Call it casual luxury. Call it tropical chic. This two bedroom/two full bath Harbour Place condominium is a part of Key West's prestigious Truman Annex community. From the luxurious pool area below, you can enjoy breathtaking views just steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Watch passing tall ships, cruise ships, pleasure boats, party boats, sport boats. Watch evening after evening of world-famous Key West sunsets. Sun yourself or take a swim as pelicans and puffy clouds waft overhead-the pool is for Harbour Place guests only, surrounded by lush tropical foliage, and the water is temperature-controlled and inviting.
Three stories up (by eleva...tor or stairs), the balcony of this professionally decorated condo features chairs, a glass-top table, and glimpses of the Gulf waters along the length of the historic Naval Station administration building. As you enter, the kitchen is to the left and features all the modern conveniences you'd expect in a classic residence, whether you're planning to make occasional sandwiches or a full gourmet meal. Done in blond wood with sand countertops and white appliances, the kitchen gleams under recessed lighting fixtures sprinkled across the ceiling. A sign over the stove echoes the name of the residence, "Havana Hideaway," and sets the design tone in decorative tile: "Havana Day Dreamin'." One wall of the kitchen provides a convenient counter and pass-through to the dining area.
The rectangular dining table and four slatted chairs are as ideal for a game of cards or Trivial Pursuit as for a meal. Right beyond is the living room space delineated by a colorful octagonal area rug. The comfy seating includes a generously sized couch and occasional chairs facing a flat-screen TV, posters of Havana, lamps, and other delightful decorative touches. Above is a tiki tropical ceiling fan circulating air, its palm leaf blades suggesting the romance of La Habana. Of course there's cable, wireless high-speed internet, and a DVD player. Ambient light fills the room from the wall of glass and glass door out onto your private balcony and outside seating area.
Back across from the kitchen is a half bath and laundry closet with a new large-capacity stacked washer and dryer. To the right is a hallway with a full bath to the right and guest bedroom to the left. The master bedroom with en suite full bath is at the end of the hallway.
The guest room has a very comfortable queen bed, plenty of drawer and closet space, decorative lamps, and a tropical fan above. The color scheme is clean white with accents of lime green. Delicate tropical fish decorate two lamps that rest on small tables on both sides of the bed. One wall features a large window with a view of swaying palms beyond. The double glass doors on the same wall open onto the deck where you can sit in your PJs to have your morning coffee, bask in the sun, and enjoy the view. All the glass is hung with slatted window blinds that easily open and close to let in the light or close out the dark. The closet houses a roll-away bed, bedding, hanging space, and shelf space.
The master bedroom is painted in white with a blue accent wall. The room features a canopy-frame king bed, bedside tables with reading lamps, and a dark wood dresser with plenty of drawer space. A TV and lamp rest atop the dresser. The closet in this room stores another roll-away and has plenty of hanging and shelf space. The en suite bath has a linen closet with fluffy bath towels and colorful beach towels. Double sinks are generously spaced apart with doors and drawers below for your toilet articles. One wall of the large two-person shower area is decorated in brown and beige glass tiles creating a sense of a cascading water fall. A colorful travel poster of people dressed in Sunday best attending an event at the Havana-American Jockey Club adds a color-filled accent to the room.
Once you've enjoyed checking out your vacation get-away and unpacked, it's time to venture out. Steps from your door enjoy the manicured landscaping, verdant palms, and interconnecting pathways that give your Truman Annex neighborhood its park-like atmosphere. Once outside the wrought iron privacy gates, you're literally just steps from the free-spirited fun of America's only Caribbean island: the Historic Seaport, Duval Street, the Southernmost Point, Fort Zachery Taylor beach, or the beaches along the Atlantic. Check out the tours, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. While your condo comes with reserved and covered parking, you'll find you don't really need a car. From your central location, everything is easily accessible by foot or bike or pedicab or taxi.

The apartment is very comfortable and sunny. The beds are both great. Everything works perfectly. The washer/dryer, dishwasher, showers, air conditioner, coffee pot, toaster, oven, - all excellent.
The building is usually quiet, although you can hear the announcements on the cruise ships parked right outside of the property. That's during the day. Most afternoons there seems to be a pool party at the resort next door with a DJ/MC and some pretty lame "caribbean" music. It's loud and really annoying but it lasts about 90 minutes We had one crazy partying neighbor that kept us awake a few nights, but I should have called security and had them put a stop to it. The Pool is great, heated and clean. It's not very child friendly, as most residents are adults reading and quietly tanning. This is the wrong venue for a loud group. We had kids at the pool one day and everyone was a bit annoyed that the parents let them run around screaming. It's a no smoking property, and I heard one resident ask a guy by the pool to extinguish his cigar. Also, they prohibit alcohol by the pool, and food.
The Truman annex, where this apartment is located, has a quiet vibe, unlike the rest of Key West. It's a good place for relaxing and walking or biking. It's not a good spot for energetic groups or young people who are in Key West to party. There are plenty of other places for more celebratory folks.
The apartment's cooking equipment is very basic. It could use a couple of better pots and pans.
We were there for a month and enjoyed the apartment and the building very much. It's very clean and well run.

Condo is clean & roomy. Plenty of instructions for staying at condo and how to access internet, tv, etc. We really enjoy the pool on the water and the easy access to all of Key West, while staying in a quiet secluded area.

Perfect location! Right next door to Mallory Square, the Harbor Walk, Truman's Little White House, the aquarium, the arts Museum, Duval St and your private pool. Everywhere you want to go to, everything you want to do is right there the moment you step out of your door. You are surrounded by sunshine. You must resist being mesmerized by your waterfront private balcony where you can tan all day and watch the gigantic ships cruise by and watch the most amazing sunset every night. You'll fall in love with this condo as it will make you fall in love with Key West. We are sold!

We rent from Historic Hideaways every year and always have great places to stay. This time we needed a rental for a week. This property was perfectly located and extremely comfortable. We shared it with another couple, there was plenty of seating in the living room, even on the day when it poured down rain and we were stuck inside for hours. The kitchen was well equipped, but we ate out so never used any of the appliances except the coffee maker.

This was one of the greatest stays that we have had. Condo was within walking distance to everything block to most. Very nice place to stay. Easy check in and check out process. This place has a great view from pool. We were here in December with about 80 degree temps each day so we shut down the air and had the doors open most of the time the only draw back to this is the chickens will wake you in the morning. 1 block to the westin to hopp a shuttle to sunset key for dinner at latitudes. We will be staying at this condo next time we are in town.
