Description from the owner
We have two plantation-style bungalows (780 sq ft each) with vaulted ceilings, a spacious master bedroom featuring a king-sized bed with luxury linens, a glass tiled walk-in shower with garden views, and connected by a gracious 2,200 sq ft lanai (deck) and a beautiful pool. The Island Breeze Bungalows are located at the end of a secluded road in Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP). This place was really great and the owners makes the stay all about you while your there. I enjoyed each day and it was not too far from the city but just far enough away to relax and get losts of rest. The place was very clean and everything in the unit worked the shower has to be the best and the water was so refreshing and hot. Slept like a baby in the bed with all the windows open and the breeze blowing in!!! You will love this place and you will be happy to stayed at the Island Breeze Bungalow!

Very nice rental. Owners were great, friendly and available for advice if you wanted it. Bedroom, kitchen, living area large and modern. Pool was refreshing, frogs and geckos were friendly but vocal at night. We loved dark rainy nights but rained pounded down 6 inches and tin roof made it feel like more. Very enjoyable but Crackermonkey needed a nap most days. Great location to tour volcano, coast and Hilo. Highly recommend if you like secluded cozy atmosphere. Recommend you use GPS or call owner to find it even in day light.

We loved this Bungalo! It was equipped with all of the amenities that anyone could desire on a tropical vacation! Fluffy, spa quality bath towels, a swimming pool and barbeque area that was virtually exclusively available to us, a beautiful walk in "rainforest" shower with windows that opened out to a mostly lush tropical view, and a full kitchen too! At the time of our stay the hosts were residing in the other bungalo. They were very responsive to any questions or needs that we had and they were friendly, but provided us with plenty of space for privacy. This is a perfect getaway for those who want to get away from the crowds and for those who don't mind a short drive to reach the volcano, the town of Hilo, or if you have a jeep and want to drive to access Champagne Pond (which we highly recommend), but I would not recommend this Bungalo for those who like a touristy, action-packed nightlife scene. We absolutely loved our stay, the bed was very comfortable, and we were not bothered by the sound of rain or the Coqui frogs. If you are an especially light sleeper, you should still consider staying here and you just may want to bring ear plugs. We have stayed in many locations around the country and in several locations outside of the U.S. and while we are not what I would consider "High maintenance travelers," we do recognize and appreciate extra touches and fine accommodations. This vacation rental is right up there in our top ten overall best accommodations and we would stay there again the next time we visit the "Big Island."

Exquisitely appointed 1 bedroom villa with covered verandah, overlooking a pool on a beautifully landscaped property, easily accessed and a short drive from the ocean. Outstanding hosts provided us with excellent recommendations that added greatly to our vacation. Such a beautiful place to stay/relax.

Chicago, IllinoisIt truly is a piece of paradise
Left on 11/12/2012 for a stay in November 2012
I had the pleasure of staying at the Island Breeze Bungalows for a week in November and the place was amazing. The bungalow was beautiful, very nicely decorated, had the most comfortable king sized bed with great linens, an amazing shower, a terrific pool, miles of lanai to enjoy coffee or a cocktail, and the list goes on. The bungalow was perfectly located for everything I wanted to do on the Big Island. It's close to the volcano which is great for hiking, snorkeling, waterfalls, the botanical gardens, and the black sand beach.
I also can't say enough good things about the hosts Mike and Hamlet, they were very nice guys and extremely helpful in pointing me in the direction to all the great things to do and see on the Big Island. They really made my trip an enjoyable one with all of their suggestions. I've already booked my next trip to Hawaii and will be staying at Island Breeze again.
I highly recommend Island Breeze Bungalows if you're visiting the big island and want a luxurious, relaxing place to stay with great hosts. -

Ottawa, CanadaThe Pineapple Suite was a beautiful place to stay.
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My wife and I stayed with our 14 y.o. daughter during our recent trip to the BI. A little off the beaten path (this is a good thing!) the Pineapple Suite was incredibly well equipped and luxiuriously appointed. As one of two parts of the bungalow, the one bedroom Suite was separate but not far from the owner's quarters. Hamlett, the on-site owner, was incredibly helpful and courteous during our stay and was there for questions\suggestions. The gardens were stunning, the pool refreshing and the kitchen very well equipped. The owner stocks a lending library of 100's of videos. There is a separate dining area equipped with a gorgeous dining table, gas bbq and oven. There's no ocean view - no big deal - the coast is a short walk or bike away. Overall, this is a gem!

