Located in the sleepy village of Umalas, within the district of Kerobokan, Surya Damai is nestled at the end of the road overlooking a small river and rice terraces. In the immediate vicinity there are only other villas and open countryside making this, on the whole, a very quiet area. A gentle 25-minute (or more energetic 15-minute) walk through the beautiful rice terraces and sleepy lanes will bring you to Batubelig beach.

I booked this villa thru elite havens Bali @ approx $800 per night for our extended family group of 12. We have stayed in many villas but this one far exceeded our expectations. Staff were so wonderful, cooking all meals, serving drinks and meals and basically waiting on our every need. Meals were delicious and cost for feeding our extended group was sooo very cheap. Menu to choose for meals, chef and assistant does all shopping, car and driver available for 8 hours per day (you just pay for fuel) they will even do a quick run to the shop for you if you have forgotten something or need something unexpectedly. Rooms spacious and well maintained, plenty of tvs and sitting areas with a beautiful dining pavilion for meals. Cannot fault the staff and villa, exceeded all our expectations. Loved the door bell in the main pavilion to summon staff when required, fantastic cappuccinos for brekky. Tennis court was a bit hit, and for those wishing to use a gym, canggu club use is complimentary and just a 10 minute walk thru the serene rice terraces, love love love this place. Great for that special holiday away with a large group. Spring rolls and drinks on arrival were delicious too. Would love to return for another special occasion. Seminyak was 5-10 minute drive away depending on traffic.

The Villa accommodated 5 families (13 people in all) with ages ranging from 3 to 70. The staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for you, were always happy and very discreet.
The accommodation at the Villa was wonderful, clean and well serviced, as were all the other amenities. The pool was wonderful, and with everything there we didn't need to go out if we didn't want to.
The food which was served up to us was amazing, all round we could have been in a 5 star hotel.
Seminyak was the nearest big shopping area which was about 20 minutes drive, but with a car and driver available all day that wasn't a problem.
Hoping to return in 2 years for our daughter's wedding. -

The initial booking process by Bali Villa Retreats who are based in Perth with a team in Bali were excellent, efficient and very professional, with fantastic customer service. They made it all so easy and organised everything, including baby equipment (strollers, monitors etc ..) and VIP access thru the airport also. Villa Surya Damai was a fantastic place to stay for my fathers 70th birthday celebrations. 5 separate, luxury bedrooms meant each family still had privacy, which was great for myself and my sisters family as we both have young children and still wanted to give Mum and Dad, and my other brother some peace and privacy too! Excellent staff and the location was very peaceful.

loved our stay here. 2 families with 2 children each (ages 9 months to 4) and an extra adult couple. all 10 of us were easily accommodated with space to spare. beautiful villas were of a very high standard and the staff were excellent. food was great.
we visited the canggu club a few times - a 10 min walk - it had a great pool for toddlers. the villa chef did a cooking class for us which was great, rather than spending $75 each and attending a half day one outside the villa.
few minor complaints:
no pool fence, which is pretty standard in bali i think, but our kids learnt to stay away pretty quick when unsupervised - is a worry though. pool also too deep for little kids, but they hung on the steps most of the time. no toys at all for kids, no dvds etc which is not what were told, but we just bought some and left them there. awesome pool for adults.
staff could have been a little more hands on, eg we sometimes had to track them down to get a drink, but likely if we had requested that they ask us more, they would have. some people would prefer to be left alone. we often just wandered in an helped ourselves.
location - traffic in bali is horrendous, so the villa is anywhere from 15 mins to 1 hour from seminyak shopping and restaurants. we hardly left the villa though. also there was always a driver and car available. just a hassle with babies.
besides those little things, it was perfect. definately 5 star.
