One of my new year's resolutions this year was to write a review of our visits to Hale Hihio. I am still a little behind in achieving this resolution, but it's finally going to happen. My sister and I found Hale Hihio on their Kauai website several years ago - I think 2006. Since then, we have been back every year to stay at Hale Hihio. The one word that best captures our visits is "tranquility". It offers a terrific opportunity to shed all your worldly cares and live happily in the moment. Hale Hihio is a lovely property with a wrap around lanai facing the ocean. Early mornings out on the lanai are the best way to start the day. The house is always in tiptop shape and delivers all the comforts of home. We especially like the open great room with a well stocked kitchen, breakfast bar, and dining tables both inside and out. We're not always keen to trudge up the stairs to the living area, but have never been able to convince ourselves to give up the wonderful views and settle for a single story home. Kendall and the staff make sure that everything about the home is ready for each stay and are easily available if anything comes up, although in seven years, we have needed to call them just one time!
We especially like staying on the KeKaha side of the island where the weather is nearly always clear and sunny. At the same time, it's easy to get to Poipu, Lihue, and other parts of the island to sightsee and enjoy the beaches. The Obsessions Cafe in Waimea has become our go to restaurant for breakfast!

Great place, although the home is older than what the pictures suggest. Also, while the beach is only steps away, the house sits on a busy street and the beach is rocky. You have a walk about a mile north to get to a beach with sand. But otherwise, we had a great time here and very much enjoyed our stay! The wrap around porch in the back was fantastic. I wish it weren't right on the road, but it was wonderful to eat meals out there.

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to write a review. I am glad you enjoyed Hale Hihio and the breathtaking views it offers from the wrap around lanai.

We had such a wonderful time staying at Hale Hihio! We will be returning for a second stay only this time longer. The house is perfect for our family with 3 little kids. I liked that we were all on one level. The house provides ample space and cozy family time in paradise. It has everything you need and access to the quiet friendly west side of the island. You can't go wrong staying at Hale Hihio!

We want to take just a minute to let everyone know how much we enjoyed our stay in Hale Hihio. The home was so clean, nicely furnished, and accomodated our 3-couple group very comfortably. It is very conveniently located, and yet provides a beautiful scenic ocean setting. I can't think of a better way to awake than to the sound and sight of the Pacific Ocean just out the front door. We will certainly stay in Hale Hihio on our next visit to Kauai.

We had 2 parents and 4 adult children and we had a wonderful time! The house is very roomy. The kitchen is well-equipped. The wrap-around porch is marvelous for eating, relaxing or playing games, but especially for enjoying the sunsets! Spectcular! It's close to the awesome canyon, and easily accessible to the main highway to go anywhere. We loved it!

This was our second visit to Hale Hihio and we found it just as beautiful and relaxing as our first visit several years ago. The property is very well maintained and conveniently located for hiking, surfing, swimming, sunbathing, and great restaurants. Waking to the sound of gentle ocean waves, whale watching during breakfast, and cocktails each evening on the Lanai while experiencing fabulous sunsets will bring us back again and again.

Hale Hihio is truly an oceanside paradise suited for a wide range of travelers at an exceptional value. The location, a mere 20 paces from the beach, is unbeatable. The furniture, appliances, bedding, towels, and all amenities were fitting for the home and added to the feeling of being at the perfect beach get away.
The location on the island is conducive to all kinds of activities. My family was able to play tennis a few blocks from the house, stop by the local market, check out some wonderful local restaurants and art galleries, in addition to taking a bit of a drive to visit the more touristy areas for some more great restaurants.
All around fantastic place to call home while soaking up your time in paradise.Response from Kekaha Oceanside Kauai - 04/27/2011

Lincoln, NebraskaAnother Day in Paradise!
Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in December 2009
Our Kauai vacation was a once in a lifetime occasion where we were able to take our 3 boys and 1 daughter-in-law. And as we experienced all that the island had to offer, Hale Hihio was the ultimate retreat each morning and each evening! I just remember walking in the first night and thinking 'Wow, this is going to be perfect for the next 10 days!' And it was! We really liked the privacy of the Western side of the island and having the ocean just 100 feet away was incredible. We were able to walk to church and shops as well. My favorite memories are getting up at 5 am the first morning we were there and going on the lanai - the sky was the most awesome thing I'd ever experienced! The millions of stars felt so close and the sky was so pitch dark. This became my treat each morning - getting up early to enjoy the wonder of this sky and watch as morning unfolded. It was so peaceful and awe inspiring.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay during this once in a lifetime trip. My only wish is that it wasn't such a long plane ride to get there - otherwise we'd be figuring a way to get back there as soon as possible.
Also, we contacted Kendall a couple times and she was a ton of help and took care of things right away.
It was awesome, perfect, beautiful, etc... each day another day in paradise!Response from Kekaha Oceanside Kauai - 04/27/2011

This home offers a great view of the ocean from the lanai. It accommodated our group of 6 very comfortably. We enjoyed watching the whales perform for us while sipping our morning coffee each day. This is a great relaxing location, away from the commercialized areas of Kauai. Yet it is close to local dining and shopping establishments. We certainly enjoyed our two week visit to Hale Hihio.
