      Great Location

Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Stayed at Unit 240 Islander on the Beach 1 week ago and was an excellent value. It was close to restaurants and shopping and we were able to walk to and from dinner. The unit was spotless and had a great view of the ocean and pool area. Used the BBQ area one evening to cook our Tuna caught fishing that day. Parking is minimal, but is available on the street close by if not in the parking lot.

65th Birthday Celebration in Romantic Setting

Left on 02/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed in two beautiful condos during our two week stay in Kauai. Both had comfortable beds and kitchenettes, lanai's and ocean views. Our stay in 116 allowed us to walk out onto the lanai and quickly capture pictures of sunrises or whales breaching. Also colorful birds with fantastic vocals were close by. The view from 240 was stunning, and rivaled those in the best restaurants. We often ate on the balcony, which offered a birds-eye view of flowering trees, the Polynesian pool and the Pacific Ocean in the background. Bill and I were thrilled with the accommodations in particular, and the island as a whole. Ellen

Rented for several weeks and it was perfect for one person, even two,for that length of time. It was clean, quiet, safe and convenient to the ocean and stores and restaurants. A lovely walkway along the ocean front. Wonderful pool and hot tub. My daughter lives in Kapaa and she was also impressed with the room and location. There was a laundry I could use and free wifi in the lobby of the hotel. I will definitely return there when I go back again. Judy

We loved the place... My little daughter woke up every morning to get out to the lanai and to run after the birds in the garden. Veronica is great and she helped us out with everything that we needed.
We give this place 5 stars and we recommend it to everybody who loves to spend some relaxing days in Kauai.

      Perfect in every way!

Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I were extremely pleased with Room 240 at The Islander on the Beach. We stayed there for a month in august and loved the conveniences of the room. The Islander has a comfortable, friendly atmosphere and is centrally located on the island. It's close to shopping and dining. We found the room to be very clean and the bed to be very comfortable. There is a beautiful plumeria tree that gives privacy to the lanai but still allows a gorgeous view of the pool, hot tub and the ocean. We enjoyed the pretty red headed cardinals that landed on our lanai railing while we ate our breakfast there every morning. We also appreciated the new a/C unit that worked great for those extra hot days. Veronica was so easy and accommodating to work with. We look forward to many more visits to the amazing island of Kauai and plan to stay in Room 240 again.

      Review of Unit #147
Veronica was lovely to deal with. We stayed one week. The rental arrangements were clearly and efficiently handled, on-site emergency contact was available, and she ensured that all details were in order. #147 has a lovely ocean view and ground-floor lanai, was clean and well appointed, and was suprisingly spacious with the pull-out couch and meals on the lanai. Finally, the resort personnel are very friendly and helpful, and Coconut Marketplace is literally right next door. Kauai is easily one of the most beautiful places on the planet! We will be back!

      A Few Tips
      1) A smaller, "budget-minded" rental isn't a bad idea, since you will probably spend most of your time out anyway (we did!). But the oceanfront room is very nice to have for breakfast or late snacks - worth that bit extra. We had breakfast and late evening coffee on the lanai every day, enjoying the sunrise over the ocean, or the tiki torches at night.
      2) Coconut Marketplace is quite expensive, especially Whaler's. We went up to the Safeway in Waipouli.
      3) The Island Grill is the exception in Coconut Marketplace, with good food at great prices. For fine dining, the Hukalau Lanai is a 3 min. walk up the path and was one of the best places we ate.
      3) There is an activity planning booth in Coconut Marketplace with much better rates on tours and activities. We paid between 2/3 and 1/2 what most of the people in line at the tour offices were paying.
      4) The kayaking adventure on the Wailua River was one of the best things we did! and the office is right there beside Islander on the Beach.
      5) We did not rent a car, but found that most places were reasonably accessible by public bus. If you really want to see the few sights and beaches that aren't, are not up for some walking, or have very early morning bookings, the bus won't work, though. Also, it comes once an hour for most routes, so you have to plan that out. The airport is easily do-able by bus, as well.

