Kennewick WAWonderful Oceanfront View - Watched Whales From Lanai Daily!
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We had a wonderful stay March 28th through april 4th. Having a washer and dryer added to the convenience. The view was wonderful and we watched whales numerous times throughout the day from our lanai (priceless)! All the convenience of home (the kitchen is well equiped and we appreciated having extra items to use such as plastic wrap and foil. A full assortment of glassware including wine glasses and opener. Our daughter joined us and loved the unit too. We definitely will be back as the location was great and the unit was clean. The check-in and check-out was very easy too. I cannot say enough about what a great time we had. Thank You for all of the memories!!

This is an excellent condo, right by the sea with wonderful views. In the middle of the island so you can get everywhere easily. I would highly recommend.

Kirkland, WALoved Kapaa Shore #308!
Left on 09/28/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Family of 4 stayed here 8/30 - 9/13/12. Loved the view from the condo. Beautiful sunrise every day. There are 3 buildings at Kapaa Shore and #308 is in the building facing the ocean so you don't see the other buildings or the pool. We liked and prefer the smallness of this property. It is well kept up. We did use the pool and the jacuzzi a few times. We had no problem with the wi-fi in the condo. We had some minor issues with some things in the condo, like the knives not being sharp enough and a tape getting stuck in the VCR, but nothing that we felt compelled to call about (we left a detailed note). Overall, the condo is quite comfortable. No issues with noise (all you can hear is the wind and the ocean). We chose to stay in Kapaa because it's in the middle of the island and about the same travel time going north or south. Be aware that the condo is on the third floor so there are 4 flights of stairs. We would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone who likes a beautiful, low-key place to stay

St. LouisA central location is key!
Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We loved our time on the island! What an amazing and beautiful place! Kapaa Shore Resort is also a very nice place. Not overly fancy, but had everything we needed for our stay. The washer and Dryer in the unit was a very nice bonus and allowed us to bring only a minimal amount of clothes which saved us money b/c we didn't have to check any bags, we brought only carry-ons. Downtown Kapaa is a very pleasant little town and within walking distance also nearby is a paved walking/biking path that goes up the coast and provides some wonderful views of the ocean. Also right around the corner from the resort is a bike rental shop. We loved spending one of our days with a rental bike and biking up the coastal path. The people at the resort are very friendly and we enjoyed meeting new friends and striking up conversations with other guests in the hot tub. We ended almost everyday we were there with a dip in the hot tub so that is a very nice feature of the resort! My only complaint is that the internet in our unit (which was advertised as being complementary) wasn't working properly. We choose the unit b/c of the internet access as we did have to do some work while on vacation. Garden Island properties was somewhat difficult to reach b/c they are only in the office Mon-Fri. from 9am-4pm island time. When we finally had a day where we weren't out doing fun activities around the island during those hours, and we did contact them about the internet problem they were quick to resolve it and ended up giving us a free towel exchange and a late check-out b/c of the issue.
Kapaa is a great town to stay in on the island. Being roughly in the middle of the 1 road which goes around the island, it was very convenient when we went to the north shore, or to the south.

We stayed for a week, expect to return to the same unit next year for two weeks! The accomodations were more than comfortable, and the staff wonderful to work with. The unit is on the third floor, with no elevator, but we are in our 60's and the stair climb was good exercise! The resort is, for us, centrally located, facilitating sightseeing, dining and shopping, and the view from the unit is unobstructed ... nothing but lawn, palms, and ocean. What more could one ask? We stayed in unit 308 for 2 weeks . The unit was represented fairly well. Easy going office staff answered any questions. Grounds and pool area are spotless. The unit itself is perfect for 2 couples and everything we needed was there. We called about the top windows sticking and the friendly repair guy was there in a couple of hours and chatted with us about the island. Could be repainted. The paint was peeling a bit. (Could be from all the salt air) Good breeze meant the temp was comfortable all the time. No air conditioning needed. Walking distance to groceries and the cute downtown area.

Aloha and mahalo for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Kapaa Shore Resort. The salt air is constant so it require continous work. We are glad you had a good breeze. Only Concern is the cleanliness the steps and the way to the room was not that clean. Once you enter into the home. You feel good.

