The farmhouse was just as described in the website and on the photos. The location was very easy to find with the help of a GPS. It was very warming and with the help of the excellent service by the owners of the vills, it was very cosy. Made our stay in Gozo an exceptional one :)

Zürich, SwitzerlandSehr schöne Villa
Left on 10/20/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Vielen Dank an diesen wunderbaren aufenthalt. -

GuernseyA thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This was our second time staying at Tal-Kitarra. We came back and were not disappointed. The transfers were quick and smooth. On arrival at the Villa, we had our pre-ordered shopping list and complimentary items as well including local tomatoes and a bottle of wine! We were met by Marvik's mother and she was friendly and helpful as always. We spent the two weeks either relaxing by the pool or touring the wonderful sights of Gozo - don't forget your snorkel for Dwejra and Xlendi!. The local bus service is superb, punctual and cheap. We also had a day trip to Valletta in Malta. It was a long day but worth it. You must visit Valletta! We did it by bus but you can hire a car. A couple of good changes this year - a flat screen TV and dishwasher. A very family friendly home and very much a home from home.

BalzanA true gem
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
It was an incredible experience. Tal-Kitarra may not be the largest farmhouse to be found in Gozo [although quite large sleeping 9-12 pax], however it is without any shadow of doubt the best kept farmhouse I have ever been to. No cost was spared to ensure that the experience is as close to home as possible. The finishing is exquisite. There actually is a dishwasher and washing machine. The entire farmhouse, pool included, is kept immaculately clean. There is a proper working TV, unlike other farmhouses I have been to. The farmhouse itself is roomy and comfortable, and certainly cannot be described as trying to advantage of little or no space, because the place is just perfect. The beds are comfortable, and the linen is clean. I can't remember a farmhouse in Gozo, other than Tal-Kitarra, that also provides clean towels.
As for the location, it neither enjoys seaviews, nor majestic views of Gozo. But more important is the seclusion and quiet that comes with it. The area isnt a trafficky, main thoroughfare, but still close to all amenities. Neighbours aren't noisy.
I hadn't relaxed so much in several months. There is nothing I can think of that was negative. It's a true gem. -

United KingdomWonderful accommodation in a beautiful village
Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012
The villa was absolutely spotless clean with lots of room and all the amenities that we needed for a stay with kids.
The pool was a good size and even though water was a bit cold due to the time of year that we visited the kids didn't want to come out of it.
Nice balconies/terrace to sit out on with the sun catching all day.
Kercem/Santa Lucia where villa located is really nice, quiet, with quick access to Victoria and a local shop only yards away.
Marvik's (the owner) mother who lives a few seconds walk away is always on hand for any help/advice and was always more than helpful.
Marvik and his mother Victoria went well beyond the requirements in relation to making sure that we felt comfortable and had everything that we needed to make our stay not just in the villa but on the island a wonderful stay.
This was the first time we visited Gozo, we will definitley be visiting again later on in the year and making use of Marvik's services!

188644Nice and spacious house but a bit dark and chilly in winter
Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in November 2011
The houses in Malta are clearly built to keep the heat out; so when we were there at the end of November it was a bit dark and chilly inside. The outside temperatures were about 20° C at noon, but in the evenings it got a lot colder. There was a little gas heater in the living room, which gave a lot of heat if you sat just next to it, but it was not strong enough to warm up the whole living room, let alone the whole house, which is huge and has an open staircase.
Nevertheless, the house is very nice and spacious, and it must be splendid in summer when you can actually use the large pool. We had originally booked the house next door, Ta'Nikola, from the same owner, but he offered an upgrade to Tal Kitarra as he was doing some refurbishing. As we were only 2, we only used the ground floor in fact.
The kitchen is large enough and adequately stocked with pots and tools for a self catering holiday, although if you are using the house at full capacity (about 9 people) you might probably run out of pots and pans that are large enough. Although we found that Gozo might not be the ideal location for a self catering holiday, especially not for foodies (like us). It's very hard to find nice produce, organic produce is non existing and there are hardly any local specialities.
The terrace is very nice with a large table under a shady pergola and with comfortable lounge chairs next to the swimming pool.
There are plenty of bathrooms in the house and they are well cleaned, but we think the plumbing needs an update. The water pressure and temperature is too low to have a really nice shower, and it's a pity that the shower heads and taps are a bit cheapish and somwhat worn. We understand that as an owner you have to save on something but a good shower can really add to the comfort of a holiday home. Same remark for the so-called jacuzzi. If you want to put in a jacuzzi, why not invest in a good one? The one installed is too small for two people and there is not enough hot water to fill it properly so we had to boil additional water on the stove. On top of that the lighting is horrible in that bathroom, an extremely white and bright low energy bulb, absolutely unromantic!
Despite these (minor) issues, we really liked the house and the service provided by the owner Marvik and Victoria, the lady that received us and showed us around. We had a little problem with the wifi, but it was immediatley solved after an intervention from Marvik's brother and after a really rainy and stormy day, Victoria came looking if everything was okay. Still, we would recommend to rent the house in summer as you would probably more appreciate its full potential in summer than in winter. -

Londonfantastic farmhouse with pool
Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This was our first visit to Gozo and the farmhouse was perfect for a relaxing stay, with the pool an added bonus when sunbathing on the patio. We hired bikes which meant we could get to virtually anywhere in Gozo within 30 minutes, and Victoria is walkable and has a number of decent restaurants and bars. Victoria, Antonio and Marvik keep the place in spotless condition and were always happy to help if we had any questions. We would definitely stay there again.

