Redding, CTPerfect!
Left on 04/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This location was just perfect. If you are visiting Key West for the ocean, this condo is right on the water and a five minute walk to Higgs beach for awesome snorkeling and five minutes in the other direction to Smathers beach. The sliding glass doors that open on to each other make the inside almost completely open to the outside, Its wonderful to feel the ocean breezes throughout the home. The beaches are beautiful but its so hard to leave the private deck with spectacular views. Make sure you wake up to enjoy the amazing sunrise and watch the pelicans diving for breakfast! Rent bicycles for an enjoyable short ride to Duval St. It's all you need to enjoy the island. The condo is the perfect size and is so comfortable. Everything you need is there. Plenty of towels, a blow dryer, well stocked kitchen, a blender for frozen drinks,a great stereo and TV, and a washer and dryer. The open sliding glass doors in the shower/bath area make it feel almost like an outdoor shower. The only thing I didn't like was that there was no outdoor grill. It would have been so nice to cook outside and have dinner on the deck. Everyone at Rent Key West Vacations was so helpful and accommodating in every way. We arrived early and they did everything possible to get us into the condo as soon as possible so we could begin enjoying our vacation right away. Can not wait to go back. There is no place else I'd want to stay.

Webster NYFantastic Waterfront Vacation apartment
Left on 03/16/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Casa atlantica is right on the southern shore of Key West. You can see the sun rise. And, best of all, it's like your own apartment. None of this commercial high rise living. It's quiet and private and lovely, with a caretaker downstairs in case you need anything. Architecturally designed and a great value. Also is right between two public beaches so you can walk on the waterfront wherever you go.

Toronto, CanadaUpscale elegance in a beautiful location
Left on 11/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We rented this beautiful apartment for a week at the end of October 2012. It is not exactly as pictured - it is sooo much better. I was worried the place would be really small for the money but it is not. There is a very large living / dining area which is flanked by a wall of patio doors and the room is very well appointed. The space is airy, bright and boasts a spectacular view of the ocean. The balcony off of that "great room" is very private. A great place to get a fullsome tan or sit and watch the pelicans fishing in the ocean.
With all that sun coming in I worried the a/C wouldn't keep up, but it was very comfortable at all times. The wifi is great and there is a nice-sized flat screen TV with satellite where we watched SanFrancisco beat Detroit in the World Series. Go Giants!
There is a wonderful soaking tub in the bathroom area. The shower head above the tub basically sprays the whole room when you shower, so the floor gets pretty soaked, but the floor is tiled and has two drains, so it all works out.
The kitchen was well stocked and everything worked. In fact the fire alarm just outside of the kitchen worked too well and went off a couple of times just from the humidity of boiling pasta. This was easily remedied by fanning the alarm unit and then closing the kitchen doors while cooking. The bed and bedroom afford a very comfortable and quiet night's rest. The location suited us just fine. We had a car and drove downtown most of the time but if you don't mind a 2-2.5 mile, pleasant walk you could get yourself to Duval St. Another half a mile and you are at Mallory Square. The walk took only about 45mins (at a quick pace). The parking is on the street, or if you are lucky you can get the lone non-handicapped parking spot in the adjacent park and you can park there overnight. There are only 3 spots, two of them are handicapped but the third is not.
There is no swimming pool available. We didn't swim in the ocean but I don't see why you couldn't if that's your thing. Access from the unit to the ocean is down the stairs, out the front door and over pebbles and lots of washed up sea-weed to get in the water. So I think you'd really have to want to do it. There was some construction going on in the backyard, but this was not a problem for us at all. I don't know if use of the backyard is for renters or not. There are two rentals - 2nd and 3rd floor- and a very pleasant and gracious permanent resident on the first floor. There are four sections of about 8 steps each to get to the 2nd floor unit. For most of the time the 3rd unit was vacant but when those tenants arrived we noticed how much noise comes from the staircase when people are travelling past the 2nd floor unit. Also there was a minor dip in water pressure once the building was full, but not a big problem at all either. Very minor.
It is not suited for children or loud party groups. Sadly, it is not suitable for anyone who would have trouble climbing the stairs or climbing into that deep tub to have a bath or shower.
The staff at Key West rentals provided great directions and service. I had no issues with payment, reservations or picking up the keys.
I will stay here again.
Absolutely loved it. The stress just melted away the minute I walked in the door. I think staying here for a week actually added years to my life!! -

