough greenery to attract beautiful birds every morning - a definite treat when sipping coffee on the lanai while planning your day.
The location is a bit south of Kona so for the bar hopping types, this may not be the place for you. We found the location to be awesome - very close to several hot snorkeling spots and just a short walk to the Keauhou bay where many snorkeling/dive/fishing tours leave from.
The grocery store in Kona is less than 2 miles up the road.
We will be coming back as this truly is "Pele's Paradise"!