Great place, would stay there again.

water heater in unit was finally replaced but job not totally completed by installer...left msg at office on 1 Mar 2011 regarding this. Compensation should be to renters as had this problem continued water would have leaked into the lower level unit (208). It was awful to get cold water in the middle of a shower. Immediate attention is needed when it comes to water and the damage it may cause!
Broom in unit should be in garbage (bad condition). No check out instructions found in unit...probably wise to have those like other rentals/time share units!Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 03/17/2011

The property is very elegant and comfortable. It has an amazing view of the ocean from the balcony. Bikers path, health food store, yoga studio, great restaurants and much more are right there under your fingertips. Located in the heart of Kapaa but it feels quiet and privet. The condo has everything you need and beyond that. It felt just like home. Great management and service! Thank you.

Vancouver, BCUnit neglected, in need of repairs
Left on 01/15/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Great location, just steps from the ocean facing east. Wonderful sunrises and great vistas.
Kauai is a quieter island, so I think many people would go with the intention of spending a lot of time on R & R. With such a great view, many would book the accommodations with the idea of spending many hours just taking in the view itself, but the unit needs some attention before I would classify it as desirable. There is only one comfortable chair on the balcony--the rest are plastic. The livingroom furniture is not at all comfortable--no matter how many throw cushions you add. The TV is small so the speakers don't allow you to enjoy any movies. We spent most of our time asking one another 'did you catch what was just said' ever few minutes. Although it was advertised as 'able to fit 4 on the balcony for a meal', only two wine glasses and 2 regular glasses were provided. Kitchen also needs some regular pots and pans with lid--hard to cook an entire meal with one pot with a lid. Shower door fell off twice while having a shower, narrowly missing someone's foot. Baseboard in downstairs room fell off when the door was closed. Rattan furniture in same room filthy, as were the bathroom fans. No dresser for clothes in downstairs bedroom. Paint peeling on the ceilings. In the rental agreement we were asked to sign, it clearly said we were to close & lock all windows and doors when leaving the unit, yet the sliding door lock was completely rusted out. The security system is to put a wooden dowling in the track. All the stuff stored in the main living area under the stairs makes it look junky, and obviously wasn't cleaned well as I found an opened bag of candies in behind the TV in amongst the dust balls. Floor also wasn't washed well, as my white socks were black within a few minutes. TV remote didn't work --opening up the back, the batteries were coroded so we had to clean it up and replace them. Door to stacking washer/dryer wouldn't open. All round, disappointing.Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 09/07/2010

Let me get the negative out of the way immediately so I can get on to the good stuff:
1. The couch in the living room is terribly uncomfortable.
2. The agent who handles the bookings and problems was VERY slow to respond to calls/voice mails.
Now for the good stuff... we will continue to come back to this spot any time we're in Kauai'i. The condo came packed full of amenities - pool, lounge chairs, deck with deck furniture, all kinds of beach fun (noodles, beach balls, mats, snorkel stuff, ice chests), books, movies, dishes - all great!!! The location on the island is IDEAL. Centralized so it's not too far to either end of the island - great restaurants and grocery shopping a walk away, and the ocean is literally right off the back of the condo. Highly recommended! Thanks for making this condo available for us!!!Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 05/21/2010

Bellevue, WAToo Many Surprises
Left on 11/04/2009 for a stay in October 2009
The location was very convenient for shopping and getting around the island. However, there were too many surprises. I realize it is difficult to keep everything in perfect working order in a rental, but the fact that the Kapaa Shore development was in the midst of a major maintenance project was never mentioned in any of my pre rental inquiries. Based on discussions we had with some of the crew, this has been ongoing since last winter. Most of the time this was just a nuisance, but at times it was more troublesome and noisy. In addition, there were several little issues (stove burners that didn't work, broken toaster, inadequate ceiling fans, windows that couldn't be opened , etc.) that need to be addressed before I could recommend this as a vacation rental.
Liked best: Location (grocery shopping and beach and trail access).
Liked least: Overall condition and major exterior maintenance project.Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 05/13/2010

