      Amazing condo

Left on 02/20/2013 for a stay in February 2013

My husband and I just returned from a great vacatioon to Key Largo. The condo was beyond our expectations. It was clean and spacious and had everything you would need. It was like vacationing at your own home except it was 80 degrees in Key Largo and our home was at 4 degrees. Jose and his wife were great to deal with and we would recommend renting from them.

Great Place for a Family Get-away

Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012

What a wonderful stay we had this past week (December 30, 2012 -January 6, 2013) at Jose and Estella's Condo at Kawama Yacht Club in Key Largo! The condo was so spacious, and extremely clean, which we very much appreciated! Jose and Estella were so very kind and helpful in getting us organized on the front end with all my questions, and then giving us suggestions for what to do when we arrived. I really have to say how very nice these folks are: I truly felt they hoped our stay at their place would be a wonderful experience, and they did all kinds of things to help make that happen.

I highly recommend this property as an excellent place for families. We enjoyed the tennis courts, the ocean, the pool, and all the other local activities. So much to do - and then the wonderful home to come back to to unwind and enjoy. Thank you Jose and Estella!

      Lovely condo and nice owners

Left on 11/16/2012 for a stay in November 2012

What a lovely condo to stay in and such nice owners(Jose & Estella)! Estella met us to show us around and was just so friendly, going out of her way to help us by buying seafood shell crackers. My husband and I stayed
in the condo to see the beautiful sunsets every night and then went out to dinner - what perfect evenings! The easy access to so much to do - John Pennecamp State Park, shopping, Harry Harris Park, Snook's Restaurant, Bayside Grill, etc.- makes the condo a great location. Everything was just lovely, the bed, pillows, and couch very comfortable and the kitchen had so many amenities.
My husband and I would recommend this place to everyone :)

Fantastic holiday rental pity about the weather

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a great 5 night stay in this lovely appartment. This is a very clean and well equipped holiday rental. Feels like a home away from home. Fantastic view from the balcony even when it was raining. Good facitilies on site and a great location for exploring the upper keys. The owners provide losts of local informations and check in regularly to make sure everything is going well. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Tower #503: Great Experience From Beginning to End!

Left on 10/24/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This was our second trip to Key Largo and the first family reunion there. Since we were planning a week-long stay, we wanted to be a little more self-contained with all the amenities and so we decided to find a condo. Our search lead us to Kawama and more particularly to Jose and Estela's Tower #503 condo.

The reservation process was very easy. Jose was very friendly and he was quick in responding to any and all questions we had.

As our vacation week approached, Jose provided us with all the directions we needed to find Kawama, including a hand-drawn map and instructions where to find the keys. Upon arrival at the guard station, we were struck by the beautiful palm trees and the general cleanliness of the area. We were greeted by a friendly security guard who was expecting us and we moved into the beautiful condo.

Without going into much detail, the condo was very clean, beautifully decorated and the kitchen and wash room provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The view looking over the marina and the sunsets (for 2 days, at least...more on this later)were wonderful.

Now, about the weather. We arrived to a storm that dumped constant rain on us for nearly 5 days straight...a total of 15 inches of rain. So our plans to rent a boat and dive/snorkel for the week had to be altered. However, the salt water lagoon at Kawama saved the day. We spent at least 3 days in the lagoon snorkeling (and scuba one day)amongst the creatures including lobster, tarpon, angel fish, parrot fish, grunts and porgies. In fact, swimming in the lagoon allowed us to get all our equipment ready for our last two days which we spent out on the reef!

We hated to leave, but even that was pleasant, as Estela came by to send us off with well wishes and check with our deposit. I was really impressed with that!
Stay at Kawama and more particularly, stay here at Tower #503. Jose and Estela are wonderful people and they have great neighbors (Ralphie) who are there to help you.

Come for the Location, Return for the Owners’ Hospitality!

Left on 10/06/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We chose Kawama Yacht Club (KYC) because of all the features available in the complex but we want to return because in addition to the great location, Jose & Estela, the owners, genuinely care that their guests have a good time during their stay. You can't find a better value for the price either.

The unit had everything we needed so we could pack lighter. Because each bedroom had a bathroom attached, it was like having two separate mini-suites for privacy purposes. My mother was able to use her walker in the unit & there were 2 elevators available. Each morning we spent on the balcony with coffee enjoying the view overlooking the marina, ocean and wildlife preserve. It felt like we had the entire complex to ourselves.

The complex has nearly every imaginable amenity - ocean, beach, pools, marina, tennis courts, fishing pier, snorkeling in the lagoon, playscape for kids. The shady lagoon was an especially beautiful place to stroll around. Gorgeous, big parrot fish came up to the dock to feed and we even found a tarpon while snorkeling.

There are no restaurants or bars on the property but there were plenty within a short driving distance. If you enjoy cooking your own seafood without having to catch it, Key Largo Fisheries is a fresh seafood market three blocks from the entrance to KYC. All the local restaurants get their fish from the fishermen's catches that come in here each morning. Pennekamp State Park, Dolphins Plus, Theatre of the Sea, dive boat operators and other attractions are all within close driving distance. Key West made an excellent day trip.

Whether you use KYC as a home base for seeing the rest of The Keys or decide to stay on the property your entire stay, you will be pleased you chose to stay with the Penabads!

We had a wonderful trip. Estella made us very comfortable with colorful stories of her experiences and recommendations. We could have been herded into expensive trips, but enjoyed the grounds so much we barely left. Jose made us feel at home, and we are grateful to both of them for sharing their home with us. Thank you!

