Fremont, CAOur Home away From Home in Kauai!
Left on 04/24/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This one bedroom cottage is located in a good central location on the island up the road from downtown Kapaa. It is a nice size cottage with a decent size living room and dining area. The views from the back deck are to die for. The owners Steve and Sarah are close by and are always available if you need something. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the property and all the fruit trees and birds and animals on the property. I would definitely stay here again.

Los Angeles, CAThe Real Kauai!
Left on 04/18/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Our stay was fantastic. The cottage is located high above Kapaa in the hilly countryside with beautiful mountain views. Centrally located on the island with a short drive to nice beaches, townlife, hiking trails and river activities. It was well furnished and stocked with bedding, towels, kitchen supplies, and beach gear. The owners were friendly, easy-going, and helpful with any questions or needs we had. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Kauai.

52128Wonderful cottage with amazing view and welcoming hosts
Left on 04/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Lovely private cottage with amazing views of the mountains, waterfall, running arabian horses... if the weather allows it. We had a spectacular view of rain, thunder and lightening too.
The cottage has all the amenities you will need, including a blender for smoothies or making margaritas.
Your hosts are very welcoming making sure you have all you need or you can ask them. They also came by with home made goodies and fresh fruit from their garden.
As is common on the island, chickens run around everywhere and they even have a domesticated pig called Barbie walking around. My husband and I had a wonderful experience and gladly recommend this place to anyone!Response from Steve Dubey - 04/21/2012

PortlandSpectacular views and great hosts on an amazing property!
Left on 01/19/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Arrival at Kalama Cottage is easy. All we did was drive to our own personal cottage, open the door and enjoy. A fruit bowl with fruit grown on site greeted us. With fresh tropical fruit in hand we stepped onto the porch that overlooked a lush valley and mountains. The pictures don't do it justice. Simply amazing!
The home itself suited our needs perfectly. It was clean, comfortable and included many extras. There was beach gear to use, like chairs, mats and snorkel gear. The space is perfect for a couple and includes wifi and cable for downtime. Fruit trees (star fruit, oranges, tangerine, and coconut) are abound and the living room and bedroom overlook the spectacular mountain and waterfall views. Everything you need is there and comfortable.
The host is also great. He has lived there for many years and has a dearth of local information if desired.
The best part, though, is that Kalama Cottage is private and secluded, yet close to town and beaches. It is the best of both worlds, providing a quite sanctuary when needed, without being too out of the way.
We will definitely be back again. Aloha and mahalo. -

Our stay at Kalama Cottage was perfect. The home was very clean with a bowl of fresh fruit and flowers on the table. The owner was extremely friendly and was there to greet us. The view of the mountains and waterfalls out the sliding glass doors and windows were stunning. We went hiking into the interior of the island from the Cottage and then took a short drive to the eastside beaches all in the same day. We liked the quite atmosphere and privacy of this rental and would highly recommend it.

Kalama cottage is in a tranquil setting off the beaten track. The mountain views from the deck can occupy one's gaze for hours each day; cool breezes continuoulsy blow throuh open windows; the surrounding yard includes trees laden with tropical fruits; nice hiking along quiet trails is just a short walk away. The cottage is clean, cozy, and equiped with a full kitchen, outdoor grill, and an audiovisual entertainment system...which I somehow never got around to use and didn't miss at all.

Lovely place w/ excellent service, nice and quiet (no early morning rooster calls), incredible view of mountain and surrounding open country. Nice trail leading to edge of mountain to jog on walk on. Fresh fruit and eggs on site! Close to Kapaa where the best Mexican Restaurant outside of Mexico is (Monico's Taqueria). Steve and Sara are excellent hosts. Lots of room for a couple or a family.
