Great place to stay while vacationing on Kauai. Easy to travel to the East and North of the island, yet still close enough to be in Lihue in a matter of 15 minutes. Have stated there before so was confortable and enjoyable. Nice bedroom, great beds and the sleeping couch was very confortable. Great to be able to cook some of our meals there. Would stay there again.

Kapa'a is a great location on the island of Kauai, and a nice old town itself. The central location puts all of the island within reach, and the beaches are beautiful. Plantation Hale was just right - clean, fully equipped, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. We'll certainly look forward to another stay there.

Plantation Hale is one of the best places to stay on the Coconut Coast, and Unit K-13 is in my opinion the best they have. Perfect for a single person or a couple who wants privacy. Not for big families due to the distance to pools, etc. I prefer quiet, so this unit is my favorite after 4 stays at PH over 6 years. btw, I was a Kauai resident for 5 years, and coconut coast is the best for tourists who want to experience it all. Close to the Giant, and all my favorite places on the north shore south shore, even Kokee and Kalalau, etc. Wailua golf course is public and one of the top rated in the nation, and is just 15-20 min drive away. (Kapaa traffic permitting)

Mahalo and we do agree Plantation Hale; due to it's affordability and comfort is a "HIdden Gem". Unit K13; being an end unit, on the 2nd floor, facing the ocean has it all! More upgrades coming soon to this already beautiful unit!!

CTCondo and Kapaa review
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
1st, for all those people who say you do not need air conditioning on Kauai, they are lying to you. We were there from July 9-16 and without air conditioning in the condo we would have been miserable at night. That is what makes Plantation Hall, condo K13 ideal because while most condos have no or one air conditioner in the living room this unit has two air conditioners (living room & Bedroom)and did we use them. There was little or no breeze the entire week and coming home at night the condo was hot even though we had the windows and drapes closed and just opening everything up when we got home was not cooling down the condo without the air conditioners. The unit is good and comfortable for 2 people. Being on 2nd floor allowed us to see the ocean which was approx a 5 minute walk but most likely you will not be able to swim in the areas that are walkable. The complex is very quiet and this unit is at the very end right before the Marriott Courtyard making it ideal. You can hear very little road noise as your patio faces the ocean instead of the road.
If you plan on doing day trips to the other parts of the island but want to stay in one location then Kapaa is a good location. However, it is not as fancy as the Northern and Southern resort communities and the beaches are not as nice but it is cheaper and you are in a central area for your day trips. Traffic can be rough if they are doing road work. There are 2 supermarkets right near the condo, good restuarants that are reasonably priced and a McDonalds & Burger King right down the street which was good for a quick breakfast when heading out early or a late night snack. If you plan on staying in one area and want good beaches then I would go with the other resort areas but be aware that they often do not have air conditioning. The south is much hotter and drier than the north. -

Being born and raised in the islands this trip home was just what the doctor order. Sue & Greg did a fantastic job at making the reservation process so easy. The condo was perfect and just what we wanted. The view was terrific and the beach close enough to take advantage of daily. Having Foodland so close was wonderful and convenient. Truly like being the end unit. I was a little concerned about the bathroom shower but other than that it was almost like being at home. We especially loved the golden rooster...don't lose him. We have already given some friends the unit number with glowing reviews. We'll definitely be booking this condo again. Thank you so very much!

VacavilleA relaxing and joyful week with every amenity we needed for a wo
Left on 01/29/2012 for a stay in January 2011
We received excellent service via email from Garden Island Properties before we arrived. On arrival at the apartments the check in was fine, the staff didn't offer us any information or advice but I suppose that was because we had hired the apartment through a separate company and they felt they didn't have to provide anything. The actual apartment was great, it was exactly as the photos showed and had a huge balcony, comfortable furniture, a fully equipped kitchen and two wonderfully comfortable beds. The bathroom was fine but could have just done with a bit more tlc, A little bit more cleaning around the edge of the tiles and a good scrub of the bathtub would have been nice, also a stopper for the bath tub would have been good.
It was really wonderful that there were beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler and the books were are real added bonus. We made use of the guidebooks to Kauai and we wrote in the guest book, it was fun reading what other people had written.
The view of the beach and the sea from our balcony was great and I hope that nothing ever gets built on the grass between the apartments as it was great to sit and look out at all the birds that congregated there in the mornings.
In previous reviews there was mention of the street light in the parking lot shining in through the window at night, this did happen but as long as you only used one pillow to sleep on, your head was lower than the sill so it didn't shine on your face. Thicker drapes in the bedroom would cure this. Other guests had mentioned the chickens keeping them awake at night, for us they only crowed during daylight and we liked them.
The home was what I expected for the price, it was in a wonderful location, we could walk to great restaurants at nearby hotels, we could walk to shops. We loved having the doors open with the sea breezes blowing in and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wanted to stay in Kauai for a budget price. We had a really fabulous time.

We lived in Wailua Homesteads in the 60s/70s. Three of our four children were born in Hawai'i. I worked in Kapa'a and drove through the coconut trees daily. For two weeks we got to live again near the shore. Wow! what nostalgia. The trades, the perfect blend of temps and humidity, living without the drone of air conditioner--it added up to total joy. Management even darkened for us one yardlight so we could sleep better! Thanks to Susan and Greg.

FinlandA nice stay at Plantation Hale K13
Left on 12/26/2009 for a stay in April 2008
The location of Plantation Hale is excellent, close to Kapaa and the Airport, and not far from anywhere. From the balcony you can see the ocean. The unit is clean and well furnished/equipped.
One nearby rooster was disturbingly loud.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and recommend the unit. Its quality/price relationship is very good. -

Left on 09/18/2009 for a stay in November 2008
This was our 3rd time staying in this particular complex. The changes we've seen have all been for the better. And the suite we stayed in was quite perfect with ocean view and a price that won't break the bank.
We love the area because of its central location.
The proximity of other complexes adds to the diversity we enjoy.
The only slight disappointment was the lack of quality stores in the nearby shopping centre. Too many 'ABC' type stores. There were a few smaller shops that were unique and interesting.
And we missed having a quality restaurant in that shopping centre.
Everything is within easy access and there are lots of other restaurants to enjoy.
We usually travel in late winter. This was our 1st visit in the fall. There were a few beaches that were closed because of tides for that time of year. We would go back to our late winter holiday.
Plus, Hawaii does have their version of 'winter'. Shops carry winter coats, hats, boots etc. We were looking for summer wear--good luck at that time of year. Some available, but very little.
We love Hawaii and look forward to our next trip.
We highly recommend Plantation Hale K13. Well situated and very comfortable!
Yours truly and Happy Vacationing,

We loved the location! Were able to walk to many things on the Coconut Coast! Would walk to Leppert's at night and then walk to the beach and have our Kauai Pie Coffee! Just sit and not do a thing except watch the the ocean!
The condo was quiet, and we will plan on making our third return to the Plantation Hale in 2011! -

Unit was in very nice condition. Had one maintenance item that was taken care of promptly.
Except for the Island-wide ever present chickens-4AM wake up call- it was a "week in Paradise".
Good access to most everywhere.
Nice hot tubs and BBQs -