HonoluluPeaceful Getaway in Paradise
Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My wife and I were looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway after the hurly-burly of Honolulu. Island Breeze Bungalows fit the bill perfectly. First, the rooms were beautifully furnished and replete with all the modern conveniences. In our case, the weather was a bit cool and rainy but I remember sleeping peacefully with the rain falling on the roof. We Bbq'ed two nights and cooked many of our own breakfasts and lunches, so the rate was quite reasonable. Really an idyllic, country setting, but we ventured into Pahoa for some lovely evenings of dining. The cottage is close by Hilo, so we tried Pesto's one night for superb dining. i spent one whole day walking the trails at the Kiluea Volcano and still had time for some beer in Pahoa. Mike and Hamlet were not too intrusive, but volunteered good suggestions about dining and travel. We were able to relax and totally forget our cares for eight days and we're grateful! We'd go back any time!

154984Perfect getaway
Left on 06/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We came to Big Island from Canada for 10 days in May, 3 of which we spent on Hilo side. We enjoyed very much our stay at Island Breeze Bungalows. The location was very convenient for visiting the Volcano area, the Puna district and the waterfalls near Hilo (Rainbow Falls, Akaka Falls). The grounds and the pool are gorgeous, the bungalow was very clean, well appointed. The owners: very pleasant, not intruding on your privacy, helpful if you need it. I would recommend the Bungalows to all my friends who want to experience a piece of paradise on the Big Island.

295424Excellent accomodation
Left on 05/21/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This is a beautiful bungalow, with lots of privacy, excellent décor and nice ambience overall. It is central point to explore the wetter coast of the Big Island over a few days.
It consists of a large living room, with TV and Internet, a kitchen (granite and all), a bedroom with low rise four posters, and a very large bathroom. The décor is a mixture of Balinese and Polynesian (with some Hindu / Buddhist sculptures) and is very tasteful. There is also a wraparound deck that overlooks the pool (while technically shared with the owners bungalow, don’t expect them there). We stayed here with our 3 year old son, and it was more than enough (and much more spacious than a hotel).
The owners are nice and friendly. If you ask, they can help out with recommendations. The grounds are lush and green (be sure to bring insect repellent, however).
This place is slightly inland from the Hilo between Hilo and Pahoa (about 2.5 miles inside the highway). You have to take an unpaved road for the last half a mile (fine for all cars). Grocery store is about 15-20 minutes drive (which is normal for the big island). There is no beach nearby, but about be sure to check out the Volcano National Park (you can hike to or near lava flows better from this side and see lava glows from a distance at night), swim or snorkel in lava pools (one of them heated through volcanic heat), and a drive / short hike to akaka Falls. -

154913A lovely tropical home away from home
Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This is a very very nice place. The bungalow is lovely, small but perfect for 2 people. For 1 week we had a third who slept on the blow up bed and it was fine. The bungalow is nicely furnished with special touches. The bed is fantastic - huge and beautiful. As you can see from the pictures, the grounds and the pool are gorgeous. The new owners worked really really hard to bring the pool to pristine clarity in the first week (and thereafter) and even converted it to salt water. It was almost like our own private pool - very luxurious. It is shared with the owners in residence in the other bungalow - but absolutely not a problem.
One owner was there when we were, and it was great. Very personable and friendly, but also careful not to intrude on the guest's space. Any minor problem that we mentioned was immediately taken care of.
The area - sort of isolated, you definitely need a car. 20 minutes to a town to buy groceries, and 2 miles to the ocean front where you cannot swim because it is rough and has lava cliffs. But what a great place to take a lunch to and listen to the roar of the surf, and feast your eyes on the incomparable beauty of the turquoise water, white surf, and black rocks. There is lots to see and do on Hilo side of the island, and the one time we went to the Kona side (drier and a bit more commercialized) we decided that 'our' was definitely better, if more rainy.
Liked best - I think the pool.
Liked least - a bit too much rain at this time of year. The night downpours were fine, but we did get some daytime downpours as well.
