This is a great one bedroom efficiency...everything is new and clean. Just one block over from Duval with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The folks at Key West Vacation Rentals (vacationrentalskeywest.com) were awesome to deal with...super friendly and helpful.

Left on 06/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Nice little rental with two rooms. We stayed there May 14 thru May 17, 2012. The main bedroom with a queen bed, tv and two chairs, and a kitchen with stove, ref., microwave, coffeemaker, pots and pans and utensils. We went out each morning to the Circle K and picked up coffee and fruit and brought them back and sat on the porch and had breakfast. It had a window air conditioner that was rather loud and when we sat outside on the porch it would blow hot air so we turned it off while we sat there. Over all the stay was nice and would return again.

We stayed here four nights and were extremely pleased with the location. We walked everywhere! There were some drawbacks to the unit--small bathroom, large fridge but otherwise small kitchen, not-great mattress, parking not readily available. However, we did fine. Found parking right out front for the last 3 days.

My husband and I love Key West. We have been so many times that we move around the island like a local. The people in key west are wonderful. My husband and I have always had the pleasure of working with Craig from Key West Vacation Rentals and he is a true gem. Their units are clean, quiet and close to everything.

My stay in the Monroe efficiency was wonderful! The unit was clean and spacious! I was pleasantly surprised by the FULL KITCHEN, as well as the front porch feature. I will request this unit for my Key West stays from now on! Thanks for the memories...Oh the check in was quick and very friendly too! :-)

The room is only a block from Duval street and was newly remodeled it seemed. New tile and paint. A quaint place to get away without being far from all the excitement.

I rented a very nice yellow cottage for a week with my large dog. We had a great time. Came with kitchen and dining area. Nice and quiet there. Safe parking and the town action was just a block away. You could walk to most stores and restaurants. I broke the coffee pot and they replaced it within 4 hours. If I return I would certainly stay there.

Left on 07/03/2009 for a stay in March 2007

Very cute little place, had a kitchen, bathroom, and
room with a queen size bed. The only down fall is
there is no where to park but that is common. The
house is gated and you need a key to get in there so
you feel extra safe. -

We stayed in the Monroe Efficiency right after getting laid off. It was the perfect quiet getaway to help us start decompressing. The room, grounds and private pool were all well-maintained. Enjoyed the lazy afternoons in the private pool. The kitchen had everything we needed and was so cute!!! Enjoyed our little porch too.

My family and I have been staying at Center Court cottages for years (we've never stayed anywhere else!) so it was my natural choice when I surprised my boyfriend with a Key West vacation. The unit was much smaller than the family-sized ones I was used to, but that was perfect. All we needed was a comfortable bed and a bathroom...but as a bonus we got a cute little kitchen as well that was very helpful for the three days that we stayed. You simply cannot find a nice place like this, in the center of all the action, for any cheaper. We stayed behind a small gated area with other rentals surrounding us, which gave us a charming and secluded area to relax and enjoy our own small front porch. We even met our neighbors, fellow vacationers from the next room over, and hung out with their dog (since the rooms are pet friendly). We had an unbelievable time, and no doubt part of that was because we were so centrally located and well-cared for at the Monroe house!

Rancho Palos VerdesNice Key West Cottage
Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in May 2009
At first, we were a bit nervous about the Key West Vacation Rentals - not knowing what to expect; especially, all we knew of the place were the pictures off the website that were just so-so.
Either way, we were going to make the best of the situation regardless.
The late check-in was really easy. Although, the map they gave us, that indicated which room we had, was highlighed incorrectly. We found this out when we tried the key and it wouldn't open the door. A few minutes later, some guy answered and said, may I help you? Ooops... wrong room - sorry! We then noticed the room number was marked on the key and proceeded to that room.
When we went in, the room was nice - it was nicer than we thought. It was like our little Key West Cottage: nice size bed, fully equipted kitchen and bathroom. We had a realy nice stay.
Monroe Efficiency is 1 block away from Duvall Street, which is where all the action is - being close to Duvall is a huge plus!
I highly recommend staying here. My husband and I plan on returning to Key West within the next 4 years, and we will be staying at the Monroe Efficiency; not-to-mention, the price is right.
Happy Traveling.

