Anaheim, CAVery good experience
Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The condo was very clean. It is not a luxurious or new condo but very good value. Had all what one needs in the kitchen. Close to shopping centers. Since hiking is mostly on the West side, and since Poipu is well known for its beach, Poipu is more central but more expensive. Nevertheless it is still a very good location to go to the East/North as well as the West. Very helpful assistants in the office. Many restaurants close by. No parking or internet issues. Beautiful view of the ocean. Superb sunrise. Will return.

We have stayed @ Kapaa Shores before,3 other times in fact before this stay. By far this unit was the best.Clean and very well maintained. And of course the staff @ Kapaa Shores is top shelf. They will always go the extra mile to help your stay is as pleasant as possible. My only issue, and it is certainly one I could live with was that the sleeper in the living area was not a queen as advertised.Other than that it is the perfect place to spend a vacation on Kauai.

San Diego, CABeautiful view!
Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My husband, 2 sons (ages 8 and 6), and I stayed here July 2012. The view from the balcony is spectacular. Even though the condo is oceanfront, you cannot go swimming there. There is a man-made "reef/tidepools" at the ocean's edge that you can explore. Our first morning, we went down there to see all the sea creatures (sea cucumbers, fish, urchin). Across the street is Kapaa shopping center complete with grocery and other shops. Just cross the street for supplies. Super convenient.
There is no elevator so be prepared to carry your beach gear, luggage, groceries, or sleeping child up a flight of stairs. The in-room free wifi is a must-have! There are 2 laundry rooms on-site.
The unit was well-stocked with everything you'll need for your vacation. Beach and pool towels, dish soap, ice chest, beach chairs. We would stay here again. -

SeattleA relaxing, refreshing island getaway.
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Kauai is our favorite island and Kapaa Shore is the only place we ever stay. The staff and other guests are friendly, the grounds are impeccably maintained and the ocean front location is gorgeous. We like the mid-island location (easy to head north or south) and the proximity to the walking/running path through Kapaa is great. Unit 202 is perfect; nicely decorated, has wi-fi, the kitchen is very well appointed and equipped for those who like to do their own cooking. Close proximity to Safeway for grocery needs. Kapaa Shore is low key, relaxing, and well maintained. Our extended family has been staying there for decades.

Left on 03/28/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Rented the unit for a month. It has all the comforts of home with little upkeep. The resort is conveniently located between the touristy spots on the island (Princeville & Poipu). Right outside the condo is a concrete bike/walking/jogging trail which runs almost five miles. Within a short walk there's a Safeway, Foodland, Long's, beaches, restaurants and fast food places.

We enjoyed our stay at Kapaa Shores resort. Highlights were the number of amenities in the suite (e.g., lawn chairs, boogie boards, books on birds and hiking, dvd players, fully outfitted kitchen, etc.), and the services offered by resort (including tennis rackets and balls, dvd rentals, prompt and courteous service). The suite itself is a little dated although the bathroom is freshly renovated. The kitchen is due for updating and I understand that is planned. The carpet in the suite probably isn't that old but looks a bit shabby and felt damp under foot - ceramic tile would look classier and be easier to keep clean. Finally, the entrance door lock need improving - we didn't have any trouble but the lack of a dead bolt or some other form of secure entry systemwas a bit disconcerting.

Mahalo for your review! Yes, "as we speak', plans are under way this month to re-tile the bathroom, hall & kitchen. New kitchen cabinets are coming in May as well! This is a very popular unit due to the many upgrades that are in place & coming! The dampness on the carpet is from the constant sea breeze that comes directly off of the ocean into the condo. The prevailing winds are always blowing towards the shore so unfortunately (or fortunately) the damp feeling of the salt water in the air does not go away. :) We are certainly glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Kapaa shore Resort.

Decorated beautifully, comfortable and an incredible view. Sat on the deck over-looking the ocean watching for whales. Easy access to the other locations of the Island. Close to restaurants but also enjoyed grilling and eating at the condo.

Left on 03/17/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Very clean and tastefully decorated condo with all the amenities you need. The only thing separating you and the water is a few palms trees and a beautiful green lawn. Sit on the private lanai and watch whales and the sunrise. We saw several blows and even some breaching. Grounds are spacious, clean, and nicely planted with lots of tropical flowers. Very nice pool and hot tub and the people are always friendly. Bbqs located near the pool. This is a great location. 10 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes to the best snorkeling, Great shopping and dining at your fingertips. 4 of us stayed here and we were quite comfortable even thought its a one bedroom. The fold out couch was comfy and gives the perfect opportunity to watch the sunrise from your bed! Don't like getting up early - heavy drapes close in the darkness when you prefer not to watch the sunrise. We had our coffee in bed each morning and watched the sun come up. Perfect vacation!

We had a wonderful stay at Kapaa Shores. What a beautiful view from the lanai. You could hear the surf from the living room, look out at the ocean and enjoy the peaceful setting. Saw lots of whales. The unit was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Close to restaurants and shopping. We would definately stay here again.

Great view (except for the remains of what looked like a torn down house next door), clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen could use new cabinets (drawers in particular) because they where were difficult to pull out, and made alot of noise doing it. The ceiling must be weakening because the noise from the folks above was quite annoying.
Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 11/01/2010

aloha! We do agree; the view is great. This unit does have new furnishings and is very nicely decorated! We will check on the cabinets and it's operations....unfortunately sometime you can hear noise from above when staying in a condo. One call to management and we would have been happy to follow up on the noise for you! aloha from Kaua`i, Garden Island Properties

Christmas in Kauai is an experience everyone should have. Fewer crowds, friendly people, and great weather. Kapaa Shores is convenient to stroes and restaurants, the staff is friendly and helpful, the condos have the best sunrise and sunset view. I'll be back next year!

Indianapolis, INCentral Location, Gorgeous View
Left on 07/20/2009 for a stay in May 2007
We had an Ocean Front unit on our honeymoon and it was great.
The Good:
There were restaurants and shops within walking distance. Listening to the Ocean all night was very relaxing. The central location made it easy to drive anywhere. The view from the balcony was nothing but palm trees and ocean.
The Bad:
The biggest negative is that the beach in front of the hotel isn't really a beach, it's not really swimmable. So if you're bringing kids I would find somewhere with a usable beach. The traffic in Kapa'a can be a little heavy around 5pm, but it doesn't last for very long and we never heard traffic from our room.
To be honest, we didn't really see our room that much. We were really just there to sleep and shower, and at night we would usually just rent a movie from the front desk and relax. -