Mahalo for taking the time to send a review. We are sorry about the outside work on the building during your stay. It has been very difficult to project where on the property they will be working; they have been moving from one building to another; so we are never sure where they will be working from week to week. :( We do apologize for any inconvenience. Had we known during your stay, we would have been more than happy to address your concerns and relocate you. We are addressing your maintennace issues and again thank you for taking the time to let us know! aloha, Garden Island Properties Staff

ColoradoGreat view, condo needs updating.
Left on 08/19/2009 for a stay in August 2009
The check in process was smooth and we found our condo easily. We were
delighted with the view from the lani of the ocean and swaying palms.
There was a brisk breeze from the ocean every day from the trade winds
which cooled the condo to a nice temperature.
The location is right next to the Highway in the middle of Kapaa but since
the condo is on the opposite side of the building from the highway we never
heard traffic noise. There was a pool and tennis courts available but we
never used them. The beach at the condo is not suitable for swimming
because of rocks but it is pleasant for resting on provided lawn chairs in the
evening or enjoying the sunrise. You can walk to a nearby beach for a stroll
by walking through a small neighborhood of beach homes.
As far as the condo we thought it was clean and neat but needs updating.
Some paint is peeling and the fixtures were dated looking. We appreciated
the tile floors on the main living floor. The master bedroom closet wouldn't
open or close. One bed was noisy because of a plastic mattress cover. I
didn't find that out from my 15 year old until it was time to leave or I would
have taken that off. One child slept on the futon in the living room/kitchen
area which was fine but we couldn't watch the "larger" TV in the evening
after he was in bed. There was a small TV in the small bedroom (1 full and
1 twin) and a small TV in the loft where the master bedroom was. The king
sized bed was nice. The master bedroom was in an open loft so the TV
upstairs was easily heard by the sleeping child downstairs.
We especially appreciated the washer and dryer being in the condo. The
toaster was not great and there was a limited amount of dishes for 5 of us.
Had to provide own bathroom hand soap. We couldn't all sit in the kitchen
area with two stools at the counter and two chairs at the little breakfast
table which is a minor problem for breakfast.
Loved the use of a cooler, boogie boards, snoResponse from Garden Island Properties LLC - 05/21/2010

Richmond, CANice place right on the ocean
Left on 07/29/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We had a great vacation stay at this condo. It is a roomy 2-bedroom with all of the amenities and a fully stocked kitchen. We also enjoyed use of the pool and communal barbecue grill. The location is convenient, right in town and across the street from Safeway and Long's Drugs. When we couldn't find the carafe for our coffee maker, Sue from Garden Islands was available to help -- at 7:30 in the morning on a Sunday! The staff of the timeshare company that runs the majority of units at the complex was also friendly and helpful. The unit is currently for sale, and the owner (who lives in Canada) has fallen a bit behind on routine maintenance and upgrading. Nothing serious, but it might be nice if the livingroom sofa was upgraded (it's uncomfortable) and there was better lighting for reading. Trivial maintenance issues, but overall a nice condo in a great location.

The best location
Kapaa ShoresBest location on the island
Left on 07/20/2009 for a stay in January 2009
Things we liked the best: 1) The location of the Kapaa Shores with respect to the island. Centrally located. In other words it was between the north and south shores where we enjoyed most of our actvities. Shopping area was directly across the highway. 2) Service received from Garden Isle Properties was prompt and responsive. 3) We liked having high speed internet access available in the unit and also the use of a washer and dryer. 4) Price was reasonable
5) Units looked out over the ocean which gave the complex a very open but private setting. 6) The ocean walk. Walked along ocean to Donkey Beach every morning.
Things we least liked: 1)On the down side the unit was a little worn and could have used a thorough cleaning before we arrived at the unit. 2) The living room furniture was very uncomfortable.Response from Garden Island Properties LLC - 07/24/2009

Decent condo - needed some upgrading. Had a nice view off the upstairs master bedroom, which was an open loft bedroom. Best for a party of 2, even though there was a downstairs bedroom (no privacy for people in master bedroom).
Limited beach access close by. Had to climb to third floor (no elevator).

aloha and mahalo for responding to Flip Key. All of the 2 bedrooms are on the 3rd floor w/unfortunately no elevators :(...soon to come is a walking/bike bath right by Kapaa Shore extending all the way to Anahola and to Lydgate Beach to the south for easy beach access....this will surely be a great addition!
