      Superb stay in Keswick

Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Just back from a 5 day stay in Keswick. This is our fourth visit to Keswick in 3 years but the first time as dog owners. B&B;'s that we had previously stayed in didn't accept dogs so we tried to find somewhere we could use as a base that was modern and close to the centre of Keswick that would accept Oscar our 2 year old Golden Retriever.

Swinside was the perfect pace for us to stay. Well equipped with all the mod-cons and the most comfortable bed after a long day walking the fells. It was a 2 minute walk to the town centre and parking was not a problem. It was quiet at night-time and all the local residents were lovely.

We had a wonderful time and we are planning when we will be able to return again and look forward to Swinside being our holiday cottage each time we visit Keswick.

Lovely cottage in a convenient location

Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Booking through Lakes Cottage Holidays was efficient as always. We chose Swinside because it was available to book in advance for a short break and we were not disappointed. The cottage is clean and comfortable and is in a quiet, but convenient location. The walking maps were a nice touch.

Wonderful, well presented, quality pet friendly accomodation

Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I was amazed and very pleased with the high standard of the accomodation, especially when it's pet friendly- the photo's really are of the current condition of the accomodation. In the lounge the heavy duty lined curtains co-ordinate with, rug, cushions, roller blind. Wi-fi easily accessed. The kitchen is well equipped with white goods, cutlery and Denby crockery. Bedroom- king size bed with memory foam mattress, duvets, throws, new carpet with thick underlay, wall mounted tv. Bathroom- spotlessly clean -as was the whole property. No problem parking and neighbours very friendly. Needn't have worried about forgetting anything- the owners have everthing there-- from tape measure to note paper.

      Comfy base

Left on 09/17/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Good location - within easy walking distance to lake and the town centre. The house was clean, tasteful and well equipped. We slept very well. There is plenty to do nearby with or without a car. Having free wifi is a big selling point for us. We were a bit chilly at times but that's pobably why there are blankets and throws to snuggle into! For eating out there are plenty of pubs to choose from. Supermarkets are also easily accessible, as is the bus station. For quiet nights in or rainy days there are plenty of books, information, games, Dvds and freeview TV.

      A Lovely home from home

Left on 04/28/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We were very happy with Swinside. It was very tastefully decorated and had every modern amenity needed. It was quite modern but still had charm and was cosy.It was perfectly situated for access to everything Keswick has to offer. My only small gripe is that parking was occasionally difficult to find outside the cottage and the central heating was a little bit complicated and didn't really warm the house that much. The cottage is perfect for couples and we'd definitely stay there again.

Left on 04/13/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We had a lovely week at Swinside. Everything there we could possibly need. Appreciated the maps, torches, books, dishwasher, plenty of cutlery and crockery, nice big mugs, very comfortable kingsize bed. Great to have WiFi. Parking wasn't always easy, but we managed. Friendly neighbours. No garden or space to sit outside, but an ideal location for walking to the Lake or town (where there are plenty of benches to sit on). Spar shop very near, open long hours. Lots of lovely walks from house or from short drives away. Plenty of space for the 2 of us.
We would recommend Swinside to other couples (probably not families), who wanted a good base for exploring Keswick and the Lakes.

Quaint & contemporary. They can co-exist.

Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011

From the pictures this cottage looked well finished and yes, contemporary. But on arrival it became immediately clear there was more. Firstly it seems bigger but more importantly they have managed to preserve the original cottage feel. A welcoming fire awaited us on our late arrival helping us feel on holiday proper after a wet and windy journey. The cottage is in the heart of the town but away from any busy roads. Perfect access to the hills or shops depending on the weather and your legs.

We'll be back again. Lets hope it stops raining by then!

We spend most of our time out on the fells and need a well equipped and comfortable place to stay with our dog. Swinside ticked the boxes. Having the wi-fi to check the Mwis was a bonus.

      Great value

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011

I visited for a photography trip and brought my dog I found Swinside to be a well thought out accommodation and pet friendly, easy to keep clean, but small so if you have a lot gear, backpacks, boots etc you need to be tidy. It's a short walk to the centre of town and Lake Derwent, which I loved. The weather during my stay was cold and wet and I had some things that couldn't be dried in the tumble dryer which were still damp the next day because the heating was a bit low. Dogs are not allowed upstairs but the stairs are open plan off the lounge so the only way of definitely keeping the dog downstairs was to lock him in the kitchen. A baby gate would be a small adjustment they could make.
Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, there is a dishwasher and a huge stack of plates, but I still only used one cup, bowl, tea plate and dinner plate all week!
The decoration and furniture was of a very high standard for holiday accommodation. For a trip where you are going to be out all day it's the perfect place to return to at night and recharge your batteries and excellent value for money.

A newly modernised, compact, clean central property

Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Fantastic clean newly modernised property. This centrally located property is a fantastic base for all of whats on offer in and around Keswick. The property has just been newly refurbished to a very high standard. It is very clean and has everything you need for your stay. It is compact and I would reccommend it for couples.
The only downside is the lack of outside space. It would have been good to have been able to sit outside with a glass of wine after days out. But with it being so close to the town centre there were plenty of bars restaurants available for this.
There is also the problem of parking as there is no designated parking space for the property.
Overall a good newly modernised, compact clean central property.
