ChicagoAmazing!

This penthouse condo was amazing! It offers plenty of space with two large bedrooms and 2 large full baths, but my favorite part of the condo was the terrace. We sat out there at night and watched the sun go down and then had our morning coffee out there in the morning and watched the whales and dolphins jumping! The condo was spotless when we arrived and the kitchen had everything we needed. Parking is free and right down stairs. The pool area is nice. The ocean is literally right across the street. I also liked this location because it is a very short drive to all the restaraunts in Kona, but it's far enough away so that it's very quiet at night.
It's also very close to shopping, a grocery store, the highway, and all of the amazing beaches on the Kona side of the island.
Another big perk of this place is the in-unit washer and dryer.
Wonderful place to stay! -

This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Beach Villas
This was the best appointed apartment yet, we liked the furniture and decorations. Everything worked well, we liked the penthouse too, but were glad to have the elevator to haul up our heavy dive equipment
Very minor concerns
- not enough beach towels
- a few more basic supplies in the kitchen would be useful (spices, sweeteners).
- no good place to store dry foods.
These are very minor and we would choose this apartent again for our next trip (hopefully soon) -

A lovely condo just across ali Drive from the beach park. Convenient shopping just up the road and only 10 minutes to the central restaurant district. The "no earlier than 4PM checkin" rule is a little inconvenient, so you need to take this into account in your travel plans. No elevator access so pack light.

We love the Kahaluu Beach Villas! I think this was our 4th time staying at Kahaluu. The condos are always spotless. They are well-organized and comfortable. We've stayed in several different condos. All the condos have the same amenities (different color schemes) and private lanais with terrific views. Penthouse 301 in building 2 has fluffy colored towels (a nice change from typical white) that smell good - none of the musty scent that towels get when they don't dry quickly in tropical environments. The bamboo beach mat provided was larger and sturdier than the usual beach mats, and the beach towels looked new. I like the large ceramic plate/dish on the kitchen counter - I used it as a catch-all for keys, phones, sunscreen, etc. - everything we needed to grab and go in one place. Each condo has two sliding doors that open onto the lanai - one from the master and one from the main room - so you can get a good cross breeze going. The lanai is private and has an amazing view across alii Drive to Kahaluu Beach. The pool is very nice, also has a great view, and the hot tub is heavenly after snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach (across the street). The condo is a short driving distance from a grocery store, a Long's drugstore, a movie theater and several restaurants (including the new Sam Choys), and it's across the street from the Outrigger Resort and Kahaluu Beach - the snorkeling is good there, and there's almost always turtles to see.
My downsides: the sink in the master bath is placed high - it's gorgeous, but it's high. The faucet in the kitchen sink is stationary, you can't pull the nozzle out from the faucet to spray the sink down (I think the other units have detachable nozzles.)
We'll be back to Kahaluu Beach Villas and I'm hoping that 2-301 is available for our next visit! -

Our experience with renting through Abbey Vacation Rentals was very pleasant and the accommodations at Kaha luu Beach Villas were excellent.
Booking through Abbey’s web-site was very simple and convenient. Also, when we called to ask some questions, they were very helpful. They called us a day before we checked in to see if we brought our lock box code to be able to get our keys…..very nice reminder. It was convenient to not have to check in anywhere, just simply go to your unit and get the key from a lock box….no hassles. We stayed on the top floor, so having an elevator made getting the luggage to our room very convenient. It was a hot and humid day, so when we entered our unit and found the A/C on and the radio tuned into the local Hawaiian radio station playing beautiful island music, it was a very good welcome. The housekeeping of the unit was superb. We are sort of neat freaks and we always wipe down counters, tables, etc with cleaning wipes when we check into a room and in many cases, condos just don’t past our test. After a few wipes we knew that this place was spotless! Now, I’m not sure if we got lucky and they just recently shampooed the carpet/rugs or they do this after each check out, but all of the flooring was very surprisingly clean, especially considering being near the beach. The unit had plenty of towels along with 4 very nice beach towels, a rather large sized washer and dryer, good kitchen appliances, radio (i-pod docking), flat screen TV, good A/C and ceiling fans and a nice outdoor patio with excellent views of the ocean. The ceiling fan in the patio really made it very pleasant to sit outdoors for our meals. A draw back to the top floor is that there are bird nest/holes that were built into the structure, thus allowing around a dozen or so birds to nest around your patio. You can imagine all of the bird droppings that developed day after day….not sure how the housekeepers deal with all of that cleaning. Fortunately, the droppings are not directly above where you would be sitting/eating and the birds are very pretty to look at. The pool was very nice with excellent views of the ocean nearby.
We would highly recommend Abbey Rentals and the Kaha Luu Beach Villas and plan to return there next year! -

This is a very nice condo - nicely furnished, very clean, great view from the lanai. The bay across the street is one of the best snorkelling spots on the island. Terrific local produce at the farmer's market and fresh seafood up the street at the grocery store. Compared to the zoo at other end of Kailua, quiet and laid back.
