This unit is a great location. there are stairs, but it is worth the climb. If you like snorkelling its right out front.
Ocean spray, Sun's rays...quiet stay.

Spectacular setting - because of this unit's placement, if feels less like a part of a condo than it does like a private home. The furnishings are simple but comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped with the basics. The remodeled kitchen and bath are nicely done. The property itself is well appointed: rich landscape, nice (and deep!) pool, great oceanside lounge and rec area. Parking is easy, and proximity to both Kailua and Keauhou make this an easy spot to land. The best feature of Kona Makai 6301 is its lanai: so big and wide, you can simply live on it and forget the rest! The only drawback is the lanai is carpeted with an indoor-outdoor material that holds all the salt spray and other detritus that happens to land on it. It doesn't really look or feel clean. But the view is so fantastic, one quickly forgets this. Last word of caution: the unit is practically on top of the ocean and as a result, the sound of the ocean is quite loud and pervasive. This makes for a fantastic view, but for people sensitive to noise, it will be challenging.

Our stay in 6301 was amazing. Wonderful location, quiet, comfortable. All the amenities one could ask for. My wife kept saying she felt like it was home. If we are fortunate enough to get back to the Big Island I hope this condo is available

Loved the views- amazing, loved the openess of the home, high ceilings, and views all around. Great large deck (where we spent most of our time), and convenient locatoin to alii Drive. Packed with amenities. We would definitely stay here again!

Great condo, the photos online truly reflect its appearance. The view from the lanai is superb. It has a calm, relaxing atmosphere. We loved going to sleep to the sound of the crashing waves. We also enjoyed being able to watch the dolphins, turtles, butterfly fish and the local birds from our lanai.
The condo was well stocked with cooking utensils that enabled us to cook the fresh fish we purchased at the marina.
I would give the condo 5 stars except the second bath / shower could only be used if you didn't mind standing in several inches of water during your shower because the drain was not working properly. This appears to be an ongoing problem that it is not being addressed and fixed properly. The only other detraction was the lack of locks on the siding glass door and screen door to the lanai. Both of these issues were reported upon our arrival but neither were fixed before we departed 10 days later.
As a heads up, if you have problems climbing stairs, this condo is not for you as there is no elevator and it is on the 3rd floor.

Wonderful stay at Kona Makai #6301!

The condo was more beautiful than the internet pictures of it, and so was the view. Outstanding with a fully stocked kitchen that we enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinner in. The only thing we could find missing was a larger cheese grater! Very clean and felt like home for 11 days. The staff and grounds keepers were very friendly and so was the on-site manager. Didn't like having to drive to another place to obtain the key and then return it when we left. On site Manager having the key would have been better. Unfortunately we are seniors, so no elevator was not good. We would recommend this resort and the unit we stayed in to anyone. P.S. I tried to upload 2 really nice pictures, but there was an internal server error. Sorry!

This property has incredible views from a wrap-around lanai-beautiful sunsets every night!! The amenities were fine and the property quite clean. The sound of the surf is almost over-whelming and quite hypnotic! The furnishings were adequate but the beds were somewhat uncomfortable, one toilet ran most of the time, there was no plug for the tub and the remodeled shower was improperly tiled and leaked (look out below)!! The real "kicker" was that only 2 rolls of toilet paper were provided for 4 adults on a 10 day rental! The property management, SunQuest, basically told us that we were on our own ... so we bought TP and paper towels while on vacation!
Still, Hawaii can make us overlook most of the inadequacies and we have only fond memeories of our time in Kona!!
An Excellent Stay

Overall an excellent stay. Spectacular ocean view from large lanai, living area and master bedroom. Unit location makes it private and peaceful. Very clean throughout, including carpets, furniture and other things that are not typically cleaned after each rental. Living area is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped for all cooking needs. No air conditioning in either area, so it can get a little warm during the day, but not a problem since we did not spend much daylight time inside. Master bedroom has comfortable king bed and nice connecting bath. The other bedroom, which also has a nice connecting bath, is roomier than pictured but the kids said the beds were not very comfortable (too hard, and the matresses shifted when you sat on the bed). Window-unit air conditioners in each room keep the rooms cool when the doors are shut, but this does affect the openess of the unit and overall communication. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom squeaks loudly; it was too warm to turn off the air conditioner and sleep with lanai door open, which would have been nice to hear the ocean instead of the air conditioner. But no major issues that affected our stay.

The central location in Kona was great. The unit was clean and well appointed. The view and amenities were great. The unit could use some beach chairs to use. The fan in the master br squeaked and apparently had been reported but not fixed. The furnishings, beds, bedding were great. Sitting on the lanai and enjoying the view and the sound of the waves was heavenly. We were a little confused on picking up the keys especially since we were arriving late. This was a little stressful after 14 hours of traveling to get there. I would absolutely stay there again.

Kona Maki was prefectly located and appartment 301 in Bld 6 was the ideal place to view everything going on just outside our appartment. The view was one of the best that I've ever experienced. The grounds were clean and well kept, the pool was comfortable and the outside cooking area was large enough for everyone to use. I would come back again, it was weel worth the price.
