Additional Location Information
NEIGHBORHOOD
The property is located in Hawaiian Paradise Park, approximately 25-30 minutes southeast of the Hilo Airport. Paradise Park is the second largest subdivision in the United States with over 8,800 lots, an estimated 95% of which are one acre in size.
This results in a very low density, very green area, that is rural and largely undeveloped. Commercial activity within the park is very limited, and usually in the form of small farms.
Less than half the lots are developed, and most of those are used as single family home sites.

Northallerton, United KingdomGood accommodation with great ocean views
Left on 01/29/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed for 5-nights in midJanuary 2013 and were very pleased with the quality of the accommodation and the views from the poolside and garden. We were in the downstairs unit and with no one above us in the second floor unit until our last night we found it to be very quiet and relaxing. The owners just leave you to get on with things at your own pace but are there when or if needed.
With just the two of us we naturally had access to just the one bedroom which contained two beds. Not being sure of us sizes for beds we think these are classed as doubles which are probably a bit smaller than UK double size but fine nonetheless. Â The bathroom had a warm, powerful shower (over bath) and was a good size. The kitchenette and living area is as per the photographs so relatively compact but more than sufficient for its purpose. The kitchenette worktop area was small but again sufficient and included a microwave, coffee maker, toaster (with integral egg poacher) and a kettle, plus other items. Outside there is a large gas BBQ. The decor and furnishings etc were excellent and tastefully done. The pool and garden areas were of a similar high standard.
Superb views of the ocean from inside the unit and poolside - we saw numerous whales most days. Between the garden and the sea edge is a public pathway which is very quiet only used by a few local people and tourists and in no way intrusive to the property. In fact chatting to passersby about the whales etc was part of the experience. The pool is separated from the gate and pathway by a large garden so you are in no way overlooked when poolside etc.
WiFi access was easy and fast. Tv included Netflix.
There are no shops or services on the development area so when arriving its a good idea to obtain food supplies etc on the way either in Hilo (for a larger selection) or in Keaau or Pahoa, both about 9 miles away. Access to the property is easy along a long undulating road into the development area.
In summary a very enjoyable stay in nice surroundings maintained to a high standard. -

My fiance and I stayed in a lower one-bedroom unit at this property. The views of the Hilo coast were amazing. Every morning we woke up and took relaxing walks along the cliff-side coast just steps away from our room. A tide-pool is just a short walk away.
The amenities are all first rate - the decor is luxurious and new, the pool and spa are relaxing, and the japanese landscaping are gorgeous. The owners were very helpful about giving suggestions about how to maximize our stay. We visited the Volcano national park, hot springs and Hilo Botanical Gardens based on their suggestions.
All together, our stay at this location helped make our trip to the big island one we'll never forget. I would highly recommend it.

I stayed for 6 nights with my friend. We had luxury time there.Amazing beautiful pool and garden. Many kinds of plant and tree are there. The sea is front of our room. They made us to be happy and to feel in heaven. In the pool I could release my mind and body.
And we enjoyed the farmer's market in Keaau on Sunday.
Owner told us how to enjoy there. It takes 20-25 minuts from Hilo. It's easy to drive.
I had many excellent experience there.
Next time I'd like to watch whales from there!
So I recommend this vacation rental to all my friends!! -

Honolulu and Los AngelesA great place to escape to.

The Big Island is one of the most remarkable places on earth. Snow capped mountains, spectacular fields of lava, rain forests dripping with orchids, waterfalls hundreds of feet high, the world's most active volcano...and every sort of adventure a traveler could ask for.
There are choices of every sort of accommodation available on the Big Island, but we prefer the luxury and quiet of a home like the Besser's.
Sited on a low lava cliff (about 10' above the water)fronting the ocean. The owners have lavished a tremendous amount of work on the landscaping with waterfalls, ponds, walking paths a zen garden, an infinity pool and hot tub. Each day the ponds are visited by a rare (and protected) pair of Nene Geese, the state bird of Hawaii.
If relaxation is what you look for in a vacation destination - a place to rejuvenate, renew relationships, and escape the pressures of day-to-day life - it's perfect. If you're looking for the real Hawaii this is it.
The volcano is a short drive away, and is a must for every first time visitor to the island. The local Farmer's Market is a great place to pick of the freshest produce and vast selection of arts and crafts.
We love the Big Island, and truly envy the life-style that the owners have achieved...you'll leave with two new friends
