We loved the location, right on the surf. The bay was closed to Kayaks of any kind, which was very disappointing so check to see if it has opened up when you go if that is something you want to do. The downstairs is entered through the garage and is comfortable but only one bathroom with entry from either bedroom.

Our party of 6 people stayed at Kaikanani for 3 days and enjoyed every moment. The setting is remote and undisturbed, yet convenient to points of interest and activities on the West side of the Big Island. Already wish were were back.

We are a family of four and stayed at this lovely rental property for 6 nights. The agent, Sunquest Vacations were extremely helpful. This is a well appointed property that is clean and spacious and has all the comforts of home, even a great coffee maker. All the beds were really comfortable and there were plenty of soft towels in the two bathrooms. The location of the house is so perfect. At night, with the windows open, you fall alseep to the gentle sound of lapping waves, how perfect is that! It was an absolute pleasure to wake each morning to the gorgeous view of the Kealakekua Bay and to sit on the verandah for breakfast while watching the early morning activites on the bay. Just a short stroll away is the beautiful Manini Beach, which has a community garden that the locals lovingly care for. The beach is a great place to access the cystal clear water and snorkel about to see the delights of the underwater world. The neighbours are friendly and you can rent a kayak from them to cross the bay to visit the Captain Cook memorial and snorkel at one of the best local spots.
This is a fantastic place to 'chillax', with all the comforts of home. Best of all, you get to enjoy country Hawaiian hospitality and should you wish to explore the area, the Volcanoes National park is a great day trip from here, as is the North part of the island, if you need some excitement, we can recommend the Ziplining with Big Island Eco adventures. Local cafes we enjoyed were Big Jakes Island BBQ for the best smoked ribs and chicken. Paparinis for the best Pizza and Up Country Bakery has great Bagels and other breads/cakes. Down near the Bay you can't go past Lomanas for the local Fish burger. I had the pleasure of swimming with the local swimming group. Best of all, I swam out to the bay to enjoy seeing the local Spinner dolphins, as they took a rest from the open waters, what a previlage. This is a great place to stay for the perfect Big Island holiday. I would definitely come again.

I've been blessed to have stayed a Kaikanani for a number of years and it's always a healing and wonderful time with family and friends. Mahalo to Sunquest and the owners for all the malama and aloha that was always there and has been so lovingly nurtured since the tsunami. Looking forward to returning.

We received excellent service with Sunquest Vacations who were so good to help me organise my special health requirements while away from home and helpful with any tour bookings. Kaikanani has been very nicely renovated to make it a very pleasant home away from home. The kitchen, lounge and balcony were very spacious. The kitchen had every little thing one could need which was good as we like to cook our own food. The views over the beautiful kealakekua bay were just beautiful and we sat on the balcony and enjoyed seeing whales and dolphins every morning. The lock up garage was an added bonus. The bedroom was really nicely renovated as well and the bed was very comfortable.
Kealakekua bay is such a special place and we would stay there next time as it was just so beautiful and far enough away from the bustling touristy areas to enjoy our quiet little piece of paradise, but not to far to go and see them. The best thing was the fact that we could just jump straight into a kayak and go and paddle with dolphins, or snorkel in the bay and see turtles and beautiful coral first thing in the morning. We will stay at this beautiful home again next time for sure -

This house is fantastic. Right on the water, clean, with everything we needed, even a pair of binoculars. It is located in a neighborhood, where some damage was done by the tsunami. This is not a touristy area and some may be uncomfortable as the neighbors are living in tents. We found the people to be super nice. You can walk to a small local beach, explore local surf spots ,snorkel, kayak, and swim with dolphins. Make sure you know exactly where to pick up the key as we got a set of instructions that sent us driving to another property managed by Sunquest.

This was the first time he had visited the Big Island. After touring the whole island we still felt like we had picked the best place to stay. We loved being right on the shore. The view was amazing. The Bay had a ton of wildlife. The ocean breeze blowing through the house was very nice. We also enjoyed being able to snorkle, kyak, or fish on a whim without having to drive anywhere.
It's always a risk to pick a place to stay on vacation when you haven't actually been there; but I fill we lucked out when we picked the place.