Great location and nice compact room with a great view overlooking the garden, pool and ocean.Poipu and Princeville each about 45-55 minutes. Within 1/2mile to Safeway, Foodland with Costco about 10 miles away.
Traveled last minute... owner had no problems with all the arrangements. Snorkeled, beached and picnic-ed at Poipu, Kea and Tunnels (north of Hanalei) my 9 & 11 yr olds (and us)loved it.

Perfect location at a great price!

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The landlady was amazing! She was incredible at communicating with us, giving us her cell phone number in the mainland. I was able to make my reservations last minute. She was also very organized, and gave us a list of things to know about the place.

The studio was on the 2nd floor and provided a partial view of the beach. Sunrise was amazing every morning. We liked that there was extra bedding and the kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cups, cutlery. Perfect for making sandwiches in the morning (nutella on toast was our fave). Our only gripe was that the unit came with 2 beach towels and a roll of toilet paper. I think we should have received more toilet paper...and if we weren't too cheap we could have used the dryer on the resort premises to dry our towels. The unit also had bamboo rugs for the beach in the balcony. We never used the pool and hot tub since they were closed really early in the morning and we were always asleep when we got home, but it's nice to have the option.

The town of Kapaa is the best to stay at on this Island. It's in the center of everything (North/South) and it has a Safeway and Starbucks which we found to be very useful.

What we liked the best was price (really good value), the location, the accessibility of the landlady, and the cleanliness of the place.
What we liked the least was the lack of plentiful toilet paper.

Overall, we would definitely recommend the place =) Thanks Veronica!

      Islander on the Beach #116

Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We liked The Islander Property because it was located 1/2 way between North and South shores. It was low key with a nice pool, Tiki Bar, Happy hour, paved beach path connecting to neighboring properties and we met nice people everyday. There are several restaurants and stores within walking distance and in Kapaa. The unit, #116, was updated, nicely furnished and comfortable. Great shower (head/water pressure) and plenty of bathroom counter space, The Kitchenette was very handy and appropriately stocked for contintenal type breakfasts, making sandwiches and bringing in take-out dinners. You could see/hear the ocean from the patio. It was a great launch point for our daily island touring and relaxing at the end of the day.

What a great stay we had in Kauai! The room was wonderful - just perfect for the three of us! The room was stocked with the essentials, and the beds were very comfortable - even the sleeper couch. We loved the location with the beach right outside our patio door and the pool close by. We enjoyed walking the beach every morning and evening. It was so relaxing to sit on the lanai and listen to the waves rolling in! We even saw a monk seal on the beach one day! The location of the Islander on the Beach complex is perfect as well - very centrally located to things on Kauai! We found the Coconut Marketplace to be very handy for shopping and food.

I would recommend your place to anyone going to Kauai! Thanks so much!

She is an amazing person and I really recommend you call her and rent her units. We stood in unit 147 perfect for a couple. We were there from 5/4/12 to 5/11/12 and had a great time its located in the perfect spot you can go to princeville in the North in 20 minutes or go to poipu in the south within 25 minutes. It is a great location. The resort is beutiful and they have everything you need. You will not go wrong renting her units. You will save in the long run. smallish but very satisfactory and an excellent location

Left on 04/03/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This is a no-nonsense setup and the price is right. The Islander is a nice, pleasantly casual, well-located, well-maintained facility. The room is pretty basic, but the necessities are all there. The sound and sight of the ocean and beach are available from the lanai, and the convenience of the location (food and shops, including a place to rent basic bikes for cheap, all very nearby on foot, and grocery shopping and Kapaa in easy reach) is a definite plus. Hot tub ad pool are right there, another plus.

The bed is good and firm though the bedding didn't fit it as well as we'd have liked. Furniture, TV, etc. all fine. Fridge and sink are pretty small, nice to have that and microwave, but after a few days we start missing a real kitchen. The place is on the compact side overall, but of course the idea in Kauai is not to stay home!

Probably the one sub-par thing is that the parking lot doesn't have quite enough spaces for all who use it, so there are times when no spots are available.

