What a wonderful house, with amazing scenery from every window

Left on 09/08/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We booked this accommodation for a family group aging from 88 to a baby of 7 months and I can honestly say that it catered for us all. Firstly alison the owner was so helpful with our requirements and answered all my e mails promptly and efficiently. The house is simply beautiful and definitely 5 star accommodation. There is a room downstairs which has its own bathroom so if you have someone who cannot do stairs then they are fine. All the rooms were clean and well presented. The kitchen had simply everything so no worries there. We enjoyed wonderful family dinners together at the big kitchen table with wonderful views. It is quite high up and the drive to the house I would recommend doing in the day light as the roads are quite narrow, but we had a 17 seater mini bus and managed it although it was a tight squeeze when another car came along in the other direction. Alison provided tea, biscuits and milk for our arrival which was wonderful so we could have a cup of tea as soon as we arrived. Tesco delivered our shopping as soon as we arrived so we were set to go. A lovely warm cottage, beautifully decorated and with a lovely glass conservatory at the side which was lovely to sit in and look our of. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

      Comfort in the countryside!

Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Eight of us stayed in this spacious property and used it as a very comfortable base for walking and exploring the area. We love The Lakes and the view from the kitchen door at Bawd Hall is beautiful. With 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms it was easy to cover the various needs of friends and family. The local road is quiet and once you get used to the single track with passing places you can quite quickly get to Keswick and other areas. Big tip: order your groceries and provisions online via asda or Tesco (we used the former) and book the delivery to arrive not long after your arrival (which is 4pm Friday if you are staying a full week). It takes all the initial rush out of your settling in. Our hosts were very helpful and answered my questions by email prior to our visit. Bawd Hall has WiFi so holiday pictures were quickly shared via Facebook!

Beautiful unique place, one to revisit over and over again.

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This was our second visit to Bawd Hall and once again we had excellent service. The house is in very good condition and always very clean and welcoming when we arrive. The house in general, and in particular the kitchen, is very well stocked so you can stay comfortably, it makes it feel like a home from home.
The location is unique - stunning views from all the rooms in the house across the Newlands valley - you can sit for hours and gaze at the landscape, it is very relaxing. Three of the bedrooms are very large and with ten people the house doesn't feel crowded at all. We will be back time and time again!

A relaxing week in a beautiful location, couldn't ask for more!

Left on 02/14/2012 for a stay in August 2010

We've been visiting the Lake District for over twenty years, and Bawd Hall is now our favourite place to stay. The property has the feel of luxury accommodation throughout, from the cosy beds to the well-appointed kitchen, to the fantastic panoramic views of the local fells. It's also ideally placed for walking and close enough to Keswick to enjoy the convenience of the shops and pubs.

Upon our arrival, there was a well thought out set of goodies waiting for us, including cakes, biscuits, and fresh milk - everything we needed to make a much needed cup of tea after our journey.

Even with the British weather doing its best to ruin our holiday with some heavy rain, we still found plenty to do in the area - and even staying in the house doing jigsaw puzzles with the children made for a pleasant rainy day afternoon.

We will definitely return soon, and can't wait to stay in our home away from home again!

Luxury accommodation in a stunning setting !

Left on 02/12/2012 for a stay in October 2011

Whether you are the active type looking to enjoy the rugged beauty of the Lake District without sacrificing the comforts of a well-appointed and welcoming base, or if you are content to just relax in luxurious surroundings and enjoy the magnificent views afforded by the stunning Newlands Valley setting, Bawd Hall comes highly recommended.

Bawd Hall easily lives up to its grand name without being in the least bit intimidating. It is, in fact, a warm and welcoming place which offers impressive views from every room. We spent many happy hours relaxing in the spacious lounge, or enjoying meals around the large dining table in the cosy kitchen/dining area, or lingering over breakfast in the garden room from where we glimpsed owls, woodpeckers and buzzards. They even provided binoculars so we could look out over the valley ! The terraced garden is a lovely setting for a barbecue, too, if weather permits.

If you can manage to drag yourself away from all this luxury, Bawd Hall's location between Keswick and Buttermere means that you're never far from a beautiful Lakeland scene, or a fine day's walking.

You can easily stock up the fridge and freezer in nearby Keswick, or enjoy eating out at the many nearby pubs and restaurants. Real ale lovers will enjoy sampling beers from a number of local breweries too !
I've tried hard, for the sake of balance, to find something to criticise about Bawd Hall. But I can't! It really is everything you could ask for and, much as I would love to keep it a secret, I heartily recommend it.
