Our lives tend to be extremely busy so staying at Blue Gums offered a few days of tranquility and quiet. The cottage is well equipped, in a great location and only a few minutes away from Kangaroo Valley's attractions - for us that meant on this occasion several bushwalks, one through masses of wild flowers, the other a steep climb under the escarpment.
The cottage is bright and airy; the bed is very comfortable; plenty of hot water; good cooking facilities - what more does anyone need.
We did not meet Phil but he was prompt and efficient, offered good, clear instructions and everything was in place for our stay.

This lovely comfortable lodge, without being pretentious, has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. It is situated in beautiful quiet surroundings, and the warming sun is a delight on chilly winter mornings. It is fascinating to watch the golfers from the verandah as they make their way up the course, and the very contented kangaroo mob who take up residence just metres away. We hope to be back.

From the time of our booking, we received excellent service. Confirmation, direction, details of Blue Gums & what was available to us, was all done with a personal touch. The owner Phil cares about the people renting his property. Blue Gums has everything you could want for comfort. Kangaroo Valley is a well kept secret. The views from the deck are picturesque! Ioften sit with a cup of coffee and look at the photos of that view, just to destress!

Clean, warm, has everything you need for a lively relaxing holiday. We loved the quiet (and the kangaroos!), the kids loved the space, the giant chess set. The cabin is well equipped. Phil was extremely responsive and I appreciated how quick and easy the organization was.

Hi Phil, Sorry that I have taken so long to do this review. John and I went down with the flu, when we arrived home..so have been trying to get back to normal...We all had a wonderful holiday at Blue Gum,our only complaint was it wasn't long enough,so much to see around the beautiful Kangaroo Valley...We really appreciated the extra night, thanks for organizing that for us...Hopefully it will not be too long before we can arrange time off work to book another few days...
Once again thanks, and hope you are well,
Kind regards,
John and Julia Forrester -

I keep going back there. Love it. Sometimes to play golf. But, more often than not, to enjoy a glass of wine and a good book on the deck. The town is lovely too. Great for winter relaxation, or summer on the tennis court or by the pool. Thanks for having us, Phil.

We stayed at the end of January 2012. It is set in a lovely, peaceful location. The tennis courts were near the cottage and were used by our children. We played golf and enjoyed walks around the area, enjoying the scenery and seeing the kangaroos. The cottage was rustic but had everything we needed including nice touches such as Dvds and books which was a bonus. The nightly rate was very reasonable.

What a lovely place. Peaceful & picturesque surrounds, & a very comfortable and well appointed cottage. We still found plenty to do in the surrounding areas despite a weekend of fairly heavy rain. All in all a very relaxing weekend for the family

We loved Blue Gums cottage, Kangaroo Valley and had a most relaxing 2 days away. So quiet and peaceful, we didn't want to leave, couldn't believe how close it was to Sydney. We enjoyed the sound of kookaburras, possums and also saw a kangaroo. The cottage is lovely and clean with extras such as cds, dvds, real coffee, tea, sugar and milk, lovely quilt covers and crisp linen etc. We swam in the country club pool and played tennis - it was wonderful. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and there was no trouble transferring the money and our bond was returned very quickly. Can't wait to stay at Blue Gums cottage again and have told all our friends and relations how wonderful it was, truly unique part of the State.

I have already given a review of our holiday at Blue Gums Cottage. From my memory I described the excellent amenities and how much we enjoyed the stay. The only down side were the ants in the kitchen and the need of a shelf near the bathroom vanity.

Owner
Hi McDonalds, thank you so much for your feedback and we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Blue Gums Cottage. Hmm, those pesky little ants, they come with the territory in some seasons when staying in the country but the cottage is treated regularly for pests and we scheduled another on receiving your comments.

Having the Golf club nearby was a bonus as we had a beautiful meal there and lovely stroll back.
We had lunch at the Friendly Inn next day and cruised the
interesting little shops as well as Tallowa Dam and Hampton
Bridge. We had a night in watching a DVD. We could have done with another toilet roll and had to buy some.Response from Phil - 04/26/2012
Owner
Hi Alice, thanks for being such great guests and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, you are welcome back anytime. We should have been clearer about where to locate extra supplies like toiletries, these can be found in the bathroom cabinet, we can assure you there will be no such problems next time you visit?

Left on 04/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We spent a weekend here in March 2012. The cottage is lovely (clean and very well equipped). Beautiful location right next to the golf course, yet peaceful.
Saw lots of wildlife around the golf course (snakes, kangaroos, long necked turtle and even a wombat). Would definitely recommend for a short break close to Sydney (even though we are not golfers)Response from Phil - 04/29/2012
Owner
Hi Sue, we are delighted you had such a great time at Blue Gums and saw so many of our native Australian animals nearby but as for seeing snakes, this is new to us and we've never seen any near the cottage and while I am sure they will be found if you go looking for them in the surrounding national park, they shy away from human activity and are not likely to be found near where people are staying..
