The service was poor, no one met us to get in the unit on arrival and only by pure luck did we not have to spend the first night somewhere else. There were multiple maintenance problems in the unit and communications to get them fixed were difficult. After a week most things were fixed.
The unit is large, nicely furnished, with a large lanai with great views of the ocean. Two master bedrooms (one larger with great views) and a smaller third bedroom. Good sized living room, dining room and kitchen with top-end appliances.
The location is right above the prettiest beach in Hawaii and adjacent to the beachwalk which goes for a couple miles. Good restaurants nearby (especially Merriman's with great food and incredible views from it's deck). Not much shopping in Kapalua, need to go to towns to the south depending on what you are looking for. Great place to relax and watch whales in season.
We enjoy the beauty and lack of crowds in Kapalua. The unit was a great place to enjoy the area in luxury. Not sure we would deal with the same rental agent again.Response from Hawaii Bound Vacation rentals - 03/30/2012

Most of our Maui vacation rental homes have a lockbox with the key, so that a guest would never have a problem getting into their rental upon arrival. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances that led to our personal greeter being unavailable at the rental upon this guest’s arrival to Maui. On the rare occasion that a guest is unable to immediately check in to their accommodations, we strive to respond quickly with appropriate compensation and get them into their rental as soon as possible - in this case, it was approximately two hours.
All of our rentals are personally inspected by our company on a regular basis, but when the occasional maintenance issue arises we work hard to respond as quickly as possible to fix it. In most cases, maintenance workers are addressing the issue within 24 hours. We are a Maui-based company, and we pride ourselves on being available 24/7 to meet the needs of our guests. We truly do our best to make sure that in the end, Everyone is happy.
We really appreciated this client’s feedback. It can only help us to better serve our guests. We hope that they enjoyed their complimentary dinner and that in some small way it made up for any inconvenience. -
