Beautiful Oceanfront Kona Home- Private Beachfront
Additional Location Information
There is plenty of space with private, beautiful and romantic views throughout the property. The “Apple Oasis” as I like to call it, just had a face-lift including the addition of a secluded lawn with two hammocks, a waterfall and a fire-pit, just feet away from the beautiful shoreline. You will also have a pool table/ping pong table on your lanai overlooking the Ocean.
You will dream of the heavenly views after you return home. It is a wonderful property without the noisy neighbors and maids or the rules that come with many rentals.
My wife and I live in the home when it is not rented, so you can be sure it will be clean, well maintained and stocked with every thing you could need.
The house location on the island is a perfect starting point for nearby activities and day trips. The house is positioned at an ideal vantage point, next to the best snorkeling beach on the island, Kahaluu Beach Park. We have a great view of the Park’s popular surf break from our lanai where you can watch the local surfers all day long. On the other side of the snorkeling beach, another five- minute walk south, you will find the Outrigger Hotel complete with restaurants, an ocean-front bar with live local music, a spa, swimming pool, nature trails, and Hawaiian heritage sites.
The Keahou Shopping Center is one mile from the house, same direction at the top of hill. It has great restaurants, (Thai, Japanese, Italian, Mexican,
Hawaiian, Subway and a great Coffee shop) six movie theatres, grocery stores, an Emergency Care Center and a pharmacy. A popular, inexpensive, challenging, community 18-hole golf course with a driving range (rental clubs available) and a small boat harbor with fun, daily water excursions (Fair wind cruises (808-322-2788), snorkeling -fishing-boat rentals-kayaks etc.) is another mile away continuing down the hill towards the Sheraton Hotel.
One mile away, the other direction, north, towards Kailua-Town and the airport is Disappearing Magic White Sands Beach, great for body surfing and body watching.
Another three miles from there is downtown Kailua-Kona Harbor where you can eat and shop till you drop. This is also a great place for Hawaiian Shaved Ice and a spiritual walk on the Royal Palace grounds over-looking the Harbor.
If you want to swim with the turtles there is an “easy’ natural entry into the ocean in front of the house, that the old Hawaiian’s called “The Bowl”. The surf has carved an inlet into the rocks with a natural stepping stone exit which allows the current to lift you up and out safely. With a little practice, the neighbors will think you are a “local”. The current is sometimes strong, so it is helpful to watch others get in and out first. Like most things, it’s easy if you know how to do it. Use fins and a snorkel/mask to give you more confidence and control while in the water, but take them off before you attempt to step up and out. Either hold them in your hands or toss them up onto the rocks. I always wear water shoes to walk across the sharp and uneven lava rocks to keep from slipping. They also help in planting your feet safely on the water steps as you exit the water. Bring some A&D; ointment and band-aids just in case. It is the most beautiful, natural, mineralized water in the world. The tide is usually pretty calm with an abundance of turtles and fish. You may also see a dolphin or two if you are lucky. It will be something you and your family will never forget. Remember, always be safe than sorry and never swim alone.
The luxury hotels and beautiful white sand beaches are one hour North. A trip to explore Waipeo Valley, then dinner in Waimea or an all day adventure to the volcano is a must see, if you have time. One of my favorite adventures is located one hour south of the house where you can experience old Hawaiian spiritual grounds at the City of Refuge. Not far from there, you can kayak and swim with dolphins during their early morning feeding. If you want to be splashing on the water, looking for natural sea life and snorkeling on isolated beaches, my friend Chris at Sea Hawaii Rafting will take you on a memorable ride of your vacation.

My Favorite Place!!!
This beautiful house exceeded all of my expectations. I stayed here for 10 days for the Ironman in October of 2013. It is an ideal location for the race...not too far away, but not so close that you are overwhelmed by the craziness of race week. The view is staggering. The pictures do not do it justice! It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in my life. The house has a patio and a side yard that look like a movie set. We would sip our coffee and watch the dolfins cruise by in the mornings and sip our wine and watch the sun set in the evenings. I can't imagine staying here and not falling in love with this house. The applebaums were incredibly hospitable and provided everything we needed and more. The amenities in the house were perfect. I will definitely be back in the future!

