San Luis ObispoTranquil location for those looking to have their own space
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My girlfriend and I recently rented this 2 bedroom house from Simon (the owner) in March 2013. Simon was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the whole process of securing the location, staying at the location, and checking out. I really appreciated that aspect of the experience.
As for the house itself, it was much more than we had expected. It's very difficult to tell from photos just how the place would look and what kind of experience we were going to have. However, once we located the property and accessed the parcel via the private gate, all of our expectations were met. The house is situated nicely on a hill that overlooks the 5 acre parcel. The vegetation on the property is mature and the immediate landscaping around the house itself is well maintained by the groundskeeper who lives onsite. If you are worried about privacy with an onsite groundskeeper, don't be. The second house is located away from your rental and screened by vegetation. You can feel comfortable having all the windows open throughout the day and night, letting the cool tropical breeze blow through, or spending time drinking your favorite cocktail on the spacious wrap-around deck.
As for the inside of the house, Simon has modern appliances and many conveniences that you can expect at your own home. My only disappointment was there there was no soap for the washer or the washing machine. For a 4 night stay, I didn't feel that I wanted to go out an buy supplies for the house. Not a big deal though. I was very happy to have a blender for the homemade aioli, a coffee maker for some morning joe, and some good pots and pans for making dinner.
I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to get away from the resort lifestyle and find comfort in having your own house. Simon and his wife are fantastic to deal with. I wouldn't look anywhere else if I was going to return to Kauai. It fit my needs perfectly.

This is the most beautiful vacation rental we ever booked. We loved the wrap around lanai, the kitchen and the master bedroom. Also the bath rooms were great, especially the master bathroom, very fancy and tasteful! Everything was very clean.
The surrounding area is wonderful, green, flowery, beautiful trees and palms, wild orchids, exotic birds, great views of mountains and waterfalls in the distance. It is very private and secluded.
The kitchen was well equipped with a nice dining area. The living area was a bit sparse, a recliner or two, an additional sofa maybe would have been nice.
The second bed room had a sleeper sofa, that my 16year old daughter slept on, she said it was uncomfortable. But these are minor things that can be fixed.
We found it a bit too small for a family with two teens. It's great for a couple, a family with one child, or small children. The directions to the property were confusing.
All in all though we recommend it highly. With only minor flaws and mostly breathtakingly beautiful, this is a great place for a very relaxing vacation. -

Redmond, WAThis isn't a house; it isn't a place; it's a destination.

"This can't be real," I recall commenting to my bride as we drove through the gate and down the private road toward the house. From her silence, I knew she was thinking the same. After a long flight from Seattle, the last thing we wanted from the house I had booked online for our honeymoon was any kind unpleasant surprise. More than that, I had secretly hoped for perfection in the form of comfort, inspiration, peace, solitude, and beauty. I felt relief finally approaching the house; it was hemmed in to the well-maintained tropical landscape like a Schlindler painting. The plants, the flowers, the birds, the rolling hills, and the far-off mountains answered my wish for inspiration and solitude. Strangely, I was afraid to park the jeep anywhere; I did not want to damage a single blade of grass. "It's real," she finally replied, taking it in, "and it's ours for a whole week. You did good - glad I married you." Yes, I did, and me too. And it got better inspecting the house, as I like to do. A wide porch wrapped the entire house, and from everywhere the views were beautiful and without a hint of a neighbor. Inside, a clean, well-thought design immediately made us feel comfortable. The kitchen was open and had modern appliances, which really pleased the amateur chef in us. It was all good, but then the real test came: the sheet test. I pulled back the covers on the bed and held my breath...spotless! - passed with flying colors. And so, the following week was a real blessing for us. Each morning we lingered on the porch watching the sunrise, listening to birds, and having breakfast. Much of our "house time" was spent on the porch, and those are the moments I will remember the most. Oh, that porch. No hotel room or condo can possibly compare. This place is unequaled. I wish we were there now.

San Francisco, CAA Beautiful and Serene location that we will always remember.
Left on 03/05/2010 for a stay in September 2009
I recently had the chance to visit the beutiful island of Kaui, Hawaii. Though I have been told that Kaui was pretty; words alone could not describe the beautiful and serene landscape I found my self in while staying in this Exotic Hideaway in Kapaa. This home is surrounded by all the native foliage that Hawaii in known for. My wife and were able to partake of the many activities that are offered on Kaui; such as riding ATVs, tubing down the irrigation canals near by, exploring the beautiful beaches and hiking the majestic canyons. Each day however, we could not wait to return to our serene, private vacation home. The location and the amenities were excellent. We would definitely recommend this home to our friends and family. We are already looking forward to a return stay ASAP!
