This was the first time that we had ever booked a cottage in the lake district. The web site was easy to use and had plenty of choice but we kept coming back to Swallows Barn, and wow we were not dissapointed. we opened the door and all of us just stood and looked around absolutely amazed at the quality of the barn. Everything that you needed was there, a very high standard of cottage beautifly decorated. All of us commented how comfortable the beds were, it really was a wonderful cottage and would definately like to stay there again. We cannot praise this property enough we loved it. Read more

The accommodation was very good, looked like we could have been early visors, being described as near Keswick we found to be misleading it is some 12+ miles out of Keswick, so this adds at least 20 minutes each way to every day trips.
Whilst the standard of the accommodation was very good a few interesting points, none of the bathrooms or toilets had locks on the doors, so singing was required whilst in use! could do with more crockery etc, as there is a dishwasher, but with 4 people you would pretty quickly run out.
Good sized property, well fitted out, with the nearest pub abou

The barn was more than adequately fitted out for two couples. It was very plesantly decorated and seemed very new.
One bedroom had an en-suite and the other had a bathroom next dooor. Beds were comfortable.
The barn is located just off the main street of Torpenhow which unfortunately does not have a shop. There nearest pub was just over a mile away. However it was an easy drive to Keswick ( about 8 miles )and we were able to visit all of the lakes in a week

The cottage was very comfortable & everything we needed was provided. I would suggest putting a mirror in the bedroom & the only problem we had was that we couldn't open the back door to get out into the garden. It was a pity there weren't any nice views from the cottage, & I presume there will be more work going on next to it. We did, however, thoroughly enjoy our weekend (weather was exceptional) & would go back again/reccommend it to friends/family.