Thank you Pete for coming back this year again!
We know that Islander has the parking shortage, but all guests parking needs are accommodating by Front Desk. If there is no parking available on-site (especially in evening hours) they will provide a parking pass to the next door property parking lot. Our Management and Board are working on the parking extension plan and we should have an adequate parking spaces in the near future.

Great location & view, reasonable rates, met our needs

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012

After extensive online property searches & contacts with other options, we stayed in #240 for 5 nights. The owner was responsive, professional and handled all booking matters in a forthright manner. We just got back last week so thus far, no unexpected post trip charges or other issues.
The property met our needs well. Centrally located, we used it mainly as a place to sleep and enjoy the morning & evening view. We toured almost the entire island (accessible by car) so were glad for a peaceful, quiet place to relax. The unit was as advertised and everything worked. Most meals were eaten in restaurants but we did have a few breakfast items and snacks in the room. The unit is not intended for serious cooking but did meet our modest food prep needs.
We often slept with the patio door open and enjoyed the ocean sounds and frequent breezes. We rarely used the aC but such would be quite useful in warmer weather. Apparently, some units in the complex are owned by the resort and appear to get daily housekeeping. This unit did not but this was made clear in the rental agreement and was not an issue. The unit was clean and suitably equipped.
We did not bring a computer but did attempt to use the lobby PC on our last night to get boarding passes for our departure. That experience was a nighmare that ran up excessive charges (nothing to do with this owner or booking) and blood pressure readings. The desk attendant admitted it was a screwed up system which depends on a vendor the resort had contracted with. We chose to avoid wasting more vacation contacting "customer support" in India. The attendant eventually rescued us by printing passes on the desk computer but what a frustrating, irritating way to wind up a vacation. Avoid the lobby PC if possible & try one at the local library as we did on Oahu or find the local internet cafe.

This rental was great and we would use it again.

Great Place to Stay in Kauai'i

Left on 12/09/2011 for a stay in December 2011

Just returned from a week in Veronica's Islander on the Beach condo - #240.

The condo was clean, comfortable and up to date. The kitchen was minimal as described but with a little creativity, like buying food one day at a time, making use of the property's bbq and eating in some of the local establishments we made out quite well for food.

The aston property was clean and comfortable. Although the pool is smallish, it was never an issue as there were never any crowds on its deck.

Kapa'a is an excellent place to stay if you want to move around the whole island.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kauai'i and hope to stay with Veronica again.

      Wonderful Experience

Left on 09/14/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My wife and I decided to spend all 11 vacation days on our favorite island Kauai this summer. We found owner units 116 and 240 at Islander on the Beach. The two units were immaculately clean with air conditioning and a good view of the ocean from unit 240 lanai, all for rates less than half of the aston rates. The location of the Islander next to the Coconut Palms Marketplace afforded access to the various restaurants and shops next door. Not to be missed are breakfast at Eggbert's, dessert at Lappert's, and dinner at the Fish Hut, all at the marketplace next door. We were able to sit for hours at the ocean edge under trees on the beach in front of the Islander with great views up and down the beach. Finding parking spaces at the Islander after 7 pm is sometimes difficult due to the popularity of the Tress bar at the aston, but the security guard will give parking passes to owner's guests for the property next door after hours. The passes are a better alternative to being towed away as we witnessed for others parked on the road just outside the aston. Try not to keep the room key next to charge cards with magnetic strips. Our room key had to be re-magnetized at the aston office each day after 12 noon, until we isolated the room key from the credit cards and it didn't happen again. Located in Kapaa, we were able to tour to the north at Princeville one day and tour to the south at Waimea the next day. Being just a few miles from Lihue, the Islander is conveniently close to movie theaters, grocery stores, and department stores. Islander units 116 and 240 are definitely the place to stay for a wonderful vacation on the beautiful island of Kauai.

Veronica's Islander on the Beach studio #240 was the ideal place for the week a friend and I spent on Kauai! First, the price was unbeatable! The grounds are very impressive & immaculately groomed. There wasn't a day where we didn't see staff outside on hands and knees planting, weeding, and generally manicuring the property!

