We enjoyed our stay at this place; it is a condo type place but is mellow and very nice; on the ocean with a good walking trail along the beach in both directions. Reasonably priced. There's a great fresh fish store/restaurant only feet away. You can grab fresh catch and grill it on the community grill by the pool (and bar). When we weren't hiking and touring beaches or snorkeling around the island, we rented bikes right there and went along the new 4.5 mile trail from Kapaa north. The kitchen does not include stove or oven but did have microwave and rice cooker so could prepare many meals in the condo. The deck and views are great, tho set back. Kept us out of the wind. We could hook up our kindle to TV (brought the cord) and stream a few movies at night. Very safe place. Nice staff and community. Liked north shore but also Kapaa. Great coffee shop in town.

We stayed at this unit in January 2013 (9 days). The location and complex are excellent with well kept grounds and facilities. The parking lot was very crowded when we arrived after a late flight but the security person approached us and indicated we could park in a reserved space as the unit was unoccupied. The unit itself was adequate for 2 people with basic equipment for preparing lite meals. The unit needs a thorough cleaning and a stronger vacuum for picking up the pesky sand that seems to follow one everywhere, even when shoes are left outside. It could also benefit from a coffee maker that does not require pre-packaged coffee (keeping a small stock on site for late arrivals would be very nice as well). It seems a shame to be in Hawaii and unable to enjoy the local coffee in the suite. Other people mentioned a hot plate but I did not notice one. The position of the television was a bit inconvenient for late night viewing while in the bed, but having a DVD player was great. Others mentioned the noise, we found the walls a bit thin, but the adjacent unit did not seem to be occupied very often. The only other issue was the Wireless system - although instructions were left for its use, the user name and password did not work on my iPad. There is free wifi in the lobby but it is very slow. I would stay at the complex again but might try a different unit to compare the cleanliness and amenities in the unit.

This was a good way to lay our heads down after a busy day, small, but intimate so it worked. It is a great central location for all activities available on the island. There aren't many complaints about this location, however we were pretty much left to our own devices. The lobby made it clear that they (the hotel) didn't have anything to do with the privately owned units, thus they were cordial but not real service oriented. The parking was crowded but the parking attendants were great. The biggest complaint we had, was the bar that was at the south end of the parking lot. The last three nights we were there were ridiculous as there was the drunk female and whoever she was with who decided 1-2 in the morning was a perfect time for at least an hour long screaming match in the parking lot, complete with some sort of fighting amongst the males. No one at the hotel or anywhere around seemed to have the initiative to call the cops or anything else making for 3 nights of not much sleep. For that reason I would hesitate to recommend this location.

Mahalo for your review.
Our check in instructions do suggest you call us for any issues you may have during your stay as we are on island (actually just a 1/2 mile away) and we would have been more than happy to assist you or give you suggestions as to the best way to handle them. Islander on the Beach is in a great location; central to the island for sighseeing, on the beach in a resort with other condo/hotels, shops, restaurants and lounges. -

Great place and really good location.
Although we knew that this was a studio with limited kitchen it really lacked the essential tools to make even simple meals such as bowls, a good sharp knife. The outside night lights are a real problem if you want fresh air for sleeping. -

The room was perfect for 2 people and the ammenties were ideal. However the closet had an extremely pungent vinegar odor an could not be used. The pillows were also dirty. Aside from that we had a blast.

My husband and I stayed in condo #201 for 5 days. The condo was very easy to live in and very well stocked. We especially appreciated the cooking burners for cooking our oatmeal in the morning. The kitchen island was a good addition. The unit was very clean and the view was wonderful.Every morning we enjoyed breakfast in the morning sun on the lanai,a perfect way to start the day "in Paradise". The location and the setting was perfect very laid back and conveniently located on the island. We would definitely come back to Islander on the Beach and we will highly recommend it to friends.

No problems getting the key and parking pass from the front desk. This rental in Kapaa is very central to everything and close to the airport. The bed was heavenly.. great choice of linens too.. We slept like babies. Clean and neat with nice decor that made us feel at home. Was gladly surprised that the couch turns into a sleeper! Great for a 4 person family, but there was only two of us.
We also loved the convenience of the safe and also the key lockbox, especially when we were only going to the jacuzzi and back and didn't want to deal with losing our room key.
One issue was that parking in the lot can be a problem, but that can't be helped when the property is fully booked. There's no elevator so you'll have to take the stairs one flight up. I tried to inquire about Wifi in the room via email (there was no indication of any password) but got no response. There is free Wifi in the hotel lobby, however, so that wasn't a huge problem.
Thank you for including the electric grill, pots, pans, utensils and rice cooker! I was quite happy with the rice cooker being there. We drove to the grocery store minutes away, came back, and cooked many meals in our room.
We would definitely stay here again and we'd highly recommend it to friends and family. -

This was our first trip to Hawaii and it was amazing! Unit 201 was perfect for our needs - nice lanai (balcony) looking out towards the pool and the beach! There is free WiFi access in the room. The condo is on he East side of the island so we were able to watch a beautiful sunrise on the beach one morning! Right next to the condo unit is a small shopping area that has everything - souvenir shops, restaurants, ice cream, coffee, even a small store to buy basic groceries/alcohol. Only a 10 minute walk to full grocery store, many more restaurants and Starbucks! Location is great - if you rent a car you can get almost anywhere on the island within about 1 hour. We had a fantastic time and would recommend Unit 201 to anyone!
