Austin, TXBeautiful area of Key West in gated community close to everythin
Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We rented Villa Soleil in Truman annex for a girls getaway. The owner and the management company were so easy to work with and responded to any questions immediately. The condo was nicely furnished and decorated. The pictures don't really do it justice. One drawback was a very hard mattress in the 2nd floor bedroom, but that could be personal preference.
A pleasant surprise was the private courtyard with seating for four. Truman annex is my favorite place to stay in Key West because the grounds are so beautifully landscaped. Since it is gated, there is very little traffic and it is quiet. We were just a block or so away from Mallory Square, a couple blocks from all the activity on Duval, and within walking distance to most of the attractions. We particularly enjoyed going to a play at the Waterfront Playhouse in Mallory Square.

We had a nice time staying at Villa Soleil.
It was just as advertised.
Pros:great location, 2 BR, 2.5 baths
small garden area.
good wifi.
Small pool is close by.
Close to Duvall and many restaurants. 15 min walk to Fort Zach Beach
Cons:small bathrooms. No screens on windows. Awkwardly designed kitchen area.
End unit so more foot traffic near your windows. -

Washington, DCMostly OK.
Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Our stay was interrupted by a crew jack hammering out the sidewalk next to the living room and kitchen at 7:30 in the morning. The next day the crew repaired the sidewalk and blocked the area with a cement truck. The unit was OK, the furnishings were modest, the two beach chairs were un-useable and the privacy of the unit is compromised a bit by having the cut thru walk be so close to the unit. This was our fourth rental at the foundry and it ranked 4th.

The home was nice. Downfall is that you can here everything from upstairs bedroom in the downstairs bedroom. Community pool is too small. Great location to Duvall St.

I have stayed at Villa Soleil several times over the last several years for the same reason. It's a high class place that has everything you need with a great location and quiet when you expect it. You can't find a better location. Lot's of stairs, so probably not the best for people who are challenged with that. Riley

I stayed with my sister and her boyfriend who made the reservation in his name. They will submit a review soon too.
We stayed at Villa Soleil at the Foundry. It was just perfect. Well worth the price and right in the the historic gated Truman annex and close to waterfront! The rooms and living areas were immaculate. The wifi worked perfect. I hope to stay again at the same place if it doesn't get found out and booked solid.
Thanks so much for being a huge part of the best vacation ever! Barry

Left on 03/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This condo is everthing that the positive reviews says it was. four adults stayed the week. The location can't be beat, easy access to Duval St and the Zach Taylor state beach. Although you can walk to the beach, I'd recommend taking your car if you have one. In fact, if you have four people as we did, its actually $2 cheaper for the day and you can park just about in front of where you want to set up. The condo has two full size beach chairs in the closer...nice touch. It had plenty of towels, paper goods, utensils, tvs and a great cd player to play lots of Buffet. The place was very clean and in good working order. The parking spot is actually under cover. This is an end unit with a walkway that leads behind the unit and onto the Truman annex street that leads left towards the Westin, straight to Duval and right to the beach. Also, taking this walkway across the street and up admirals lane leads to a small pool that the Foundry condos use. Arrived late and the key/document retrival worked great. Key drop off was easy also, as the rental site is on route one on the way out of town.
Note to maintenance: the front gate latch attachment needs its screws tightened (tighted some with finger so we could get gate latched)...other than that, all was well.
I'd recommend this condo as well as the Truman annex to others. -

My husband and I took our 2 sons and their wives to Key West. This condo was in an excellent location, clean and well equipped. The only downside was that the pull out couch had a bent frame and was very uncomfortable for 2 adults to sleep on. They ended up sleeping on the floor! Other than that-Great time and loved the place!

We were in town for Fantasy Fest with some friends. Last year we stayed at hotels and decided to do a Condo and stay together this year. We are so very glad that we did. The cost split was cheaper than our separate hotel rooms during this particular week. We had a much better location. It was perfect, we walked out our door and down a block to be on Duval Street right in the heart of it all.
The condo itself was roomy and had everything that we needed. We loved being in a quiet, gated community during the day. We brought our bikes to ride around and left them in the little patio area, we were never worried about them. The community was cozy and safe. Definitely coming back again!!! Another thing, the rental agency was very helpful and kind! My agent was Libby and she was great!! Always answered questions and got back to me no problem!! Thank you!!! -

The unit was fine. Linens could have been better. Use of patio was limited due to sun; some type of pergola or awning would be nice. Upper floor was quite warm and twin beds were set up for king only had a sheet holding them together so it didn't work well.
Response from At Home In Key West, Inc. - 08/25/2011
Manager
Thank you for taking the time to review our home. We will share your suggestion of an awning or pergola with the owner; the linens were recently purchased and we will review their quality.
If the a/c was not operating properly, we would have had it fixed if we had known. The setup for converting twin beds to a king is a "king converter" consisting of a strap tightened around the perimeter of the twin mattresses once they are pushed together, then placing a pad over the space between the mattresses, a mattress pad and then king sheets. This is typically very successful; it may not have been assembled properly if you felt it wasn't working well. Again, a call to our office could have resolved this during your stay.
At Home In Key West strives to exceed our guests' expectations; we would love the opportunity to show you on your next visit to Key West. -