THE STAFF WERE THERE IF YOU NEEDED THEM BUT LEFT YOU ALONE TO ENJOY YOUR STAY
WE DID COME DOWN WITH 2 DOGS AS DID OTHER FOLKS AND THEY WERE ALL WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS
WE WERE A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT THE LACK OF PARKING BUT THAT PROVED TO BE OF VERY LITTLE CONCERN
THE AMENITIES WERE WELL KEPT AND A RELAXING WAY TO SPEND SOME DOWN TIME
THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL IS THAT WE WERE ONLY ONE BLOCK OFF OF DUVAL STEET IN THE HEART OF KEY WEST

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Monroe Efficiency. The check in was
smooth, no problems at all. Street parking but we parked our car when we got
there and didn't move it until the day we left. We made a stop at the grocery
store on our way into town and the kitchen had everything we needed to make
breakfast and lunch. We rented bikes just down the street and everything was
very close and convenient. Even though there are other efficiencies attached,
we didn't even know anyone else was there. An easy stroll to Duval Street. Was
a very memorable vacation. Thanks for the great place. -

It was all tile and very clean. Nice little place. Parking can be a bit tricky to find but if there isn't any right out front, you can usually find some in the alley across the street. We even had our dogs with us and it worked very well for them too. You don't have the musky smell of some places with all the humidity and pets because of the tile. It was very nice and I would stay there again.

The Monroe Efficiency was a cute little place, we would come and stay there again. We only had one problem we were kind of unhappy about and that was the door. The door needs to be fixed or replaced.
You could see light coming through on all sides so we are sure anyone could of broken into the room very easy if they wanted too.
Other then that the room was clean we liked having a little kitchen to do a little cooking in and they were great for our first time in Key West. -

mobile, alThe best place to stay on the island!
Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in May 2008
Year after year we vacation in Key West and year after year we chose this location. We've stayed in various rooms at this location and every one has been excellent. The location of this place is right where you need to be - in walking distance of Duval, great restaurants, scooter rentals, the beach but at the same time it's very serene and quiet. If you prefer to be in the middle of the noisy action, you might consider staying on Duval street.
The room itself is well appointed and has all the necessary things for a great stay: full size fridge, microwave, shower, TV, great pools, and a lovely patio. It's very clean.
The staff can really be finicky. One year we went and they were awfully rude because we were sitting out in the front of the place on the street waiting for our room keeper to finish cleaning up from the previous person. We had no where else to go as we had just drove in with our truck loaded up. The sitting out wasn't the problem but the maid felt pressured and she complained. Every other time they have been wonderful and more than happy to accommodate whatever you need. Very helpful and friendly every other time.
But the best thing about this place is they take dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, dogs, dogs, dogs. I need a place that will take my dog and understands that it may bark and it may act up (as it did on this trip when my dog tried to eat through the door of the room!) and this place is it. Of course that means that other rooms might have dogs too - if you're not a dog person you need not stay here. Every time I've been there were multiple dogs enjoying their vacation here and none caused any trouble and were very quiet.
Bottom line is this: If you want to go and enjoy a nice time in a home-like atmosphere instead of a hotel room you need to be here. I'll never stay anywhere else. -

Ottawa, OntarioOK place!
Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in January 2007
This is a good spot for a small family or a couple to stay in Key West. It's quiet, off the main drag, has nice patio areas shaded by palms, has every facility you need inside, such as a small but complete enough kitchen, microwave, good bathroom, etc. There is no place to eat, however, unless you step outside onto the deck. The bathroom in the unit I rented had only a stand-up shower with no tub, which could be problematic for some people, but was fine with me.
There is a pool available to the units, which is around the corner. It was a nicely furnished pool area, very clean, and I was alone every time I visited it. It was very relaxing.
My unit was air-conditioned, so sleeping in that humid temp. was no problem. Even in January it can be quite uncomfortable outside when you're in the sun sometimes.
Everything was very clean and there were no bug infestations, which I had sort of expected ... the weather is so humid and warm. It must be tough to keep bugs out!
The units are within easy walking distance of all the Key West attractions such as the harbour, Dugal Street, the bars and restaurants. It is even within walking distance of a public beach.
I prefer to heat up most meals from pre-made purchased casseroles, rather than eat out most of the time (the cost!!!!), and grocery stores were also within walking distance. I could make coffee, toast, and anything else I wanted for breakfast, and could keep cold meat, cheese, salad makings etc. in the fridge for easy and cheap fast lunches.
All in all, the cost of the unit I rented for two weeks was well worth it. It is not fancy, and is not meant to be. But it was completely clean and serviceable. I had a family emergency at home, and was on a day trip away that day. The staff were good enough to come by and leave a note on my door. They were polite, helpful, and nice people.
I loved the wild chickens walking all over Key West! You can hear them cackling to each other all over town!
