      Hill top Heaven

Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We are a family of six, who spent three nights in this wonderful location. This bungalow has breath taking view, well maintained garden and house keeper "Dayananda" who is very reliable and helpful.

There were three bed rooms equipped with matching decor, cleanliness and each room with a breathtaking view of its own. Kitchen is equipped with all the necessary cooking equipment, cutlery and dishes.

The bungalow has satelite TV, hot water and roof top which takes your breath away.

We highly recommend this bungalow to any family who is wishing to find peace and tranquility in the heart of Kandy.

The only way to experience the Hill Country – On a Hill of cours

Left on 05/22/2012 for a stay in December 2010

During Xmas 2010, my family and I headed to Sri Lanka with my two young children to visit my wife’s family who come from Colombo. Coming from Melbourne, Australia, I certainly wanted to avoid the heat and congestion so we headed straight for the cool green hills of Peradeniya. I was lucky enough to stumble on the Thorana Bungalow and was easily able to book online. I required a large house as I would be bringing my wife’s parents along with us so the entire family could stay together. I honestly thought that the house sounded too good to be true and simply didn’t expect all that was offered. Having travelled extensively, I have on occasions come across less than scrupulous hotel operators who simply promise what they cannot deliver. Not so with anoma. With the first contact I made with her, I could tell that she was a professional lady who was sensitive to the needs of the “demanding tourist”. The Bungalow is situated on top of a hill in a very peaceful street, if you are lucky enough you may hear the morning call to prayer from a mosque in the very far off distance or the monks from the local temple chanting.
As advertised, the bungalow was immaculately presented, there was even enough space for our driver to stay over when we would return back late from our family outings. The kitchen was fully equipped, the refrigerator was large enough for an entire family, the bathrooms and all furniture was of high quality including the beds. But most importantly, the view was truly spectacular. Waking up in the morning with a clear view of adam’s peak is something that no other accommodation in Kandy/Peradeniya can offer. The kids had great fun running around inside such a large house and in the evening we would let off fireworks on the rooftop. Apart from complaining, our neighbours would join in on the fun.
This was truly an authentic cultural experience as you lived amongst the locals, purchasing your daily necessities from them. Although you are secluded, you can find all your major grocery needs from the arpico in Peradeniya which is less than ten minutes away. Also close by are the Botanical Gardens, the beautiful grounds of the local university, the Mlesna Tea Centre and the ayurvedic Spice Grove. Kandy City which is 15 minutes away and is a major asian tourist destination has all your international restaurants and shopping needs. Our watchman Daya was also a true Sri Lankan gentleman who could not do enough to make our stay more enjoyable. Whether it is a secluded getaway or a just a place to rest your head at night after sight-seeing, Thorana Bungalow is the ideal place for a family or two, or perhaps a couple seeking a romantic escape.

      Rooftop Paradise

Left on 02/08/2012 for a stay in December 2011

I visited Sri Lanka from us with my teenage son and took my family in Sri Lanka to Kandy for Christmas. we stayed at Thorana Bungalow for two nights. The view from the rooftop is absolutely breath taking. We rented the whole house which includes 5 spacious bedrooms with spetacular views, 2 kitchens, a dinning room and a family room. Absolutley clean, great standards and what a fun place for a family to hang out! My son still talks about the sun rise thru "Adam's Peak" and the gorgous colors of the sun set. we sat up on the rooftop and watched the sunset for hours. The quiteness and the beauty of the area is another great feature. The care taker of the bungalow made sure we had everything we need and did absolutely the best to make our stay comfortable. We will go back for sure, and I have recommended this place to many us friends as well.
