Cosy and relaxed week in a convenient location

Left on 05/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Cottage very comfortable, clean and well equipped. it was an ideal base for walking. The town centre was close enough to walk to and there were numerous restaurants and eating places.

We would definitely recommend this venue. We had a lovely week and the family enjoyed watching a selection of films in the evenings.

Peaceful and cosy, easy walk into Keswick

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We used this cottage for a 3 night break. Despite proximity to road, set well back and very quiet. Gas fired "log burner" kept us cosy. Clean and comfortable, ideal for 2, but would be a bit tight for 4 adults. Bunk beds in 2nd bedroom better for family. We parked the car(good parking) and then walked from cottage into keswick for the evening, and again from cottage to ashness Bridge and Rosthwaite and caught bus back to Keswick. Bp station almost opposite has Londis shop which stocks all essentials, Booths supermarket in Keswick good.
Weather not too good for our stay but patio area at back overlooks the river so should be good in the "summer".(a bit overlooked by adjacent cottages patios.

      Not good value.

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012

For the money paid bearing in mind the tine of year being dearer, the property was too small.

Also the bed linen was not good we had to chamge the Bunk beds around to use the better of the bed linen.

The three piece suite was in need of replacement.

      Overall very disappointing.

Response from Cottage Holiday Group - 03/03/2013

      Cottage Holiday Group

      Manager

Thank you for your recent review for this property.

The owner of this property has asked for the following response to be issued.

The three piece suite was due for replacement in August 2012, which was done, and a November inspection by Visit Britain confirmed the cottage's 3-star rating.
All bedlinen used in the property is Sanderson bedlinen; our dedicated housekeeper lives close by and would have addressed the issue if the guests had raised it during their stay.

We apologise for any inconvenience that may have detracted from your holiday.

We stayed in this cottage about 5 years ago, and forgot how great it was.
Lovely to be able to sit by the river and have breakfast.
10 minutes walk in to town to our favourite italian restaurant wich now has an italian style gelato/cafe too.

Lydia's cottage more than met our expectations

Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The cottage was clean, warm and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. It was too cold to sit outdoors, but had we been able to the back patio overlooking the river was perfect. The bed was comfy, constant hot water and plenty of cupboards, what more can we say?
We have given service 3 stars because we feel the managing agents could have been a little more helpful after I had foolishly left some jewellery behind.

      Temporarily cold

Left on 03/12/2012 for a stay in February 2012

The cottage was clean, tidy and well situated for the town. It also has a lovely view of the river. The only negative aspect of the stay was the fact the heating on the ground floor would not work on the first night, leaving us rather cold (the gas fire gives out little heat). A call to the office was not especially helpful as the only suggestion was to collect an electric heater (they couln't deliver as there was only one member of staff on duty, and we couldn't drive as we had enjoyed wine with our meal).
I have left this comment elsewhere but did not receive a reply.

perfectly met our needs. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Only comment would be it could do with a little modernisation - but that was of no great concern to us. We felt very at home.

Great for kids, Central to town, Ideal for our needs

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011

The house was immaculate. There were lots of tourist information leaflets, books & videos for the kids to watch indoors if needed. Everything we needed was in the kitchen in logical places!! Shop in garage just across the road. Within walking distance of the park & swimming pool. Just fab - will try & return next year ...
