Peacock House on Kaneohe Bay Private Waterfront

The house is located on our family property, in the small special area known as Hakipu’u. We live in another home on the property, which includes our 2 acre flower and goldfish farm, RainGarden Ornamentals.

Walk down our lush garden path to look out at Chinaman’s Hat and Kaneohe Bay from our private beachfront. From the house you look out through trees and tropical landscape. The property is a bird lovers dream; we have two peacocks (pikake), and other assorted feathered friends that roam the farm . Songbirds call, especially in the morning from nearby Monkeypod trees and a couple of jungle fowl roosters will most likely crow too.... My favorite song is that of the shama trush, they will often perch nearby as if they are curious about you.

Our beachfront is not the best swimming beach but you can paddle out 5 minutes to a lovely sandy beach that provides a nice walk past “Secret Island” to Kualoa Beach Park. There is a flat bottom canoe at our beach for your use. The main reef is approximately 1 mile out providing a very large safe area for exploring. You can even paddle out to Chinaman’s Hat and hike to the top of the Island or enjoy snorkeling at patches of coral reef inside the Bay.

The single-family plantation home was built in the 1940's- she shines with her history as well as updates. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and there is a large twin daybed in the second bedroom. All the furniture was chosen with style as well as RELAXATION in mind. The kitchen is well equipped, but if you don't feel like cooking there are a few restaurants and lunch wagons nearby. Just down the road is "Waikane Store" with homemade local snacks and a few basic groceries, "Waiahole Poi Factory" serves Hawaiian Plate Lunch, or at Kahaulu’u is "Mike’s" HuliHuli chicken - you can even purchase as "take-out" a whole chicken or other main courses for your dinner; Uncle Bobo's is a very casual restaurant just north in Ka'a'awa with great food. The house has one bathroom with an antique cast iron tub. In addition there is a large outdoor shower, with changing area, which is perfect for when you come up from the beach. The backyard is lush with various gardens, flower production areas and goldfish ponds. We will be happy to give you a tour of our production areas during your visit. Down at the beachfront is a covered structure with porch furniture, sink and gas grill…a great spot to enjoy the views, unwind and enjoy a cold drink or meal.

Upon arrival you will find arrangements of fresh tropical flowers from our farm. Also wanting to 'show off' some other Hawaiian grown products; you will find an array of locally grown fruits, coffee, sugar and even North Shore grown chocolate to greet you on arrival.

The house is on the windward side of Oahu so you look up at the Koolau Mountains from the yard and the views from the Bay are spectacular!! You will recognize some of the scenery from movies filmed nearby. Kualoa Ranch is 5 minutes away offering a variety of fun activities and Polynesian Cultural Center is 20 minutes further north. One of our neighbors (Hawaiian Canoe Adventures), several properties down, offers canoe sailing, a very exciting sport when the tradewinds are blowing strong.

  Our visit to the Peacock House was fabulous. The location is great -- close enough to Waikiki to drive in for dinner but also remote enough for privacy and with easy access to the North Shore. The house is comfortable and lovely. Great, personal touches from the owners throughout. Staying on the fish/flower farm was a treat. Steve and Kathy made us feel like family. We even had a visit from the peacock, who alighted atop our house! Nothing like it anywhere else! I'll be back again with my 10-year old twins. They were mesmerized!

  Charming Retreat

  My husband and I stayed at the Peacock House in March for a 'Staycation', as we live in Kaneohe. The house is on the owner's property. The property is a lush, green, flower-filled paradise! Big shady trees are covered with orchids, fruit, and birds! Big peacocks and other birds roam the grounds, it's incredible! The owners also have many ponds full of goldfish. They were nice enough to give us a tour too! There is a wide grass covered path that meanders through the gardens to a private beach area. The view looks out at Chinaman's Hat, a conical shaped island. There is a gazebo on the beach, perfect for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine! The beach isn't a swimmable beach, but we took a canoe out to Chinaman's Hat and snorkeled around there. The water is bright blue and super clear! We also paddled over to Kualoa Beach Park and sat on the sandy beach there.
  The house has an outdoor shower, perfect for us when we got back from our paddle. The house is beautifully furnished! Bali style furniture with comfy chairs and couches are asking to be curled up in with a good book! The kitchen has a full oven/stove and a fridge, perfect for staying in and making a nice meal. The owners placed amazing flower arrangements around the cottage, adding to the charm. Fruit and chocolates left out were also a nice touch.
  All in all, we were completely enamored with the place and can't wait for our next 'staycation'! If you are looking for a relaxing retreat, off the beaten path on Oahu, look no further.
