Condo 132 was very comfortable with air con, tv, wifi, a big comfy bed and mini kitchenette. Not to mention all the lovely personal touches that made our stay that much more enjoyable eg. travel guides, cooler bags and towels. The unit sits on the front corner of one of the unit blocks and is literally 20 steps from the beach (where we saw a monk seal!) and 10 steps from the pool/spa.
The best part about this unit though was its location. Situated in the most centrally located town, Kapaa, it made driving either north or south a breeze. There are also some fantastic restaurants and places to eat nearby (namely Kintaro's for amazing Japanese, Hukilau Lanai, for very nice seafood, the Fish Express right outside the hotel for poke and seared ahi). Located only 15 minutes from the airport as well you will not have trouble finding the Aston.
Checking in/out was a breeze. Mary emailed the specific directions to find the key from the lock box. It was great being able to walk straight in! If you are looking for a casual/relaxed place to stay in Kauai (between all the exploring and adventuring you definitely should be doing whilst on the island), then this is the place is for you. It isn't like the higher end hotels on the island, so do not expect such services.
It was perfect for our stay and we couldn't thank Mary enough for sharing this beautiful condo with us. Mahalo!

We had a privately owned suite (132) and it was amazing!
The room was very clean had everything we needed & more! Small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, blender, dishes, beach items, everything.
The room is right next to the pool/hot tub area & bar and looks out onto the beach, literally a 15 second walk away from the beach. Love this place! Highly recommend booking it, we booked it through Mary and it was so easy and she was so helpful. The wifi was awesome too!!! When we return to Kapaa we will be booking again!
We ate at Trees (a 2 minute walk away) and the food was incredible!!
Stayed February 2014, travelled as a couple.

My husband and I so enjoyed our recent 4 night stay at the privately owned unit 132 at Islander on the Beach. Mary (owner) has decorated and furnished it beautifully, comfortably, and smartly. We didn't need for anything and were more than pleased with her accommodations. We discussed more than once while there that we would like to return to Kauai and if so, would definitely book her place again. The location of the unit, the atmosphere of the hotel (staff, landscaping, etc.) were all just perfect. Facing the beach and having such a pretty view from our windows each morning as we got ready and drank coffee, ate breakfast, etc. was so relaxing. Things like having soft, plush towels in the bathroom and providing a box of Kleenex (most other units do not) go a long way with us and really made us feel at home. The bed linens, too, were amazing! Thanks, Mary, so much for providing such a beautiful place that really made the trip so comfortable and inviting during our time there. We do hope to be back.
Excellent apartment with great views and amenities

The apartment has a wonderful ocean view. It was clean and well stocked up with essential stuff like cutlery, cleaning supplies. The best part was they also supplied stuff like beach chairs, boogie boards, beach mats etc for free which was unexpected. The price seemed fair too. I would recommend this place to anyone on a budget who is still looking to stay at a great place with nice views.
Very nice place !

This condo was great place to stay on our honeymoon. It was big enough to stay in and relax but right on beach and close to great activities on the island. Only downside was the place could have been cleaned more upon arrival. Definitely recommended tho plus the owner Mary is very nice to work with. Read more
Thank you for the nice review. As for the cleaning it is outsourced company on island called Hawaii Care and Cleaning and not something I had immediate control over at that time and was not aware of. I do apologize for any inconveniences and have shared this review with the company. Again, I appreciate the nice review and hope that you return to us for your next vacation to Kauai.

