The condo was very clean and spacious. It had everything we needed and more; washer/dryer, nice kitchen that was fully stocked with dishes and cooking items of all sorts. The location of the complex was in a very nice area of Kona because it was quiet, yet conveniently located near retail, beaches just north and south of complex. It was extremely close to the heart of the town but not in it, which we liked because it was less commercial.
The view from the lanai was unbeatable. The management company was easy and nice to work with. We loved it all!
Best Condo-rental experience ever!

This is the nicest vacation rental we have ever discovered. Our family was astounded when we arrived at Kanaloa at Kona, unit 2704. Pictures simply can't do it justice. It has a magnificent view of the ocean, is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very spacious. The location convenient and amenities perfect (three pools, tennis courts, ping pong, etc. The lanai/deck adds enormously to the unit's ambience.
Our Hawaiian Dream House

The service was excellent, and could not believe how awesome the condo was when we walked up the stairs the first time. Our happiness increased with every day that we spent in this beautifully appointed yet very comfortable home. We arrived on New Year's Eve 2013 and celebrated our first night with a great dinner on the balcony, and were thrilled to watch the gorgeous sunset -- it became our routine to do that every day of our stay. This was a family vacation with my husband and I sharing the dream with our son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. We were given the master suite and totally enjoyed the walk-in closet, the walk-in shower and the comfy bedroom. The two kids were thrilled with their loft bedroom, their own getaway. The kitchen was totally furnished with every amenity we could want, and we enjoyed cooking and then eating every meal on the round table on the deck. The deck was our favorite gathering place at any time of the day, except on the Sunday when the Green Bay Packers were playing (and losing). The kids spent parts of every day in one or another of the pools in the complex, and one day after a long drive to Hilo we joined other guests to gawk when three spouting whales were glimpsed in the distance. We took long drives to see the Volcano Park, the black sand beach, Rainbow Falls, Boiling Pit,the Tropical Botanical Garden, and on our last day, Pu'uhonua Point National Historic Park (the Place of Refuge). We would highly recommend all of them to future condo visitors. Our condo was ideally positioned to reach almost all points of interest on the island by car, and it also offered a lava path along the edge of the sea. It was awesome watching the waves crash against the rocks at the edge of the lava field.
we were looking for Shangri-la

The location of this property was advantageous for touring the Kona side of the Big Island. Close to shopping, famous landmarks, and entertainment. Best features of the unit were kitchen and baths all of which looked recently updated. We did enjoy the views from the second floor lanai. However, we could not have anticipated the assault on our allergies that occurred from what could only have been the carpet and inadequate dusting. We strongly encourage shampooing of carpet.

I had the absolute best time staying at this unit at Kanaloa at Kona. I am a baker and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make all our meals and even plan a little birthday party. The view is just breath taking and to wake up each morning and just open the doors to the lanai and hear the waves crashing against the rocks and see the ocean was a treat. The BBQ grills were close, the ocean front pool was literally steps out the door and we had a view of the pool too. The condo is close to downtown Kona to do a little shopping but I really felt like I was on a secluded island as well. Well, an island that has Costco and Target. This unit is large enough for a family to have plenty of space without having to step over each other. The master bath is spacious with a double shower and vanity area to get ready for a fun night out.
I would recommend two great activities within walking distinct, The Fair Winds to take a snorkeling cruise or the Sheraton for happy hour and manta ray watching. There are also so many other activities to partake in or just enjoy time at the pool and quiet time in the condo. My next time back to the big island will include a stay at this condo, we throughly enjoyed our stay there.

