Description from the manager
Inside the gated oceanfront community and set up on the hill overlooking Kapoho is a charming two-bedroom vacation rental cottage on a large private lot with ocean views over lava rock. The owners have done a beautiful job refurbishing this house.
You enter through French doors complete with glass knobs to find high ceilings and an open floor plan. The floors and kitchen countertops are richly tiled and almost all furnishings are new. This light and airy home will lull you into a relaxed state as you
watch the waves crash up on shore in the distance.
The living area is a large open space with window seats and lots of windows...Read more

Very good property especially for 2 people. Like the layout. Tough to find location, would suggest that it be initially located during daylight hours. Has wi-fi that works perfectly although this feature was not listed. Lock box failed to work on departure.

We had a great relaxing time. Wish we could have stayed longer. The only negative thing about the place ~ it had a bit of an ant problem.

Great private getaway. You'll feel like a local in this well-designed, quaint cottage. It is far from amenities so make sure to stock up before you arrive. You'll not be disappointed.

Wonderful place to spend a week of your life. The birds, frogs, and beautiful trees and plants/flowers are like a one of a kind experience. Having a hundred acres of lava in the back yard is something you will not soon forget. It's going to be very hard to explain to family and friends just how wonderful this place really is. I sit here and remember how peaceful the breeze and the perfect temperature is. It would be a very nice place to return to some day.

we had been told to expect rainy weather and were pleasantly surprised to have glorious weather..a bit of rain at night and sunny in the day..Kapoho Heights is an adventure to find but worth the trip... a perfect jumping off spot for hot pools, and volcano sightseeing... a few days on the quiet side round out the days spent in the sun and beaches of Kona... loved the sightseeing...and the fun of circumnavigating the Big Island... a beautiful home to enjoy for a few days

My husband and I recently stayed in this cottage in Kapoho Hgts. We loved this place, it was just the right size for us but could easily accomodate a family w/ children or multiple people traveling together. There was easy access to the Kapoho Tidal Pools - which was nice. We got up every more and walked along the shore. The beach here is mostly lava but does have some areas w/ black sand. The garden is lovely and the home has a nice deck or lanai. It was a very peaceful retreat. This is an ideal place for anyone wanting to get off the beaten track a bit (go off grid, I belive they say) and get away from the hotels and crowds. You feel like you are on your own island here - it was wonderful. The nearest town is Pahoa but Hilo is not far, many state parks in the area - Lava Tree and a Naturally warm hot pool maintained by the state. There were horse farms enroute so riding appeared to be readily available. We visited farmers markets in Hilo and shopped in the markets in Pahoa - for our groceries, although restaurants were close enough that you could go out for meals, although we chose to eat in several meals.
The property had plenty of clean towels, was very neat and clean both inside and out. The closest neighbor was a very friendly and helpful in providing us addiitonal tips on things to see in the area and directions.
We toured the Big Island this trip and stayed in Waikolo Village, in Keauhou Bay and here on this trip and the cottage location was by far the most peaceful and relaxing. -
Bellingham, WALove those tidepools!

Bad points first: the house had a few problems, such as a roof that leaked when it rained (and it rained a lot), and a very small,oddly-configured shower. The directions provided by the rental company were a little off but I figured it out eventually.
Good points: I liked the location very much. I wanted a rental that was private, removed from town, and had a nice yard. This fit the bill exactly. It was a 30 minute drive to see the lava flow, 20 minutes to the grocery store, 1 hour to Volcanoes NP, and the Kapoho tidepools were down the road. Hawaii Holiday staff were very, very nice and helpful when I made the reservation.
