Description from the owner
Mahalo for showing an interest in Kalawais Hale;Kalawais;s room...We are doing this as a fundraising project with the choice of a B&B; style listing or the options to use other rooms in the home on a donation basis. We are fundraising for Kalawai with her music, Kawailele(Josie) 12 yrs old for her new school, Kamehameha schools and Stand Up Paddling, along with their little brother Alex 10 years for his Stand Up paddling.
We mainly do Kalawai's and Kawailele's rooms for $80 per night but we can add on rooms until the whole house is taken. If you want the whole house, then Kawailele's (Josie) room and Kalawai's is $150 and then $25 for A...Read more

Additional Location Information
Kalawai's Hale is one minute away from Hotel Molokai heading East. We are 2 miles outside of town and very central to go East or West.
The property is connected to two lots which makes the house feel a lot more spacious than a regular house lot. We sit on about 3/4 acre combined with the two other house lots.
There is ample space for parking and we are continuously landscaping the property.

Honolulu, Hawaiicomfortable, great location
Left on 05/05/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Clare is a great hostess. She knows Molokai well, had some great tips for things to do. The location is great, not too far out of town and quiet. Evenings sitting outside or relaxing in the hammock enjoying a glass of wine and seeing the mountain range behind you is a perfect end to the day. The idea behind renting Kalawai's Hale to raise money to help toward her daughters music education is appealing as well. We had a lovely stay. Mahalo nui loa, Clare.

Molokai is a no frills place! Clair's daughter's room was perfect for us, no frills but comfortable. We felt like natives! It was quiet, clean and no tv to distract from the tranquility. The roosters waken you in the very early morning, so "brother" just use ear plugs! The bathroom was basic (cememt no tile)but, what the heck, everything worked! We loved the hammock in the yard where we star gazed. We couldn't have asked for a better place. Claire and her children were wonderful hoasts at that! Mahalo!

I am so happy I got to meet Clare and her family. They are extremely thoughtful and went above and beyond all expectations I had.
The room is gorgeous and self contained. I think the bed is even more comfortable then mine is at home.
I highly reccommend this rental...the price is affordable and the accommodation is spectacular. -

I stayed in Kalawai's hale from 2/28/11 through 3/3/11 and was touched by the friendliness and welcoming spirit of this house and family. The property is located in a great location and the room is large, clean and private. Clare (the homeowner and also business owner of Molokai Outdoor activities) lead a magnificent tour in Kalaupapa as well as a kayaking trip with the most amazing whale and sea turtle activity. Thank you Clare for making this a trip I will never forget!

Centrally located, close to town for resupply, and backed up by an incredible amount of resources both in equipment (whatever you need) and knowledge (Ms Clare-you are amazing in knowhow of the island, people, sights and sites, the water and all it's creatures. You made our life and trip easier with the ride to and from the airport, use of car, and being available to answer our assorted and oddball questions. Not your standard/average rental!
Looking for something really Molokai, here you will have found it... -

My family of 4 had a very nice stay at Clare's home from Jan. 12-Jan. 26th. We rented the whole house for 2 weeks. Clare's first time gone for so long and it worked out quite well for
us anyway. Got the chance to really see and get to know the island of Molokai and it's very
friendly people! Enjoyed Kalaupapa and whale watching particularly but also the little things like music at the hotel nightly but especially Friday nights and at the Coffee Business
on Sun. afternoons. Clare was very accommodating and arranged for the young adults to use the kayaks, snorkel (except the water was too murky while we were there). arranged a flight into Kalaupapa for us and the whale watching. All in all I think it went
well for all of us although I'm sure it was hard to be out of your home for 2 weeks trying to run a business and get kids to school! Thanks so much Clare. -

What a wonderful room with bath and great family hosts. Neat, Clean, and comfortable bed. Good ventilation and air if needed. Rental car clean and right there available. It is a real Hawaiian cultural experience. Host also has a company that focuses on the fun side of the ocean and Molokai. Makes one want to stay longer!

Kalawai's Hale is homey and comfortable, and Clare and her family are completely welcoming. Clare is also an outfitter/tour guide so you have an in-house kayaking and rainforest tour guide. She provides boats, gear, staff and transportation as well as her extensive knowledge of the island. My teenage son and I look back very fondly on the two days we stayed with Clare and got to know Molokai.

Wanted a homestay experience with a local family for my student from Japan. And I got so very much more from our stay. Clare and the kids made us feel like family. We ate delicious mango picked from the tree for breakfast and had beer under the stars. If you want to experience the aloha spirit of Hawaii go spend some time at Kalawai's Hale.

Care's warmth and hospitality and spirit of aloha are her shining attributes. She welcomes guests and treats them like family - maybe a long lost cousin or traveling auntie.
Love her and her kids and her place. Only wish it were a bit cleaner. I'm not fastidious, but I don't think all travelers would be able to fit into the laid back lifestyle of a Molokai malahini and family.

Mahalo for your comments....since then much improvement and continue to do so.......as this all started with fundraising ideas, we strive to make Kalawai's hale a place that people want to stay at....