This had to be one of the best places that I have stayed at when visiting the Islands. This is probably my 4th or 5th time to the Islands and it was the first time I stayed in a personal condo vs. a timeshare from a major company. It was the perfect location. It was easily accessible to downtown Kona, but yet far enough away that I felt there was privacy. The unit has been very well maintained and offered a lot of space. The view was/is incredible. Being from the Northwest, you simply cannot put into words to describe how beautiful a view of the open ocean and gorgeous sunset are. The deck is located w/ this incredible view to begin or end your day with. The unit was very comfortable and nicely kept up. It offers a nice size television, plenty of bathrooms, nice ceiling fans and big sliding glass doors/windows to the great outdoors. The appliance worked nicely and there were plenty of utensils/kitchen gadgets for all of our cooking needs. The pool was located very close and also had a wonderful view of the ocean. The location was great. We were able to reach any destination point easily as well as walk right next door to the Sheraton to view the manta rays. We were able to go out rigging close by as well. Overall, I enjoyed my time here immensely and would recommend this condo to anyone. Thanks for providing such an incredible little getaway!
Stunning Ocean Views and Comfort

A first rate experience from the initial contact with Hawaii Sunset Real Estate to check out. A detailed packet in advance of our trip answered questions and made our preparations easier. Unit 2704 was well prepared for our arrival; neat, clean, and with a fully equipped kitchen. Nicely appointed rooms, comfortable beds. The lanai drew us to enjoy breathtaking spectacular views of the ocean and the oceanside pool. We especially enjoyed watching as the sun settled into the blue Pacific each evening. The location of Kanaloa makes it easy to travel to any destination on the island of Hawaii. We enjoyed viewing the Iron Man competitions. The Fairwinds catamaran is a great opportunity to snorkel and dive near the Captain Cook Memorial. Diving to view the Manta Rays at night is within walking distance across the bay from Kanaloa. The Zip Line is a fun excursion, as well as the Botanical Garden, The Place of Refuge, the volcano, many lovely beaches, the Seahorse aquarium, and so much more . We enjoy so many wonderful things about The Big Island. A lot less traffic than Maui and Oahu!!! Right now we are planning for a return visit in January. 2704 is a well-maintained unit. Please be aware this unit is on the second floor and overlooks the ocean. Fantastic!!
Great View, magic sunsets, lovely home, would stay again

Like a typical male I didn't read all the fine print which would have alerted me to the fact that you have to pay an extra $20/day for air con - thankfully an e-mail to Sunset sorted this out as we really needed it. Otherwise it was a very comfortable place to stay, beautiful sunsets each evening, waves crashing meters away. Handy to Keauhou shops. Short drive to Kahalu'u beach park for stunning snorkling, lots of turtles in waist deep water.
Awesome swimming & bodyboarding nearby at white sands. Also approx 2 hours to Volcanoes Nat Park.
Nice place to visit

What a great location! Beautiful views of the ocean, especially at sunset. The condo is very roomy. Easy access to the swimming pools. Walking distance to bay where there are plenty of ocean activities. Only downfall was that the rate came without air conditioning. There was no real way to get a breeze to come through to cool the place down. Plenty of fans but they didn't do the job. Most of our time was spent on the lanai just to stay cool. Couldn't use the kitchen or enjoy the living room due to heat. Would recommend increasing the rental fee to include a/c.
Comfortable, clean and convenient location

This condo is beautiful, clean, is located in a great place, with a wonderful view of the ocean. Our family of 4 enjoyed staying here very much. If it had the following, I would have rated it as excellent: (1) newer, more comfortable mattress in the master bedroom, (2) tennis racquets, (3)air conditioning that could be set to stay on for more than 4 hours at a time and (4) exhaust fans in the bathrooms. If you like comfort, quiet and privacy, you definitely want to pay the $20 extra/day for the air conditioning so that you can close all the windows. This condo is right next to the pool, so it was a bit noisy when the pool was busy. Also, the birds and gardeners were noisy in the morning. If I returned, I would try to get a unit that was a bit further away from the pool. Definitely liked the fact that it was on the upper floor.

We stayed 4 nights in this well appointed luxury condo. Thank goodness for the a/C because even with the ceiling fans it was hot & muggy. It's worth the extra $20/night. The lanaii overlooks the ocean and one of 3 resort pools. If you're on the lanaii, you hear people around the pool, but the sound is muffled because of the waves. It really didn't bother us. Generally, it's clean, quiet & respectful. There is a tiny beach next door, but better to head north near the airport for the long white sandy beaches. The condo has everything you need with quality beds, linens and funishings. It's at the 5 mile marker south of downtown. We would definitely return!