The condo itself is wonderfully renovated (I stayed there many years ago when it was a hotel called Kauai Islander Inn), and this unit is particularly well-equipped and delightfully appointed. I much prefer the travertine stone flooring to hotel carpeting!

The beach isn't really a "swimming beach" as the ocean is rougher on the East side, but we had a nice view of the ocean from 240, creating a very nice ambiance to the place. We are more the get out and drive and sightsee type; so that didn't matter to us. The pool was very nice along with the jacuzzi.

This location is great for quick trips to the North Shore or the South/West. There's an abundant choice of restaurants, shops, and food markets in all price ranges within steps to a couple miles of the property.

Veronica was lovely to work with & very prompt to respond to questions. She offers a great accommodation for anyone looking for a home base from which to explore the island or just to relax and watch the ocean or sun by the pool. In fact, I'd love to go back and spend a month or two!

My family and I just returned from a fabulous seven day trip to Kauai. We consider ourselves lucky to have found such a beautiful little condo, centrally located, right on the beach in Kapa'a for such an affordable price. It served as a perfect base from which to explore the island. The efficiency we stayed in, unit 116, is located on the ground floor and very accessible. We even were provided an ocean view from the lanai. In addition, the owner, Veronica is very accommodating and helpful.

However, if you are interested in spending all of your time in the water, you will want to look elsewhere. While the resort is located on a beach, rocks and rip tides make it unsafe for swimming. The alternative is to use the resort's swimming pool or drive to a beach where it is safe to swim and discover some incredibly beautiful beaches.

A pleasant studio quite reasonably priced in island-central Kapaa. Grounds were nicely maintained. Pool and hot tub were a nice addition. Hope to return again!

      Best Value on Kauai!

Left on 04/13/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Highly Recommend #240. Everything was as Veronica had described. The Islander was immaculately landscaped with lots of solitude and beauty that comes with a beachfront complex. The unexpected surprise was the convenience of all the stores, shops and restaurants so close by. Anyone who has stayed on the North or South sides knows a simple grocery run will take an hour minimum - in good traffic! Safeway, Foodland and Big Save all about a mile away.

This studio was very comfortable for my wife and I. We loved the flat screen TV and kitchenette. We didn't mind the lack of daily maid service as we are tidy folks - plus we saved big bucks as a result. Folks we met staying here via the aston Hotel were paying $130/night for the very same view/room!! Is daily maid service worth an extra $55 a night? Our savings paid for fun activities (Kayak, Luau) and rental car.

We will not hesitate to stay here again!

Aston Islander on the Beach was just an ideal place to stay in Kauai because of its proximity to a 4+ mile bike/running path along the ocean and affordable shops, beautiful grounds, warm and friendly staff, and farmers' market! The accommodations included a well-stocked kitchenette and the most comfortable beds we've ever experienced! The room was quiet and the pre-set airconditioning was set at a very comfortable temperature.

The room, bed and furniture were fine. Nice view from the lanai. Very nice facility, unpretentious and pretty with nice trees and shrubs, not elaborate but tasteful. Nice pool and hot tub, nice lobby, and real beach right there. We like the location being not far from shopping and eating places, bike rental, bike path, etc. One nice change would be re internet. It's in the lobby and could just barely get it on the lanai.
But that's a small problem. We'll come back!

      Far exceeded expectations

Kaua'i is the perfect getaway. And Veronica's studio condominium is ideal in terms of amenities, comfort, location on the island and location within the complex. The bathroom and bedroom/living room/kitchenette is more spacious than the photos suggest. The decor is exquisite. The resort is maintained immaculately with gorgeous landscape, virtually private beach, lovely pool and hot tub with grills for cooking dinner while watching whales breach in the distance. Shopping for food is convenient with three grocery stores and an excellent health food store within walking distance if you're reasonably fit and convenience store, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, restaurants and gift shops next door. The best farmer's market is a very short walk away on Tuesday mornings. Driving to the north side of the island for beaches, hiking, and botanical gardens and to the south side for Waimea Canyon, snorkeling and sightseeing is most convenient from accommodations located on the east side of Kaua'i.