Beautiful view of the atlantic and an overall great location

Left on 06/27/2011 for a stay in November 2010

We were met by the owner on our arrival at the condo. He was very relaxed, showed us around and made us feel very welcome. The building is in clean, well maintained condition as were the grounds. This condo looks out to the marina and along the jetty with great views of the atlantic ocean. The sun shone on the balcony virtually all day and the pool is just below the balcony, steps away from the condo. The pool was clean and well maintained.

There are nice walking paths on the grounds. An inland salt water lake holds colourful tropical fish. Security into and out of the grounds is quite tight. Walking around the streets outside of the property was equally nice - some beautiful propoerties!! The area has many nice restaurants within close driving distance. We drove to Key West - about a 2 hour drive, stopping at the Turtle hospital (near Marathon) on the way. Both were well worth it

We were there to dive and there are plenty of good dive shops very close by. The reefs are in awesome condition and the diving was really great. We also dove off the beach right on the property and along the north side of the jetty and saw a fabulous assortment of life, including nurse sharks, lobsters, rays and large schools of fish, even though we were never deeper than 12 feet.

What was not so good: within the condo the bathrooms and mattresses on the beds could use an upgrade. Security at the gate occasionally leaves to do their rounds and you can sit for 15 minutes waiting to get in if your timing is off. The beach is very small and completely littered with leaves etc.. I would not call it usable by young families or safe for bare feet. Shopping in the area is limited.

The owners are most cordial and responsive. We had a minor problem with the dishwasher. Owner tired to fix it the next morning and put in a new one the same afternoon before we returned from a dive trip! The second best thing is the value, we get a spacious 2-bedroom/2-bath condo with water view for the price of a hotel room.

Left on 05/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We stayed at Unit 503 in Kawama Tower from 19 april to 2nd May 2011. Jose unfortunately, was on vacation too but had left us in the capable hands of Sabrina who met us at the condo. Communication before the holiday had been excellent and the condo did not fail to exceed expectations. It is spacious, clean, fully equipped and in a truly wonderful location. Quiet and relaxing but close enough to shops and restaurants ,some restaurants in walking distance.Everything you need for a holiday abroad in a home from home was provided. Lots of information at the condo with regards to local attractions and places of beauty and interest. We snorkelled twice and went fishing which was the first time for us. We also visited the Coopertown airboat ride in the Everglades to see hundreds of alligators..Mrs Macs Kitchen was our favourite restaurant with the Pilot House restaurant within easy walking distance We holidayed with our two boys aged 13 and 9 and we all had a fabulous, memorable holiday. We rarely visit the same destination twice but would definately consider it on this occasion. Thank you Jose for sharing your beautiful home with us. Next time we hope to meet you in person!!

We are Miami Dolphins season ticket holders from Washington, DC and since we were staying for 10 days, we decided to venture out of the city. This is a beautifully quiet area, very nice amenities and the Penabads are wonderful hosts. I'm sure we will stay again when we opt for longer stays. Definitely recommend. Snorkeling, parasailing, Jimmy Johnson's restaurant all very convenient.

      Best condo - best vacations

Left on 05/28/2010 for a stay in April 2010

We stay in Penabad’s unit april 26 – May 7. It was our 3rd stay in Unit 503 at Kawama Yacht Club. Since 3 years we spend there 2-3 weeks every year when we are in Key Largo with our disabled child. Unit 503 is very good place to stay. Kawama Tower is very calm and quiet place. The unit is on the top floor (there is an elevator of course). Condo is very comfortable (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and full equipment kitchen, balcony and laundry). Unit is extremely clean, very well equipped, very well furnished with all you need for your vacation and it has a beautiful view of ocean, marina and sunset. We feel there like at our home.
We enjoyed all amenities and swimming pool area, Kawama Beach with Tiki and of course child’s playground.
There are a lot of attractions, shops and restaurants just a few minutes away from Kawama Yacht Club.
Jose and Estela (the owners) they are very special people, so friendly and helpful. They greeted us so warmly and made us feel very special indeed!
We would highly recommend this condo to anyone. We will definitely come back again if we can.
Jose and Estela we want say thank you so much! for your help this year.

      Great Vacation Spot!

Left on 04/15/2010 for a stay in April 2010

We stayed in this condo for 3 days on Easter weekend 2010 and had a fantastic experience. It is spacious, very well maintained and comfortable, and has a great view from the balcony of the ocean. The unit faces west so you can also see key sunsets without leaving hom. There are two bedrooms and two full baths and they were well equipped and very quiet.

It is steps away to a pool that is only for the use of the "tower" occupants, and another 100 yards or so to the waterfront. There is also a protected swimming lagoon on the property. Tennis courts are also directly to the right of the tower.

The owners were very welcoming and gracious and ensured that the unit was clean and in good shape for visitors.

Lots of restaurants and shopping are an easy drive away, as is the Pennekamp state park.

      Would come back again happily.

My family and I stayed in Kawama in the tower unit 503 and had an absloute awesome time. Everything we needed was there. It was a beautifully furnished 2/2 condo with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facility and spacious living/dining room. The view from the balcony was great and relaxing. We were able to easily get our jetskis in and out of the water with the on site marina. There was even a beach area we could use when we just wanted to sit and relax. There were many restaurants, grocery/shopping, and specialty stores close by for any items we wanted to buy. I would definitely recommend to others and would love to rent there again!
