Our tropical condo has stunning ocean views in this breathtaking ocean front condominium complex in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. Thats the sunny side. You can hear the ocean crashing from all rooms in the unit. We have fully redecorated and updated the entire unit in hawaiian decor to enhance your vacation. The beautifully maintained complex is very quaint, peaceful and private in a small gated community. There is fantastic snorkeling right out front of the complex. I have visited Hawaii many times and this is by far the best place I have ever stayed. The ocean view is spectacular and right out your back door. I especially enjoyed the location being able to walk to the small local town, restaurants, shops and other condos. The condo is very clean, freshly painted, and tastefully decorated in Hawaiian decor. The grounds are very quiet & beautifully landscaped, including the relaxing pool, barbecue area. Nothing has been overlooked. This condo has it all!! I will be back this fall.

We stayed in this condo for four nights as part of our honeymoon. The Kona Makai complex is a lovely, quiet, oceanfront complex. It features a barbecue area with three new gas grills, a whirlpool, pool, ping pong table, lounge chairs, parking, tennis courts and an outstanding ocean view! It is also about one mile to walk to the main strip of Kona where all the restaurants are.
This condo is on the third floor (no elevators), in the second building closest to the ocean. The highlight of our stay was eating our breakfast on the lanai admiring the ocean view, including watching dolphins and whales! We even saw a whale breach! The view was outstanding. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and the unit has free wifi and cable. There are lots of kitchen utensils, plates, pots, extra towels, sheets, etc. There are some beach supplies like chairs, paddleball set, snorkel equipment, umbrella, cooler, etc. We didn't use the loft (which has two twin beds) but it would be good for children (probably not safe for toddlers).
Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The downsides are that the unit is a bit outdated (but it also rents for cheaper than other units in the same complex), and some of the appliances (dishwasher and stove) will soon need replacing. The washer/dryer is new and works very well. The bathtub didn't drain very well. The management company tried to send a handyman over to fix it, but since we stayed over a weekend, this didn't happen during our stay. Also, the living room carpet was quite stained, despite the owner's request (and Hawaiian custom) that guests remove shoes before entering.
In summary, this condo met our needs and affordably allowed us to enjoy the oceanfront location close to the city center.

We are so happy you had the opportunity to enjoy the dolphins and whales from our lanai. What a treat. We are glad the condo fit all your needs. We try hard to have all the amenities needed to make our guests stay more comfortable. We agree that the dishwasher and stove need to be replaced and new ones will be installed in a few weeks. We plan to install new carpet, tile or hardwood. We just purchased the condo last spring and plan to continue with all the additional updates. We have a few surprises we plan to add to our Sugar Shack in March.
The views are amazing. Kona Makai is certainly a hidden gem. -

Our family of 4 arrived on a Saturday evening. We have two young children and were anxious about locating the condo in the dark. The owner provided excellent instructions and we had no problems finding it, even in the dark. The owners were very responsive to all of our questions. The description was accurate and both the complex and the unit were very clean and well maintained. Kailua-Kona is a fun town and also makes a great base for exploring the rest of the island. I would highly recommend a stay at this condo, great value and location!

My husband and I have stayed in this unit on our own and another time with our boys. It had everything we needed for a great vacation. We love the layout and the way it is decorated. The owners really thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and one to remember.