Left on 01/15/2011 for a stay in October 2010
We stayed here for a week in October. A family with two teenagers and a five year old.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, and available when needed. They provided us with some info on places to visit and services available. The whole family got their hair cut at the villa one afternoon through the owners.
The house was spacious and kitted out for most things. The pool was great. Maybe a fly zapper would have helped us as there was a seasonal influx of flies as the weather was turning stormy. As we stayed in most evenings it would have been nice to have had some board games and an English speaking TV channel. However, there were some nice Dvds available for us to watch in English. A few inflatables in the pool would also have been helpful.
The area was safe and lovely.A car is essential to fully enjoy the sights and for getting around. Most people speak good English. The local shops and restaurants were well priced. We even found soya milk, which we needed, easily available. Outwith the sites, one place that a family might like to visit is a really nice playpark next to the Ggantija Temples. On Malta itself our children really enjoyed the Playmobil Factory (book ahead for a tour for older ones) which also had a play area.
On the last day of the holiday the weather was forecast to be very stormy and the owners very kindly warned us and offered us accommodation through a friend on Malta, in case the ferry would not run and we would miss our flight home. Although the accommodation was more basic it was very welcome and this is the kind of example of the care the owners took of their guests, even meeting us to show us the way to the apartment.

Lovely comfortable villa, great for a group of mates or extended family. Nice steady 25min plod into the Square for dinner which was excellent as a meeting point for friends. Good location probably need a car if you have children or are not so able but we walked to two of the bays and really enjoyed it. Malvik and anna are great hosts. Already recommended to friends and would definitely return.

Left on 05/05/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We stayed at Tal-Kitarra Villa in order to have a family get together and a relaxing holiday all in one. The experience was brilliant from start to finish, from arriving at the airport, the owner, Marvik, had everything organised from transfers to a bottle of wine on arrival!!! He had even bought a new matress for my little girls cot gave us some board games and films for evening entertainment and we were even given a basket of fresh eggs from their own chickens. You dont get this kind of thoughtfulness in many places, honestly they could not do enough for us!
The villa was beautiful and the location perfect for us, Victoria is only a short walk but a taxi is 6 euros. When in Victoria you can get a bus to pretty much anywhere for 50 cents! We chose not to hire a car but if you want to do a lot of sight seeing or are not big on walking then this is probably a good idea... and Marvik will happily arrange this for you also!
The only negative I can think of is the pool was a little on the cold side, this would not be a problem later in the year though.
We all enjoyed a lovely holiday and will be back again next year! -

Left on 03/30/2010 for a stay in August 2009
In August 2009, a group of us stayed at Tal-Kitarra in Gozo. There were 4 adults and 4 children aged between 10 and 14. We fell in love wth the villa on our arrival. It was clean, spacious and well decortaed. It included all the amenities we required for our stay and we cooked in the villa several times. The bedrooms were cool, clean and open, and the children loved the seating area on the 1st floor. There were several bathrooms and we were particularly pleased that there was a shower room on the way out to the pool. It meant that we all got showered before and after using the pool without having to treck upstairs dripping wet to our own bathrooms.
The highlight of the villa was definitely the large pool which occupied our time for much of the day. The seating area outside in front of the pool was wonderful- we ate breakfast and supper there on several days, and it really made us feel like we were on holiday somewhere exotic.
The kitchen was well stocked and functional, and the breakfast table was our meeting point in the mornings. One or two evenings were spent in the lounge area where we watched dvd's and overall the villa provided us with an amazing holiday home.
We are really thankful to Marvik and his family for making our experience so memorable and comfortable. They were always on hand to help, and we felt well looked after. Communication with Marvik before and after our holiday was also easy and I feel that we will definitely stay at Tal-Kitarra again in the near future. -

Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in August 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tal-Kitarra Villa last summer. Marvik and his family provide a level of service and hospitality that is second to none. Tal-Kitarra is a beautiful property and has been maintained to an excellent standard both inside and out, complete with all the amenities that a family could wish for which made for a memorable holiday break. We will most certaintly be returning to the beautiful island of Gozo and look forward to staying at Tal-Kitarra or another of Marvik's farmhouses again.

London, UKSuch good service, I booked again.
Left on 03/19/2010 for a stay in March 2010
Being half Maltese, many of my friends expressed a wish to see the island. I had only ever stayed with family in Balzan so this was going to be a new experience. The final count was ten of us, so we decided to look at renting a villa to save money and be closer together. After weeks of searching, many of the villa operators were not getting back to me or getting back to me too late with nothing we wanted. Many villas on Malta looked under kept and overpriced. We had already booked flights and I worried that we would be stuck. Then I found Tal Kitarra and really liked the look of the place. I tried not to get excited and sent an email to Marvik Borg with our requirements.
Within two days I had a response, with a list of all the things that the company have to offer. The whole group were picked up at the airport at 1am! We were taken to the villa and welcomed warmly. Marvik had arranged for the fridge to be stocked up with wine and prosecco at cost price and a complementary hamper lay on the table.
The villa was extremely spacious and clean. The beds were firm and comfy. The pool was amazingly deep and there were enough chairs and sun beds (always a perk for my German boyfriend!).
Marvik also arranged to have two rental cars parked outside with the keys posted in the letterbox. We were well looked after, and had options to enjoy visits to places and massage therapies.
The best part was the quiet escape Gozo brought us. The island is less busy than Malta, with some fantastic restaurants and beaches. The prices are cheaper and we saved so much by staying there. In fact, I had such a great time that I am going back again this year with some more friends. This time trying out another of Marvik's villas, Ta Nikola.
I would really recommend Gozobreaks as a company. They are a small family business who makes you feel welcome. I felt so proud to show my friends part of my heritage and it would not have been so amazing without Marvik and his wife Anna!
