We purchase our condo in May 2010 and had it completely renovated and redecorated. EVERYTHING IS BRAND NEW! Even the windows and sliding door are new with dual paned glass.
The unit is a ground level, small 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom condominium in a low rise (2 story) complex located one mile south of downtown Kailua-Kona. A very easy walk takes you to all the activities. Even if you don't need the second bedroom it is a nice room to read or take an afternoon nap, and we have priced our unit to provide affordable vacation accommodations.

Our stay at Doug and Evies Kona Shores condo was all that we could have hoped for.We had a delay in our flight so did not arrive until well after midnight. It was so nice to be able to just take a shower and crash in soft, clean comfy beds.The condo was well appointed with all we could have hoped for right down to coffee for breakfast and blow dryer for the teenage girls.
All the residents of the community that we met were very helpful and full of informatin to help us have the best time ever.It was nice to sit on the lanai and just hang out and enjoy a nice quiet cup in the a.m. The pool was very clean and it was nice to be at the pooland almost feel like you were on the beach with the ocean waves crashing on the shore.All in all this condo has our seal of the best of the best! This was the first time I have rented a condo for a vacation and so I really didn't know what to expect...I was wary, to say the least. But when we arrived at Kailua-Kona, it was easy to find and I was very impressed with what we found! Not only was it pleasantly decorated and comfortable, the appliances and other kitchen tools were in extremely good condition. Overall, the complex was quiet and well-maintained. The permanent residents of the complex were very friendly and we felt very safe there. The location was excellent - not too close, and not too far from the center of the tourist action. Good walking distance to town center and reasonable access to everything we were interested in visiting. I absolutely loved the modest, yet well-cared for space. It was so much better than my past experiences in hotel resorts. I highly recommend renting this condo.

This place was really nice. The beds were comfortable, it was close to 'town' and had everything you need while you stayed there. Our only complaints were things out of the owner's control. Young children (or child) upstairs would constantly run...no...stomp everywhere like he was wearing shoes made of brick. Running, running, running all the time. One night we got to listen to him/her cry for hours and the next morning, bright and early, more running. This is no fault of the owner of this condo. The other nuisance was the bugs. There are roaches (as on every Hawaiian island) and ants that will attack any food they can get to. We did not leave any on the counters in the kitchen but we learned that we needed to take the trash out to the dumpster every night. Again, this was no fault of the owners. The pool here is very nice. I thought it was generous of the owners to have beach towels available. We did a load of laundry in the complex's laundry room and there was a laundry basket and detergent provided at the condo. They also have free wi-fi but no phone. Overall the owners have gone above and beyond expectations. We would recommend this place to friends.

We have had a very nice stay in this 2 bedroom condo. The appartment had everything you would need. It was clean and cozy. I can see it was remodeled. Both bedrooms had nice beds, good size for 2 people. Lanai was very nice, spacious with table, nice to sit for breakfast/lunch. Boards, beach umbrella were available for use as well. First day we arrived we enjoyed the complex swimming pool as we were tired to go anywhere. It had a very nice view. The location of appartment was conviniently close to few beaches around as well as to small downtown with shops/restaurants. In short I give 5 stars out of 5.

We enjoyed our 2 wk. stay in this condo. Furnishings were new and clean,. Kitchen had all new dishes and accessories. Any concerns were taken care of quickly. Owners very pleasant and helpful with planning activities and knowledge of area. We would return again. -

We stayed at this condo for 8 days at the end of august/beginning of September. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about Kona Shores! We knew to expect a nice place from the photos and reviews online but couldn't believe how much nicer the condo was in person! For one thing, the condo was absolutely fully loaded. There was not a single time we needed anything that wasn't at the condo - they even had water toys! The kitchen was beautiful and again fully loaded with everything we could have needed. The beds were beyond comfortable (I haven't slept that well in years!) and all of the furnishings were extremely comfortable. The decor was beautiful, the whole condo was absolutely spotless, and the wifi was a huge plus for us. We never used the condo's shared grill but we did use the pool which was beautiful with a gorgeous ocean view. Location was great, minutes from beautiful beaches and shopping. Really, what more could we say? We would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone and we hope to be back as soon as possible.

We had a wonderful stay at this condo! It was comfortable, clean and close to downtown. It's a cute unit including new furnishings, as well as stocked with all the amenities a traveler needs. It's a short walk to the pool located next to the ocean with a great view! I would highly recommend this unit. I look forward to staying there again very soon!

Good location, just far enough out of Kona to avoid the downtown congestion but you can get there quickly if you want to. Condo was clean and quiet with everything needed including new appliances, cook ware and dishes. We would not hesitate to rent again.

I had a wonderful 2 weeks stay at Doug and Evie's fantastic condo. Super nice people and a great, very well appointed unit. It is a great location, not far from the water, pool and BBQ grill. The complex is very well kept up and the condo looks brand new when you go inside. I felt right at home as soon as I walked inside. The place is well stocked with everything right down to laundry soap and room deodorizer.Thank you both very much for the opportunity to have such a great place to stay for my visit.

A wonderfully comfortable place, with 2 great bedrooms, one opening onto lanai with dining table.
Supplies in bath and kitchen were much more than expected, even some food staples like olive oil and Kona coffee! And beach / picnic supplies. Location was in walking distance to town of Kona, along main beach road. Lots of ceiling fans and a/C (which we did not need). Great for 4-5 people.

The condo was very nice the location was great just close enough for a few minutes drive without all the traffic and noise from the village. The lava rock shore line was great for exploring tide pools and for wave watching. There was construction in the pool area and the pool was on the cool side but once yo got use to it it was ok.
The only inconvience may have been the small bathroom but how much time do you really spend in there. We enjoyed our time there nd are looking for a place for next winter already -

Highly recommend this unit, with updated island flair, homey feeling with calming island colors and gorgeous art work. Has all the necessaties plus extras such as beach chairs and coolers. We especially enjoyed sunsets at the pool and the the barbeque area. Walking distance to downtown Kona for dining, shopping and adventure including deep sea fishing, parasailing and more. Day trip to Volcano and rain forest. Shari and I will return.

The condo was easy to find, accessible to town, quiet,and when you went to the pool you had a gorgeous view of the sunsets. Everything was updated and there were some extras in the condo to use (shampoo/beach items/fluffy towels) the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was nicely equipped better than some other condos. And affordable!! We definitely will stay there again & recommend this condo!!