Aston Islander on the Beach is a great location mid point Kauai in Kapaa and this unit 132 is steps from the ocean, pool and BBQ. Mary was a dream to deal with so no hesitation on money or information. This is not a luxury property for those looking for a resort but perfect for those wanting the biggest bang for their buck. The unit was very clean and I loved that it was downstairs opened to the lawn and seconds away from the pool, bar and Bbq's. I was a little concerned about security on a ground floor unit but that it was no problem at all. Few people up late and Islander on the beach hires security who walk the property. It was so great to be a step away from the outside that I will always try to get ground floor units everywhere in the future. The outside is always inside! One thing that was very impressive about the unit was the 5 star bedding. Memory foam bed topping and high quality sheets etc. Super comfy. My husband and I Bbq'd every night and used the rice cooker provided as well as the coffee pot, microwave and toaster oven. The staff at islander on the beach could not be better, super friendly. The cocoanut marketplace next door has great stores, Whalers General Store(will have everything you need at a great price- seriously) Eggberts- big yummy breakfasts with strong $2.50 mimosa's and bloody mary's, great shopping and a killer farmers market. Stay here if you want quality but are not fancy!
The perfect accommodations.

The stay in Kauai was a fairy tale. The accommodations were excellent, the resort staff was friendly. The view was unbelievable. We did hear the sunrise every morning directly from our room. If we have the opportunity to come back, there will be no hesitation insane here again!

What great service and communication from Mary. The property was just as we had hoped. The location of the unit was great access to the pool and beach. Just a few steps for both. The unit had everything we needed for our stay. It was great. It was a great place to spend our 30th anniversary and will always be remembered as one of the best!
Great place to stay!

Loved being on the first floor. Walk out your back door on to the grounds of the complex and the beach is right there. Very nice pool and out door bar area to sit, relax and enjoy the evenings.
Perfect Place and Perfect Resort

We had shopped around for a few months before deciding on where to stay. Have never been to Kauai. We really did not know where to start. My wife was apprehensive about not staying in a "resort" because you never know what you might get otherwise. We arrived to a resort, it had all the bells and whistles you would if you had rented from the front desk. Except we did not pay for the high cost of an ocean front unit. The unit was unbelieveable. It was clean and modernized, with a first class view. I do not think the site shows it off the way you see it in person. this was a first class, first rate resort and unit 132 was the perfect unit and location. We will definitely plan on renting with this owner again.
Nice little studio

The location of this unit within the complex is very nice. Just a few steps from the beach and pool. The poolside bar is nice but pretty spendy. It would have been nice to have some information in the condo as to nearby restaurants, shopping, beaches etc... Also some instructions for wi fi, tv channels, blue ray, safe...
I have never stayed in a condo that did not give you some basic information. Housekeeping needs to clean a bit better, we had hair in the shower from a previous guest. Overall experience was very nice. Just a few little things that weren't quite right. Read more
Thank you for your feedback. There is a owners guest book that has things to do and places to eat in the drawer of the night stand. Also in the front lobby there is a wonderful book for guests of every resturant and their menus. I will make sure to include how to use the wiifii in my book. At anytime a guest can call me or email me if they cannot locate something. I will take any and all suggestions to heart to ensure everyone has a perfect stay.

We could not have imagined a nice place. Really the pictures and description were helpful but its nothing like when we first walked in the unit. What a charming place, right on the ocean, walking distance to many activities, and centrally located to both sides of the island. Unit 132 was very cute, very clean and very very adorable. It was a perfect size for just my husband and I. I recommend walking down the beach and eating at all the places during happy hour. We found some great places to sit have dinner on the water. One thing I would change is after we left Unit 132 we stayed in Hanalai for a few days. We paid 1 half times more and wish we had stayed the whole time in 132. Much better value and better location. We will definatly be coming back. I want to mention that we were so glad to have had the bottom floor, a big plus.

This studio condo was a really great find! My husband, son and I had a fantastic time in Kauai and part of this was the condo.
It was easy to check-in and communicate with Mary, the owner. She was very helpful and cheerful. The condo is on the bottom floor so it was very easy to get around. My 2-year old just loooved to slide out of the bed in the morning and run outside to play on the grass. The ocean was very close but not too close to be concerned about my son's safety. Pool is right next door, along with the tiki bar :-) King size bed and little kitchenette, nice bathroom, beach equipment to use, TV (which we actually never turned on). I really could not ask for more. We were happy! I highly recommend this place!
Pleasant and relaxing.

This was beautiful. The entire unit is a 180 degree view of the ocean. Very peaceful and I never wanted to leave my lanai.
