Bring your own boat and dock it outside the door!
Located in a quite neighbor hood on the Bayside. Just minutes to many restaurants by boat and a 30 min. ride to the ocean for diving and fishing!
We have two separate bedrooms and one bathroom.

We booked this stay on short notice and were very pleased with it. Staying in the keys is not cheap, especially after everything is booked up. So we took a chance with this and were happy. The short stay was within our budget. Sitting on the deck area watching the manatees and flying fish was just so relaxing. I wish we had more time. We got to use the provided kayaks, which saved us money from having to rent them elsewhere and it was again, a very relaxing afternoon activity. The temps were not too hot, so having the windows open in the apartment was just fine. Wifi access was great for uploading vacation pix. Great to have a little kitchen, dishes, towels and wash cloths to use. Sure, the carpet in the living room could be replaced and I'd love a tub instead of just a shower, but we'd certainly stay here again. So close to Pennekamp for glass bottom boat tour or snorkeling and amenities like the grocery store and restaurants. Very quiet. Two thumbs up for the budget traveler.

My son and I were recently in Key Largo for 6 nights and stayed in this snug 2 bedroom. It isn't huge, but was everything we needed. It was only a few miles from our dive shop and the docks, was close to food shopping, great restaurants and even a doctor's office. The apartment had ample cooking equipment to make modest meals, was clean and well-stocked with beach towels. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and a great place to be in the evening uploading photos.
The best part of the stay was the access to the water. We spent hours sitting on the dock reading, watching manatees play as the sun set or rose. We were able to use the kayaks and spent hours just paddling around while the manatees did circles around us. Just wonderful, it really made the trip for us. -

I debated whether to write a review because the owners Jana and Jack are very nice people but they should not be in the business of renting out this apt without some major renovations and legal documents showing certificate of their business.
The little extras such as starter kit for kitchen and bathroom, ample towels and bedding and decor did not go unnoticed but not enough to not let anyone else know that there are major problems to those who expect better.
Sorry, but with the money you are collecting on this unit you should do some improvements.
Even though we personally stopped last year to see this place it is only after seeing up close and living here for 2 weeks that one needs to point out the areas of renovations and just daily upkeep needed.
Pros: location- open to Buttonwood Bay, view of wildlife, manatees, flying fish, kayaking available also usage with annual fee paid of boat launch.
Within walking/biking distance to Publix, outdoor market, Walgreens, Starbucks etc.
Quiet neighborhood ( Lake Shore Dr.) ample parking and usage of bikes, hose for boat or jetski, storage area, pet friendly.
Available usage of pool ( see cons) washer and dryer, tiki , grill, dock, kayaks
2 fire extinguishers.
Cons: No smoke detectors anywhere, extension cords everywhere with large number of appliances connected, had loss of power 2-3 times a day, breaker box is in another renter's space (luckily she was home to hit the breakers) on several days.
sporadic wi-fi- apt is basically surrounded by concrete walls on almost all sides, poor phone reception too unless you are by the window or outside.
dog poo and pee wherever their 2 dogs were let out, by dock, stairway, walkway. Only saw it cleaned when mother in law visited.
As you are watching tv you will be interrupted by their choice of recordings . ( something about the at & T sign up)
Dirty carpet, old furniture ( loose legs on sofa and dining room chairs) were unsafe especially for our pets that like to sleep under the sofa.
Plates are out on the open in a bakers rack so they will get dusty and will be needed to be washed daily.
Poor space for any groceries , refrigerator is tiny and I put staples on the shelving since there were ants and roaches under the sink ( we put sticky paper to catch them)
Filthy cooking area as I had to move the stove and found it quite gross also in tiki bar, sink had unwashed utensils and food left , refrigerator offered to use since ours was tiny was also dirty and unusable with the freezer full of ice and needs defrosting ( see photos) deck furniture and pool was filled with leaves and green on the bottom ( do not offer to guests unless you plan to clean all of it ) as I had asked if we could use it and was told yes.
I put sticky glue papers under the sink as I found a roach or two.
In reply to first poster there is no cleaning service as was stated. Jana does all the cleaning herself and she even made apologies for renting out the unit as the floor is old - broken tiles and carpeting has many stains and looks like it has never been shampooed.
Photos advertised are not updated. The outdoor deck area where you see a table is actually now the 2nd bedroom with an air conditioner above the bed and the sliding glass door butts up to the balcony over the pool.
I have many more photos to share.
Needs a new lock to the apt. door as it will take you at least a minute to open the door.
Satisfactory to the budget traveler -do not expect much in comfort or cleanliness. ( old squeaky bed, small shower, kitchen area
When we told Jack about the outtages we were asked "well are you running several appliances at once" meaning.. the aC, mini frig and microwave all from one extension cord. ( not my fault)
Like I said owners are very nice people but too busy to maintain and improve this apartment for public usage in my opinion. -

I am sad to be writing this bad review, because with all my travels I have never had to experience this. The photos shown here are misleading. When we arrived at the place, the pool was green, the owner, Jack, did admit that this was his fault. Needless to say my 5 year old was so disappointed to not be able to swim. Secondly the deck and furniture and tikki bar were dirty and in bad condition. The owner did admit, later, that his cleaning service went on vacation so could not clean the place. The air conditioner inside in the living area, was noisy and did not blow cold air. The other AC in the bedroom was wired to the plug point in the bathroom, so there were wires running across the rooms. There was another AC, that we tried to hook up, and it tripped the electricity. The circuit box was in the neighbor renter's room who was not in, this we found out after I called Jack a few times. We were out of electricity and AC for few hours. Finally I begged Jack to find his neighbor renter and ask her to come back. When she finally did, she fixed the circuit box, it was getting dark by then, so when I tried to switch on a few lamps, atleast 3 of them had bad bulbs which the neighbor renter changed for us. The bathroom had water stains. The kitchen utensils were dusty and sticky, atleast the plates we used. The appliances were old but working.
We slept terribly that night, and decided to immediately leave the place early morning.
When we asked for a refund, Jack offered less than half back, because he said we trashed the place. After our food in the fridge went almost bad because we had no electricity, we had to trash a lot of that, in the TRASH CAN, where else would we trash it? We did not make the beds fully, because we didn't think it was our duty to do that. We have never been accused of trashing any place, we have rented. We are professionals and travel much.
All in all we did not get any refund from Jack. It was a horrible experience, $400 down the drain for us.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Especially if you have small children. Infact this place needs to be inspected as there are hazzards all around it. See pics below.
If you are wondering what took me this long to post a review, it is because we were fighting this case through PayPal, but we found out after we disagreed on Jack's less than half offer of refund, that PayPal does not protect buyers from services, only products. This was a very unusual situation where we had an unusual amount of thunderstorms and muggy weather. The power surges of the electrical power caused some circuit breaker problems. As soon as I was alerted to the problem, my maint man was there in less than an hour to fix it.
The pool was gathering Algae off the roof, because of the 3 days of solid rain prior to their arrival. All problems were attended to within one hour of a phone call.
Without letting me know, they left abruptly the next morning and left the worse mess i have seen in years doing this. They were not aware of how life in the Keys works and what the atmosphere would be. I have never had a complaint in 4 years of renting this apartment. -

Even though the weather was less then perfect the home was in the perfect location and owner was more then nice. We enjoyed staying here and if we ever go back again would love to rent from them.