This was a very special vacation for my now fiancée and I. Coming to Kauai with a plan to purpose I wanted everything to be perfect and to make sure our stay there was amazing. The unit we stayed in was very affordable and accommodating. We had everything we needed and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. From the amazing sun rises waking us up in the morning to a nice stroll on the beach in the evenings. It was very well located and convenient for all our plans in Kauai.

We stayed at Veronica's condo for a week. From the time we made the reservation to the thank you note from Veronica when we returned home, everything was super! We really liked the central location from which we made day trips to attractions on all parts of the island. The condo was great because we were able to use the microwave and refrigerator for breakfasts and to pack picnic lunches. We loved the lanai with the view of the ocean. The facilities were well kept and the condo was immaculate and well-maintained. Overall, a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to book again!

      Great Place in Kapaa

Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010

My stay at Islander was really great. The location was easy to navigate from airport and central when you're traveling to north or south shore. Also, a plus is that it's right by Coconut Market Place. The beach is literally steps away so we just laid out under the sun and went back and forth to the room when we needed. Even at night, the weather is perfect you can just relax under the stars and stay as late as you want and just walk back. The room itself was just right. It was comfortable, clean, and had all amenities you needed from kitchenware to towels. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and spacious, air conditioning worked great and kept the room nice and cool, you have a nice view from your balcony, and it's private. Definitely well worth it. Thanks, Veronica!

      Great week in Kapa'a!

Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This is a cozy and quiet beachfront condo with a nice view of the courtyard (with pool, bar and bbq area) and the ocean! It's located in Kapa'a, which is centrally located on Kaua'i, which makes for a great starting point for all your activities on the Garden Isle!

The condo/studio has all amenities except a kitchen, which some people will miss, but others will be glad they have a valid reason to go out for diner every night! ;-) The a/c unit works very well, but it's a bit tricky to figure out, so read the manual (it shuts off when you open the front and/or balcony door). The condo is very clean and tidy. It has all towels, sheets, etc. even beach towels! To enjoy our breakfast on the lanai every morning was simply wonderful!

The Coconut Marketplace is right besides the resort! Very convenient for some casual shopping and a cone of Kaua'i own Lappert's icecream!

Supermarkets, good restaurants, stores, etc. are all in walking distance, although there are no specific walking paths or boulevards, so you'll have to walk along the beach or on the side of the main road, which can be tricky especially in the dark. So in the evening and at night it's better to take the car.

One minor point of improvement is the parking. The resort's parking lot has too little parking spots, even in low season when we were there (July). So when returning from a nice diner in the evening, you might have to park outside the gate, which is a bit strange, but not really something to worry too much about.

This is a great condo in a convenient central location, especially at the rates Veronica is charging, you'd have a hard time finding something better at this price!

The owner was very helpful in answering all our questions. The unit is very clean and well cared for. The beachfront property is beautiful. Being located next to Coconut Marketplace is a big plus with the availablity of supplies and small restaurants. The beds were very comfortable, and the room is extremely quiet. The entire grounds and lobby are very well managed. Central location is great.

      Great Room and Excellent Value

Left on 07/18/2010 for a stay in May 2010

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Islander during our recent trip to Kauai. The room was very clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, including free internet access, and offers great value for the money.
The resort has a pool area with grills, hot tub and cash bar, as well as easy beach access. The booking process was also very easy and owners were very helpful in providing information about the island.
The hotel is centrally located, which makes all the attractions on the island easily accessible, and is close to many great stores and restaurants. We’ll definitely be coming back during our next trip to Kauai.

My wife and I absolutely loved this place and Veronica was joy to work with. Every time we had a question or a situation arose she would always answer the phone (even with the time difference from Kauai to Chicago)! The room was very comfortable and right next to the beach. It's on the east side of the island so everything is close. We loved the central location, the service, the staff, Veronica, everything! She really did help make this our dream vacation!!
