Description from the owner

This is a beautiful oceanfront home built in a Tahitian motif. It sits right above the beach with private stairs down to the sand! It is tropically landscaped with a big front lawn and a wrap around lanai.

Located on Alii Drive, but set back from the street behind a gated driveway. Just minutes from the best snorkeling beach on the Island, Kahalu'u Beach Park.

The home has two bedrooms and two baths. The master bedroom has a king sized bed with large bathroom. Sliding doors open onto the lushly landscaped yard.

The second bedroom has a queen sized bed.

A spectacular spot, on the ocean, the view & lanai & hot tub wer

Left on 03/02/2012 for a stay in February 2012

The property, although not "luxury" (for which we were grateful), was perfect for our two couples. Spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen. Nice walks just off our lanai, along the beach front (where we even saw a turtle), constant sound of surf, great hot tub, easy to use grill. The couches were a bit hard to get comfy on, but the chairs & table on the lanai were where we usually spent our time. And a really great value, I could not believe we'd found a place right on the ocean for such a good rate!

      Heavenly Location!

Left on 01/28/2012 for a stay in January 2012

This home was perfect for 2 couples. Lots of room indoors & out. Beautiful, spacious master bedroom with bath and nice smaller bedroom with bath across the hallway. Right on the ocean with a deck surrounding the whole house and a smaller deck at the ocean's feet, great for whale watching! All the kitchen ammenities we needed including a blender for delicious drinks. We weren't bothered at all by traffic noise as some others have suggested. And, we saw not one ant! The hot tub was very nice. The only suggestion we can make, is to supply a couple extra rolls of toilet paper and larger bar of soap in the bathrooms (we ran out of both before our week was over). And,change the mattress in the guest bedroom (it sqeaks terribly). Laundry soap would have also been nice. But, all in all, this was a wonderful place to stay, approximately 2 mi. S. of town and we'd stay again in a heartbeat!!!

We were looking for a place for moms 90th birthday, this was perfect. Clean, oceanfront and not crowded. It had the space we needed and all the comforts of home. We had coffee and dinners on the deck or just sat and watched the world go by. We will go basck again soon I hope.

Cozy w/all ammenities! Best oceanfront beach house deal!

Left on 06/17/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Easy to rent and access home. Prompt replies to any questions we had prior to or during our stay. This is our 2nd time at the beach house. The house was perfect for our family... lovely breakfasts on lanai watching the crashing waves and beautiful sunset dinners/cocktails. Situated on alii Drive with steps down the seawall to the rocky and sandy beach shore. Saw spinner dolphins and turtles off the rocks. The only thing I'd improve is the lounge chairs. Newer more comfortable chairs would've been icing on the cake! Would highly recommend and definitely rent again!

Ocean nearness out does some rundown conditions and street noise

Left on 06/09/2010 for a stay in February 2010

This 1970's home sits right by the beach, providing relaxing views and pleasant wave sounds. We understand that waves are not as intense at other times of the year. Street noise makes sleeping in the master bedroom a challenge. We opened windows closest to the ocean to drown some of the noise. That wouldn't work as well with less intense waves. Our friends had no problem with street noise in the other bedroom. There were some rusty and worn areas, plus several ants in the kitchen. The property is hard to locate, nestled between two condominiums. The house was generally clean, but we didn't trust the cleanliness of the items in the kitchen, so we prewashed them. The hot tub was initially dirty, but was cleaned quickly after we called, and they said the service was already planned.

Kona was beautiful, the house was dissapointing.

Left on 06/01/2010 for a stay in March 2010

The house had issues. Our group included 2 couples. The queen bed in the second bedroom was so old the box springs squeaked every time one of its occupants moved. Not to mention the paper sliding window to the bedroom, between the two there was no privacy for a couple at all. When we mentioned it to the caretaker, he suggested we put several quilts between the box springs and mattress to see if that would help. Even if that would have helped I dont know where we would have gotten the quilts. The deck is in need of repair in several places including the stairs, making it a little hazardous. The hot tub was gross. It should be removed or cleaned and chemicals added weekly. The inside of the house was clean, but the deck and deck furniture was not. Also I spoke to Kathleen Jech on the phone, she told me the damage ins would be refunded if no damage occured. When I called about i after we got home she denied saying that and refused the refund. Even in the information she sent me the add stated if we booked know that would be waived, but we were charged.
We purchased toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and tissue. We stay in condo's all over the country and have never had one so poorly stocked. Also when the info stated there were beach towels abailable I really expected to find more than 2. We had to buy some.
One other little thing. May I recommend the binder with all the information about garbage etc be put in a place where it will be found right away. We didnt find it until 5 days into our stay and it could have been helpful.

