We just spent a month in 405 and it was great. Loved the location, convenient to town and alii Drive but in a quiet location. The condo is bright and airy and very open feeling. The lanai facing the golf course was wonderful and we spent a lot of time there. Also enjoyed the ocean pool where we loved watching the whales and dolphins play in the ocean. However, there were some maintenance issues with the unit, as in the kitchen faucet being frozen in position, a dishwasher that didn't really clean the dishes, a lot of the lights been burned out and the patio screen that kept coming off the tracks because the plastic wheels were broken. Nothing major, just annoying things that could be easily fixed. I would have bumped my opinion up to excellent if small things were taken care of. But, all that being said we would stay here again in a second!

This condo was a great start to our Hawaiian vacation. Very confortable and clean with a great lanai. Grounds were spectacular and the small cove close to the condo had great snorkeling. Close to several other great snorkel places and to shopping and dining in Kailua-Kona.

Unit 405 at Kanaloa was really nice, well decorated and clean. The one small problem we had was responded to very promptly.
Having stayed in another condo in Kanaloa on two previous trips, it was sad to see the ocean pool bar closed and the dining room closed as well. Making the ocean front pool a family ( noisey) pool was also disappointing. Families have the main pool already. Fyi, our party consisted of my wie and (both 77) two grand daughters 21 and 37. Having to drive back into Kailua to dine out was inconvienient.

Great place to stay in. The pools were great! Our favorite was on the cliff
side and the adult pool came in handy as well. The condo was
well stocked with utensils and all you need. The view of the golf course at the patio was nice too specially when having breakfast every morning. I recommend this condo highly.

Unit 405 is tranquil and spacious with high ceilings and wonderful art on the walls. There are ceiling fans in the living/dining room and in each bedroom. The temperatures outdoors ranged around 80-85 degrees and we were able to sleep comfortably in the evenings with the fans and ocean breezes. The kitchen is well equipped and there were beach towels, books, cds and other items available to use during our stay.

The Kanaloa at Kona is a beautiful resort with all the amenities we were looking for on our travel to the big island. We loved the pools, particularly the ocean pool, and appreciated the "adults only" pool as well. The location of the resort is excellent--close to shopping, but far enough away from the bustle of the town to give a sense of privacy and quiet. The condo itself is quite lovely and very nicely decorated. Since we cooked all of our meals at the unit, we would have appreciated some mixing bowls and a hand mixer. We were not overly impressed with the dishwasher, and chose not to use it. I particularly enjoyed sitting on the lanai off the guest bedroom, enjoying the beautiful weather and reading. As a "senior citizen" traveling with 3 other "senior citizens," we did find the flights of stairs a bit of a challenge, but felt we were all in better shape as a result of using them! The day to day use was not difficult, but hauling the suitcases and grocery bags up the stairs was not as easy. There was a huge library of both music CDs and video Dvds, wireless access to the internet, and a nice tv and sound system in the living area. No tv in the guest room, but as far as we were concerned, why would you come to paradise to watch tv??? Even at night I would sit on the lanai and enjoy the ambience! The condo was very clean, which was much appreciated. I would love to visit again, and would recommend this unit to any friends I had who wanted to visit Kona.

We think Kanaloa is the nicest resort community in Kona. It is always well maintained with beautiful grounds and offers all amenities anyone would need. This is the first time we've stayed in unit 405, but will definitely return. The condo was spacious, well appointed, and the views are spectacular. Amenities were first rate, including a great kitchen. The only negative is the number of stairs, however being on the upper level we seemed to get nice breezes. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it to our friends and family.

We rented unit 405 Dec 3-10, 2012. As described there were lots of steps (no elevator). Steps to the unit, steps from the front door to the living area, more steps from the main level to the master. The unit was clean althought a little outdated. The TVs are old - there is no TV in the guest bedroom (should be). I didn't like that there is a large open area opening the master to the room below (the living area). Very difficult to sleep when noise is being made downstairs. The location is good (unless you are golfing courses other than the Kona CC) then it is a good 30-50 minute drive to the upscale courses. Over-all adequate unit - nothing outstanding.
Beautiful and spacious condo in a superb location...Perfect!

My husband, my mother and I are from the UK and stayed in this condo for 11 nights. The reason why we chose it was that my husband competed in the Ironman championships in Kona. It was a superb location close to local beaches, and to the highway when we wanted to go exploring. There is a supermarket just up the road within walking distance, with other shops and restaurants on site. The main shops and restaurants of Kona were only a short drive away which was fantastic. We found the apartment to be very spacious. 11 nights is a long holiday so we were happy we weren't sitting in each others laps! The condo was very clean and tidy when we arrived. It had such a homely Hawaiian feel which was great. It didn't feel like 'another hotel room'. From the 2 bedroom balconies you could see the family pool and the adult pool, both with spas! When you step out the door it would take you 20 seconds tops to reach the pools! There was also a 3rd pool with spa on the ocean front that took a whole of 60 seconds to reach! The condo was a great price and added to a great holiday. We all thoroughly recommend staying in this condo...we will if we visit the Big Island again :-)

My wife and I are avid scuba divers and we love diving Kona. Only a 5 hour flight from SF and you're in the tropics but it's still the U.S. We have stayed in many condos in Kona but this condo is now our favorite. It's clean and comfortable with a nice covered lanai that gets a nice breeze from the ocean. Kanaloa is a gated community with numerous pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and gas Bbqs. Golf is right next door. There is a shopping center within walking distance that has everything you could need. The location is close enough to downtown Kona, the Honokohau small boat harbor, and the airport to be convenient but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Don the owner of the property told us to call either him or his partner if we needed anything. We didn't have to call because it was all there. We will be back.
