    Additional Location Information

If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of touristy areas, we invite you to stay with us for a taste of rural island life.
You will find us on the eastern, and more lush, side of the Big Island of Hawaii, just 20 miles south of Hilo (between Kea'au and Pahoa in Hawaiian Paradise Park). We are centrally located, an excellent base for visiting the world’s most active volcano, lovely botanical gardens, thermal hot pools, black sand beaches, tropical rainforests, spectacular waterfalls and much, much more. It is just minutes to picturesque lava cliffs perfect for whale watching and turtle sightings, to little known hiking trails, or to the historic village of Pahoa with its quaint shops and choice of ethnic restaurants. Our family, long time residents living on site, will be very happy to point you in exciting directions.

      Charming

Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Nakukui is a little studio that sleeps 2 people but it has a wonderful cottage charm to it. It has a small kitchenette which is quite functional but with very limited cupboard space, a king size bed which is very comfy and Cindie the owner, is a wonderful and charming hostess who will talk to you like you are a welcomed guest. The property is about 30 minutes South of Hilo in a residential area but is located on a dead end street, therefore very quiet at night. We fell asleep to the sounds of the Coqui frogs every night. The nights are a cool and refreshing respite from the daily heat everywhere else on the Island. The property is close to Volcano National Park, the lava flow and Hilo. It's a perfect location for exploring the lush side of the Big Island. The only nitpik would be that it was a bit far to drive to Saddle Road to go up Mauna Kea.
