      August vacation

Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have stayed at Pelican Landing during the first week of lobster season for 7 years. The location is convenient and it is nice that boat dockage is included. However, the condo we stay in each year has steadily declined in quality. Problems included:
      1. Roaches in the condo
      2. Inadequate kitchen supplies (few forks; huge pots but no saucepans, leaking plastic cups, fewer dishes and cups than year before)
      3. Housekeeping was reduced from daily to twice per our 9-day visit. Supplies were not adequately restocked. (no replacement kitchen soap, sponge; only one dishtowel).
      4. We left a list of needed supplies with the front office. Even then, supplies were not stocked. Wash cloths, dish towels, kitchen soap were requested and not delivered.
      5. Appliances in poor condition: refrigerator had broken and missing shelves in the door; the refridgerator was not very cold; half of the toaster did not work; seal on the oven is ragged; the window airconditioner in the second bedroom was not very cold.
Nothing in the condo was improved or replaced from the previous year. This condo is advertised for up to 6 adults, but only has a small round dining table that seats 4.
Boat dockage is convenient, but no dock improvements are ever made. Our slip did not have cleats on one pole used for tying up our boat.
Feral cats are allowed to roam the property. These poor creatures look diseased and malnutritioned and should be removed to a shelter.
We feel the price is too high for the quality of the accommodations.

Beautiful condo, a little far from Duval st. Management not a f

Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The condo itself was amazing, fully stocked, clean, and the balconies were great. Only problem with cleanliness was each night around 1-2 in the morning, many cockroaches seemed to appear, especially in the kitchen area. Since we kept the place relatively clean, it was surprising to see. It's about a 20 minute walk to Duval St, easy drive/bike. Management was helpful at times, but it is clear they are not a fan of groups of mid to late 20 year olds. They obviously prefer older groups/families and they make that clear to you from Day 1. After getting a noise complaint (albeit shouldn't have been directed at our room) I was told the next day by management that they would kick us out if there was another complaint. Not the best way to interact with your paying customers. Overall- 4/5, would come back again, just try to avoid management.

First impressions are key...with that said, the location was good, easy to find plenty of parking...however, the power was out when we arrived, thankfully we only had to lug our luggage up the stairs to the second floor. There was an issue with one of the bathroom door knobs which the management onsite took care of right away..(we had 4kids in our room). We had plenty of room for all and the kitchen was adequate for our needs. Nice pool, and bbq area.

      Good stay, some cleanliness issues

Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Condos were beautiful, well stocked, and management was friendly. Had some problems with bugs (roaches) on a nightly basis though, on counters, near food, etc. Overall though, for the price, great choice.

Was more than we expected. The location and accessiblity was great! Only a 5 min bike ride to Duval st. The unit was clean and well kept. Everything was provided for, from dishes, pots, pans and blender, as well as detergents and laundry inside the unit. Private access to pool and grill. Very pet friendly and accomodating. Staff was friendly and professional. We look forward to returning!

This was a perfect just outside the centre location. Two bedroom suite had all you could ask for. However, the floor was filthy, which always begs one to ask how clean was the rest of the condo

      Comfortable and Relaxing

Left on 01/02/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Place was clean and spacious. We walked to Duval Street several times (1.5 miles) and rented bikes nearby to go further. It was nice to be close enough to walk to some of the area attractions, but it was really nice to be far enough removed to relax. The dive shop was within walking distance and very convenient. A few of our neighbors were a bit rowdy and definitely having a good time. We didn't need to use a boat slip or the grill downstairs. I don't think any of us used the pool, but could have if we had wanted. The only things I would change would be the comforters on the beds and the non-working safes in the rooms.

      Comfortable and Relaxing

Left on 01/01/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We were very pleased with the Dominica Retreat overall. The comforters on the beds were oddly lumpy, but the bedding was clean. Our neighbors were very rowdy, but they apologized and tried to curtail their sound levels. We walked to Duval Street every day and rented bikes from nearby vendor for further exploration. Our dive shop was adjacent to us, so we walked over to the boat. We were able to relax and felt very comfortable there. Would definitely go back!

Old and a bit run down

Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011

Pelican Landing is an older facility. The rooms were tired with lumpy comforters on the bed, greasy feeling tile floors (maybe from years of suntan lotion sprayed indiscriminantly and not moped up). All the elements were there in a two bedroom suite, but the place could use major facelift given the prices they charge. It may have water on one side, but is situated between two highways so noise is a factor. Sound also travels easily through the walls so the sleep you get depends upon how quite your neighbors are. Plus the noisy elevator worked eratically.

Not as good as last year...

Left on 08/03/2010 for a stay in August 2010

I suggest new pots and pans for next year. I tried to clean one of the pots and after scrubbing for 20 minutes, the black build up on the inside was still not off.
Also, the cleaning service only came one day of our 7 night stay.