Peaceful yet near eveything we needed
We loved appleOasis. Somedays we just stayed at the house, changing our outlook of the stunning ocean by moving around the deck and many delightful gardens. From there we could watch the sailing boats, sufers, row boats...and the incredibel sunset. We had everything we needed - a comforatble bed, barbeque, well equiped kitchen. But when the mood took us we discoverd many excellent restaurents and fatatstic beaches just a short drive away.
We had a great vacation - thank you for renting your house to us Richard.

A little piece of heaven on earth!
This place has it all, it was fantastic! The house was very accommodating and well-equipped, and had everything you need in the kitchen, and for the ocean - snorkeling gear, boogie boards and noodles. We come to Hawaii for the natural environment, and this beautiful setting is a feast for the eyes and soul. In the first 30 minutes of our arrival, we were greeted by a turtle lounging in the tide pools just below the house. Like most of the Big Island, the coastline is lava rock. But just to the right of this very special spot is "the bowl" - a favorite of locals where you can safely jump into the ocean, and there's great snorkeling right there in front of the house. If you just want to relax - so many options! Our favorite spot to read and nap were the over-sized hammocks hung between the palm trees, while the kids hung out in the lounge chairs on the extensive lawn. The oceanfront lanai offers more lounge chairs, dining table, and even a billiards table! The owners - Richard and Gloria - are the nicest people you could meet, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a dream vacation. There's only one problem with this place - it is so relaxing, you may never want to leave to see the rest of the island. But you must - because there's so much to do on the fabulously diverse Big Island. We will definitely be back.
We have stayed at the apple Oasis several times now over the past 5 years, and keep coming back over and over. The house is situated in an amazing location - big wide oceanfront - relax in the hammocks, on the lawn, or on the lanai, watch the turtles and dolphins and brightly colored fish surfing the waves, wade in the natural tidepools, or jump in the water! Kahaluu beachpark is a short stroll away with great snorkeling, surfing lessons, and paddleboards. A wonderful place to stay!

best time in hawaii
After being in Hawaii 12 out of the last 14 years, we found the "Apple Oasis" a dream place. The outdoor shower, the continuous deck with the ocean at your feet,
close proximity to everything, the privacy etc, etc., really made it for us.
Stayed at the apple Oasis last winter with 1 year old daughter, wife, and her parents. This house was a perfect alternative to a resort or hotel. We were able to brew local coffee/cook local fish in the kitchen, play pool on the porch, and jump into the snorkeling area from the lava rock "backyard." It is a 5 minute walk to a chill surf beach and turtle viewing bay. There are 2 farmers markets in walking distance, and it is a quick drive to Kona. Maybe the most relaxing vacation situation of my life. We will be back this winter. Thanks Richard!

Many Happy Returns
Of all the islands of Hawaii, the Big Island is by far our favorite. Over the years we have stayed in ocean front houses and condos up and down alii Drive, but since finding the apple Oasis four years ago we haven't looked any farther.
The spacious lanai and the fabulous lawn to the side give a very open, yet private, feel. The hammocks swinging beneath the palms are a great reading/napping spot, and the house is well appointed.
The best snorkling beach on the Big Island is a five minute walk (you can see it from the lanai, along with the surfers), but if you are even slightly adventuresome there's an easy entry/exit at the "Bowl" 30 yards from the front door and fantastic snorkling all along the shoreline.
We have found apple Oasis to be both child and handicapped friendly. Our grandchildren as young as 18 months had a ball -- there's a neat tidal wading area near the base of the retaining wall -- and the house is definitely wheelchair accessable.
The owner, Richard, is very responsive if there is an issue (we've only had one -- propane for the huge grill), and makes sure all the flora are well tended.