      Response from 1 888 Try Kona - 06/03/2010

      1 888 Try Kona

      Owner

This home is on the water and there is always work to do. The deck is definitely safe but was awaiting paint & refinishing. The low rental price reflects the fact that there are cosmetics that need to be done.

This is the first time I've received a complaint about the bed and it will definitely be replaced. We wouldn't want to stay in a place where the bed was uncomfortable and wouldn't expect anyone else to either.

Instead of asking for a large refundable security deposit we sell an accidental damage insurance policy for $50 that protects the renter from unintentional damage up to $1,500. This is not refundable and our online itinerary and contract clearly outlines the coverage for this policy. This has been great for us and for our guests. Now that we have this insurance we haven't had to charge guests for stains on the carpet, accidental screen tears, broken mirrors, etc.

We also state in the agreement that the home is stocked with starter supplies. If someone needs additional towels they can call our local manager who is available 7 days a week and he will be glad to bring some over.

As for the hot tub, it is serviced by a local professional on a weekly basis. If it is not working properly or seems unsanitary a guest needs only to call our manager and we will have it serviced immediately.

We are always glad to receive feedback from our guests and use it to improve our vacation rentals. I invite the reviewer to try us again and I'll be glad to extend them a discount to thank them for their review.

Wonderful beachfront house, private, lanai near the waves, BBQ,

Left on 03/11/2010 for a stay in December 2009

We loved having our own house, being able to shop at the nearby farmer's market and then cooking at "home". Kona coffee, BBQ local fish and veggies, and just being at the house was a wonderful experience because the ocean was right in our back yard. We enjoyed the two lanais, one near the kitchen and one near the water, with the beautiful colors of the black lava rock and lava rock wall, the water, the golden sand, and the palm trees. The sound of the ocean waves was constant and soothing. We watched the sun set right from the lanai.

The location was perfect, near town and also an excellent swimming and snorkeling beach nearby.

WE recommend this location, aloha ;)

      oceanfront comfort

Left on 03/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009

The website pictures dont do the property justice. I've rented several properties on Alii Drive, but this property offers home comforts and a peaceful oceanfront view.

While Alii Drive is very busy, the home is set back a bit from the road with a rock wall the keeps the bedroom as quiet as any "affordable' Alii Drive property. Likewise, the oceanfront portion of the property is set back far enough so you have an awesome view of the ocean, and still aren't kept awake by the crashing waves....yes that can happen!

The inside of the home is clean and comfortable with air conditioning for those not used to the Kona heat. The lanai is set high enough so you can enjoy the waves over the lava seawall protecting the property.

There is no sandy beachfront at this property though there is easy access to the beach that is typical of the Kona Coast....lava rock.

      Enjoy your stay.

Kona Beachfront Paradise at a BARGAIN!

Left on 03/05/2010 for a stay in January 2010

Our family of four spent a week at this cute cozy beachfront home. The home
was well equipped with all amenities one would need. We hit Costco after
arriving in Kona and stocked the kitchen with enough time to spend our first
night having dinner on the lanai watching the sunset. The home was
extremely comfortable. It also had a washer/dryer to make the stay even
better for us active travelers. It is private, yet on the main beachfront drive.
EVERYTHING is nearby. There are steps off the seawall and you can walk along
shore, collect shells or sit and meditate to the soothing sound of the waves.
This property's rental rate is a steal for the location and all the amenities. The
only downside is if you don't wipe down and sweep everything every night,
you'll have trails of ants. But that's manageable. I'd rent there often and
recommend to all my friends. Can't wait for the next visit.
