This 3 bedroom, 2 bath spacious family home is located along the foothills of Waimea, just a few miles west from the center of town in Kamulea View Estates - one of the town's sunny, peaceful and friendly neighborhoods.With exellent access to the fabulous beachs of the Kohala Coast and a short drive to the shops of downtown Waimea, this home has everything you need for an exciting Big Island adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed our 8-week stay at this house March-April 2013.
What we loved:
+ spacious floorplan: top floor = kitchen, great room, master, 2nd bedroom. ground floor = entry, 3rd bedroom, 2nd living area
+ location on dry side of Waimea/Kamuela: altitude ~2300 ft, cool nights, only occasional rainshowers
+ within 15 minutes drive to best Kohala beaches (Hapuna, 69/Waialea Bay, Mauna Kea), Hilo within 75 minutes drive via coastal belt highway or Saddle Rd, Kona within 50 minutes.
+ Extras: beach gear (towels, mats, boogie boards, umbrella, coolers), Gumi shoes for walking tidepools, golf clubs, board games
+ unobstructed views of Kohala mountain through back windows
+ front yard garden with fresh lettuce & green onions for salads. Also papaya that we didn't use.
+ Books, books, and more books. A reader's paradise.
+ Fully equipped kitchen, handmade dishes & pottery
+ LCD TVs in great room, lower level living area, and master with Time-Warner cable. We could access our Netflix streaming from each.
What was missing:
- Lanai for meals or relaxing
- Ceiling fans in bedrooms and great room. The house was warm on sunny afternoons and needed moving air to feel comfortable.
