We offer the rent of our beautiful, big colonial house from 1930 just a few miles from the very center of Copenhagen. It has three stories plus basement and sleeps up to 6 people (or 7 if at least one is a child) comfortably.

The first floor has a big living and dining room with a bay window and a fireplace as well as an office. Both rooms have recently been brought back to their original style. They are decorated in a mixture of old and new with brass chandeliers in the ceiling, an antique piano (still in use) and Italian and Danish design well mixed with Ikea.

There is also a small bathroom and a small but cosy kitchen. On the s...Read more

Additional Location Information

The house is situated in a quiet area on the island of Amager just outside the centre of Copenhagen. We love to live here because it is so close to many sites and activities but we also get the tranquility of the suburbs. We live in the middle of a residential area where most houses are 70-100 years old. It runs for miles and we love to stroll through it and look at all the very different but well kept houses.

There are 6 supermarkets within 10 min. walk. You can bike to Tivoli in 15 minutes and to the beach in 10 minutes. Sweden is only a short drive away. The closest café is 1 mile/1,5 km away. The public transportation system is excellent but we are also close to the freeway for longer trips.

Amager itself has many attractions. There is only 1 mile/1,5 km to the sea with a marina and a brand new laguna that was finished in '05. There is the town of Dragoer – a quaint little fishing village with cobbled streets and holly hogs. There is Amager Faelled which is an area for wild life (such as we have it in Denmark) with many paths on which to bike or hike, and towards town there are many shops and cafes as well as Scandinavia’s biggest and most recent shopping center.

This whole island was originally farming country. Later it became a place for factories and working class in the area closest to the old city. Now, however, it is changing into a wonderful mixture of working class 1930 and upscale 2010. The population is very diverse, and there is plenty of room for everybody.

Copenhagen is a charming old city, over 1.000 years old. It has just the right size for walking almost everywhere and all the atmosphere of old Europe, that you could wish for. Being the capital of Denmark it also has lots of café’s, restaurants and a different way of doing things (e.g. free bicycles and the first country to legalize same-sex marriages). We always recommend a tour of the harbour where you will se both parts of the medieval city and brand new architecture, such as the new addition to the Royal Library – The Black Diamond.

After 200 years of all Danish architects Copenhagen is almost a Who's Who on famous international architects, all doing projects around the habour or in Ørestaden.

Other historic places like Kronborg (Hamlet, you know!) are within an hours drive, and on the way you will find Lousiana – world known museum of modern art. At the same distance you will also find the genuine Viking ships dug out of Roskilde Fjord.

You'll find free street parking by the house as well as excellent public transportation.
Though we do not have much in the way of rough and impressive nature, there are many beautiful forests and lakes for hiking.

For children there is Tivoli, of course. Bakken is another amusement park in the middle of a charming forest. We have an exploratorium, a Zoo and many other attractions. We’ll be happy to recommend playgrounds as well as kid-friendly restaurants.
