The beautiful and sophisticated bougainvillea-covered harbour town of Kalkan is set in breathtaking landscape in the heart of the old Lycian region. Strict conservation laws have ensured that the heart of the old village retains an authentic ambience that attracts the sort of visitor who might also be enchanted by, say Tuscany or the Dordogne.
Kalkan, with its narrow, cobbled street is set on a hilside and has something to offer for everyone whether it be feasting, drinking, dancing, shopping, sunbathing, sailing, or sightseeing - day or night. All along the harbour are roomy restaurants and bars from where you can survey the unique wooden gullets returning from their day's voyage. The centre of the harbour is the focal point in Kalkan and the bazaar area is a maze of narrow, winding streets brimming with shops, restaurants, bars and clubs.
Kalamar Bay is approximately a 25 minutes walk from Kalkan and 150m from the best beach clubs in the area with unrestricted sea views of the Bay and the mountains. Please be aware that walking can be difficult for the elderly or those with restricted mobility

We have stayed at the Kalamar Meltam apartments for 3 years running now. The apartments are spotless, spacious and have everything you need for your stay. The pool and surrounding areas are maintained on a daily basis and it is always very clean. We have never had any issues with ear infections or upset tummies from the pool water which we know happens in other places, it is very clean. Drinking water is supplied by the pool which is kept cool for you-a very nice touch as it is needed in the hot temperatures.
There is staff on site to help and even though they speak little English, somehow you manage to explain what it is you need and they help you. There is also help at the end of the phone supplied, which is located near the pool, from Murat who speaks very good English and again is always very happy to help.
The location of the apartments is a good 45 minute walk outside of Kalkan, which is not an issue for us...but if you don't like walking or are not in good health then this will be quite hard going as the hills can be a challenge!
Local taxis are very prompt, cheap with really nice drivers, so this is an alternative option or you can hire a car at a reasonable price.
The view from the apartments is just fabulous and you will spend the days feeling very relaxed!
If you fancy a change of scenery, the Beach clubs are only 5 minutes from the apartments and they too have everything you need for the day.
There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops in Kalkan...perfect for a nice evening out...nothing too rowdy and its all very traditional Turkish.
Staying here will be one of the best holidays you will have and like us, you will want to return again year after year!Response from Feray Yilmaz - 11/15/2012

As first time visitors to Kalkun we were instantly struck by the friendliness of the locals. Once you overcome the gradient of some of the hills it is very easy to find your way around on foot and at the end of our stay, we realised that we had not even ventured further that the edges of town! There are so many amazing restaurants but we were best served by one restaurant when advised to have the 'Special Mezze' (not on the menu) Wow!
The appartments are ideally situated to the west of the town and provided a very comfortable, peaceful sancuary where you can fully relax away from the liveliness of the town. With access down to the sea being just a few hundred meters downhill and local bars and restaurants offering takeaway, you are just as well catered for if you choose to 'stay home' any night. The pool and rooftop barbeque area made it very dificult to decide whether to stay home or go out! We saw there were many local places of interest and activities to take part in and we will now definately be going back to hopefully appreciate more than just the wonderful appartments and town of Kalkun. -

A really beautiful location. Stunning views. The apartment was really comfortable and tastefully decorated. Everything you could need was there.
