Stack and Helen were so welcoming and helpful. The lovely old farmhouse was homey and relaxing for all of us. We enjoyed learning of its history and living amongst the old wares. It was great for the kids to be able to just be kids and enjoy the bikes, the swing and the yard. Our dog was welcome both inside and outside. Our kids were the perfect age to enjoy the place being 7 and 8, people with toddlers and wandering dogs should note that there is no fencing and the house is on a road that is fairly busy during the day. We loved having access to all the games and videos. Helen recommended the perfect quiet, local beach. Bliss!

We went to KI looking for a holiday with a difference.
Wanting to be able to completely unwind away from the hustle and bustle of our normal lives but also wanting to have plenty to explore as well as the convenience of some great local food.
We found exactly that at Dudley Villa with very hospitable owners, Stack and Helen.
The house is absolutely lovely and located close to the township of Penneshaw but far enough away so that you have all the privacy in the world.
The house is fully equipped so that you can dine in but the local food is also fantastic local food. We can highly recommend Fish down on North Terrace for great food and fast service.
Occasionally we would have to buy a newspaper so that we knew what day of the week it was. Now that is what I call a holiday!

There was never a dull moment with our stay in Dudley Villa. Everyone, from the kids, teens, and adults were able to find something entertaining such as books to read, movies to watch, and toys to play with. Staying here is highly recommended.

Only the two of us but it would be great accommodation for a family or a group booking. Everything you need is here at an affordable price. Tank water is in use so i guess this would be why there is no washing machine... not an issue for us as we were only here for 2 nights. Stack and Helen are just a phone call away if you need anything (including washing done) Lovely cool lime-stone house and comfy beds, much appreciated after exploring the islands tourists spots.
Loved the history books and photos- you really get a feel of what it was like back in early settlement days. A DVD collection is a bonus that we were not expecting Must watch the one about the orphans on Kangaroo Island.
All in all a lovely place to stay with plenty of room inside and out. -

Our hosts, Stack & Helen were very helpful. They helped us booked the Quad Bike Tour, Fishing Charter (A Must Do!) & gave us a contact for booking the Ferry at discounted rates before we left home. The Villa was spacious, clean & comfortable (especially the Living Room). Our only complaint was that there was no washing machine to do our dirty laundry after engaging in the various outdoor activities. However, Helen came round to pick up our dirty laundry (twice during our 4-night stay) & delivered the clean laundry back to us the very next day! What great service! The outdoor shed with the fishing gears & bikes was a little dusty though, so the kids didn't use the equipments.

Hi Lee, Many thanks for your feedback and am glad you enjoyed your stay.We are looking into the best possible soloution for washing machines but please remember that we are only on tank water and it is very precious. As indicated we are more than happy to launder for our guests as we have a commercial machine at home.As for the shed, sorry but that is what it is, a shed for storing play gear in.Hope you have a great 2013 stack and helen

We can definitely recommend this peaceful, clean "home away from home" to just about any-one. Helen & Stack are lovely people who has great attention to detail & made sure that anything you could possibly need is at Dudley Villa. Located just outside of Penneshaw it's the perfect base camp to explore the beautiful K.I. Next time though we'll make sure that we stay for longer! The accomodation & amenities are spotless, comfortable and is situated on a great property! What we loved most was the quirky/interesting collectables scattered all over the house! Gives great charm to such a character home. The only thing that we would suggest is that if you advertise your property as pet friendly you might need to consider having the property fully fenced as it is a bit scary letting your animals run around on a property adjoining the busiest road out of Penneshaw. However, Helen & Stack did do us a huge favour by watching puppy while we explored the conservation areas.

We recently returned from our trip to kangaroo island where we stayed at Dudley Villa. Our family group of 11 loved the villa. it was spacious and warm and inviting. Everything that we needed was at our fingertips. the kids especially appreciated the chocolate cake that Helen had left on the kitchen table. Stack had made arrangements for a vehicle for us and picked us up at the airport. he even took time the next day to take us on a full day of touring to make sure that got to see as much of the island as we could possible fit in one day. he had picked up groceries for us and on our tour day he had arranged a breakfast snack complete with homemade bananna bread. he also had purchased supplies for our barbcue lunch. They made our stay on the island so restful and easy!

We and our friends loved that it felt like a home not just a 'holiday' home. Dudley has everything that you could possibly need when away from home...from games, books, dvds, bikes and play equipment to keep the kids amused, which definitely makes for happy parents. There is nothing we can think of to fault about our stay at Dudley and will hopefully be back again sometime in the future, as Kangaroo Island is bigger and more beautiful than you think :)

Dudley Villa is ideal for families with small children. It is spacious and safe for children to run around and yet so close to fishing spots for the adults. A cozy house, with all the amenities you need, where you can relax and be comfortable after a day of exploring the island. We thank Helen and Stack for their hospitality and excellent service and all their help in booking our trip and making our stay in KI really worthwhile. It's a pity we can't stay for a week! We truly enjoyed our stay and will recommend Dudley Villa to our friends.

An impromptu return visit to Kangaroo Island after a decade was made all the more memorable by a well appointed and strategically located accommodation.
So many facilities, you needn't have left the property and still would have had a great week. The Villa was as much a part of our holiday as the Island itself, and regularly features in recollections to others.
Looking forward to returning for a summer adventure in the not too distant future.

This holiday was absolutely perfect, everything we could have wanted was their. Great to meet Stack on arrival and the kids loved the bikes in the shed. The kids could run outside and have lots of fun. Such a comfortable and relaxing place we have spread the word. All the kids could talk about for weeks after was going to Stacks house for the best holiday.
Thankyou for making our family holiday the most precious holiday memory we have. Thanks again. -

I stayed here for 2 nights with my parents who were visiting from the UK. Unlike some places who are funny about staying for 1 night only, Stack and Helen were very accomodating. When I booked the accomodation they sent a very helpful email suggesting what we should do on the island and even booked our ferry travel for us which meant we got a significant discount.
The location was fantastic, peaceful but on a sealed road, and close enough to go to penneshaw for food and to see the penguins. The accomodation was spotlessly clean, comfortable and lovely to stay in. It had character without being old fashioned.
Of all the places we stayed in on our travels this was the best and I'd love to stay here again. -

Left on 12/28/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We only had two nights at Dudley Villa, but they were two wonderful nights out of the cold wind and rain. We stayed on our first and last nights on KI and toured to the far reaches of the island in between.
Stack and Helen had the fire stoked and the house cosy for our arrivals. The villa was far enough from Peneshaw to give us peace and quiet and close enough to walk in for dinner.
Overall the experience was very good, with all you need right there to enjoy.Response from Stack and Helen Stevens - 12/29/2010