Idaho Falls, IdahoGreat Place To Stay in Truman annex
Left on 06/08/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Villa Soleil is a very clean and comfortable place to stay in Key West. It is in a secure and quiet area that is located right in the middle of the main attractions on Duval. The unit is well furnished and has an excellent kitchen. Parking for this unit is directly behind the place and conveinent. Great place for a family or two couples. Access to Fort Zack beach is as good as it gets. Downside - The pool is small (but not crowded) and there are alot of stairs to reach the bedrooms.
My friends and I have been coming to KW to fish the flats for over a decade and stayed in many places over the years. Truman annex is a great place to stay in KW and Villa Soleil is one of the best in Truman annex. I will stay there again. -

Great great location, weather was fabulous, extremely relaxing for all. Kitched was fairly well equipped...Only negative was that could not find cutting board and many of kitchen cabinets were so tall you couldn't easily access them.
A bit short on the toilet paper supply for an entire week stay as well. -

It was such a pleasure to be so close to down town Key West. We found Fort Zachary taylor a wonderful park to relax in. I liked the secure feeling in truman annex. I must say the repair people on the property were great, we had a problem with the gate sticking and it was taken care of immediately. the house was very comfortable.Thank you so much in giving us the opportunity to share your home

Chicago, ILVilla Soleil at the Truman annex
Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We had an incredible time at this wonderful townhouse that is well appointed, close to everything like Duval Street and Mallory Square but yet worlds away in comfort, relaxation, peace/quiet and general serenity. It was a perfect home base for our little family to explore Key West, participate in a wedding and just generally take in anything and everything that Key West has to offer (which by the way is quite a lot). We would definitely recommend staying at Villa Soleil in the Truman annex where the little White House is a stone's throw away and virtually everything else a short stroll, walk or drive.

Coconut Creek, FloridaGrumpy residents!!!!
Left on 04/09/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I love the Truman Annex. It is beautiful in there. However, the residents DO
NOT like families with children!!! They are annoyed and complain about any
noise what so ever no matter what time of day. Children like to laugh and play,
if you can't handle a normal volume of talking and children playing then
perhaps you should consider a new residence. We will not be staying in there
again.
Now if you do not have children and do not mind remaining quiet at ALL hours
of the day, then it is a wonderful place to stay. Very close to Duval and Mallory
Square. -

Left on 12/22/2009 for a stay in November 2009
We opted for Key West as our family destination vacation for Thanksgiving. We thought it a good idea to stay in a vacation rental to accomodated our adult family of five. We were looking for a spacious, beautiful lodging located within walking distance to Duval, seaport, beach, and found everything we hoped for in Villa Soleil at Truman Annex. The home was fab, all amenities, safe, quiet, gated community, we were truly delighted. Thanks to the owners who opened their home for rental. The only marginal concern was finding a few minor blemishes in the home we did not want to be held accountable for. We immediately called the office to report the minor issues, and everything was fine. The staff was excellent, the Villa was lovely, the entire experience was nice, nice, nice. Thank you!

We just stayed for 10 days at Villa Soliel and our only problem was we didn't stay longer. I love the fact that there are 3 levels. When our adult children visited, we each had our own floor and bathroom. It is very sunny (as the name would suggest) but also very private. The owners are great and responsive. There is a new cart they just purchased for us to use to take beach chairs to the state park/beach. You can also use it to go to the market.
Key West is a wonderful vacation spot. There is so much to do - great beach, wonderful weather, many historical sites, walks to take, and a vibrant night life.
Of all the places to stay in Key West, we think the Foundry Building in the Truman Annex (where Villa Soliel is) is one of the best spots. -

Cortland NYWonderful place and location
Left on 03/20/2009 for a stay in March 2009
The Foundry is a wonderful place, the location is exceptional. We did have a few problems locating the pool, and the staff also was a little confused about its location. Would suggest that they become more familiar with the properties. I have a suggestion regarding the property, first it would be a good idea to install a door in the third floor bedroom. One of our co-renters fell down the stairs during the night, resulting with a trip to the emergency room. It is really dangerous. Also you may think this picky but, the rug in the living room needs to be replaced. The property is to high end to have a rug so filthy, it stands out like a sore thumb. Was also confused by the fact that so many spring breakers were in the surrounding properties. Most of the information I read stated that spring breakers were not rented to, not the case, a little disappointing.
Overall just the fact that your in Key West in a wonderful location in a very nice rental unit can help you overlook the little things.

agent taking our orig reservation retired & no one assumed our rental. called them 3 days before leaving to get check in & key info. while there, we couldn't find pool so called agent, who told us he'd check where it was & called back to say Presidents Lane. Couldn't find this street so walked looking for pool & found it on Admirals Lane. After 2 days, we realized our gate key didn't work & got new keys from another onsite realtor. we enjoyed home but had issues with agent representing owner.

Left on 11/07/2008 for a stay in July 2007
After endless searching for a getaway to celebrate my 60th birthday, my wish to spend a whole month in Key West came true! Villa Soleil was the best present I could have asked for. It is a lovely end unit townhome with a wall of sunlit floor to ceiling windows, an intimate courtyard tucked among giant tropical plants and a stone's throw from a private pool. The kitchen is pleasantly spacious with just the right flair of gourmet touches. A small gas grill off the deck delivers a powerhouse of efficient, savory dinners for two. Even listening to the rain on the tin roof rates as magical. Add in state of the art wireless technology, and it is truly home away from home. All the places we hang out are just a short walk (or crawl) away! Love the covered parking space!