Cleveland, OhioAbsolutely breathtaking, romantic view of the atlantic!
Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in November 2011
My wife and I stayed at the Casa atlantica in November 2011 on our honeymoon. The property and the management exceeded every expectation.
As many have noted, the view of the atlantic from this property simply can not be captured in pictures - it will take your breath away. The breeze and the view from the balcony is among the most incredible views I have ever seen. You will wake up every morning and the view will strike you wonderfully senseless every single time. This condo is somewhat distant from the bustle of Duval St (which I liked) but it's KW...it's a pretty quick mile-and-a-half drive (or walk, if that's your thing...we walked it a few times when the weather permitted) to Duval.
We didn't watch a lot of TV during our stay, but there was a very nice HD flatscreen with full HD cable service and a DVR. We used the stereo system pretty frequently while we were here, which was fantastic and appreciated - it was a newer Sony minisystem with remote control and Ipod connectivity, which sounded great on the remote speakers. The WiFi was fast, responsive, and consistent - we listened to streaming audio over WiFi (using my iPhone) on the stereo for hours and never had a buffering error or anything like that.
We thought the bed and living room furniture were quite comfortable - I know some have mentioned issues with it, but we found it to be comfortable and fitting the ambiance of the condo. Our neighbor downstairs was very nice and cordial - she really made us feel at home! There is limited (and I mean limited) on-street parking in front of the condo, but I was always able to find parking off a quiet, safe side street if needed - no overnight parking restrictions.
The shower had a rather unique setup without a curtain, but as others have mentioned, it did the trick just fine.
We cooked dinner a few nights, and the full kitchen was very nice and included pretty much every bit of kitchenware and accessories (even a coffee maker!) that one could want. The dishwasher, fridge, freezer, and stove all worked perfectly without a hitch.
Check-in was a snap - we drove to the rental office in downtown KW and our key was waiting for us in a combination lockbox (as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the office was closed). We stopped by the office one day and the staff was very cordial with great restaurant recommendations.
I should note that the stairway to the condo entrance is made of stone, with hard edges, and is somewhat steep. We had no issue with it at all, but some folks may want to be aware of this.
I was beyond satisfied with our stay at the Casa atlantica - every expectation I had (and they were high) was surpassed. We will absolutely be coming back in the future! -

We had a great time in Casa atlantica. The view from the moment you walk through the apartment door is stunning- you are looking across the beautiful living room then out across the eight full glass windows on to the terrace and then to the ocean. That wow factor hit us every time we returned to the apartment. It was spotlessly clean and made for a perfect stay. We would fully recommend it.

We had a really lovely time in Key West. This property is far enough away from the "town" that it was very quiet, yet close enough to get dinner & such. I misread the description, and the apt is up 2 flights of stairs, not just one. It was a bit of a pain with our luggage & groceries, but not insurmountable. The shade hut with the lounge chairs right next to the water was heavenly! Will rent again if I come back to KW!

This condo was very nice. The wall of windows is wonderful. The doors open onto each other, which opens the entire wall. The upkeep on the room is very efficient. The kitchen is well stocked, as far as appliances. The bathtub is quite an experience. No shower curtain is a bit unnerving. Overall, the only "complaint" I have is beyond the condo's control. The seaweed was very aromatic when we were there (July/August).

Left on 05/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This vacation was our 25th anniversary, and was planned as a quiet peaceful romantic getaway with an incredible view of the ocean: this location served that purpose perfectly! The only two drawbacks that we observed were (1) living room furniture was not very comfy (no lumbar support), so we sat outside on the deck most of the time, and (2) the city of Key West dumps seaweed debris right next to the condo, and it can smell when the breeze dies down. Rate this stay at about 90% due to these two drawbacks.

Left on 04/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We were looking for an ocean view and away from the hubbub of Mallory Square. This property met both criteria. The on-line photos can't capture the actual experience of having an unobstructed 30 foot picture window view of the atlantic any time you want to look.
Previous comments we read prepared us for the unusual shower/bath design. Not the way I would have done it, but it worked.
Parking is hit and miss and mostly on a side street near the property. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and available space was never a problem. (Still closer than what one would have at the fanciest hotel in Key West.) -

The pictures of the place on the website do not do justice to this apartment. My wife and I were so surprised when we open the door and when in, the ocean view was more that we expected and the size of the apt had was great. The Kitchen had everything you would need to cook and there were plenty of towel including beach towels for our trips to the beach. We had a great time and this was a great vacation to just relax and enjoy the sun and fun of Key West. We plan on coming back next year.

Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We loved staying at Casa atlantica - in fact I don't think the website photos do it justice at all!!! The sliding 'wall of glass' out onto the balcony overlooking the atlantic was just fantastic - and south facing so an absolute sun trap. We found the place so peaceful and relaxing that we actually spent many days lying on the sunbeds on our balcony, gin and tonic in hand, reading some of the many books in the apartment, rather than exploring the keys (which we still did, but not every day). There were a few small hiccups eg. the smoke alarm being pretty sensitive so cooking needed to be done with care, but otherwise we had a brilliantly relaxing holiday. Btw our favourite restaurant by far, was Louie's Backyard, not the cheapest but definitely the best food we had all fortnight (we even went twice !).

Left on 09/07/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My wife and I went to Key West for the first time to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We are not big Florida fans but thought we would give it a try. We wanted a condo a bit off the beaten path and wanted it to be on the water. Casa atlantica was perfect in every sense. Joyce at agency was very helpful giving us the whole scoop on the city. When we arrived at the condo it was sparkling. The all glass living area and the awesome view is breath taking. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so much nicer than that. There is some wear and tear on the cabinets and fixtures but the stucco romantic rooms and the fabulous art more than make up for it. We rented bikes from Recycle and they were great and delivered them right to our door. This is definitely the way to go when you are at Key West. We moved the car only once the entire week! I would highly recommend the Danger Sunset Wine cruise and the Danger all day snorkeling and kayaking adventure. Captain Dee's is the best! And Salute is a great restaurant to end the day. Great trip, great place, we will be back!

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Overall we had a great trip. The accommodations while not luxurious were adequate. The lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom could lead to problems with a wet floor so we needed to be careful when exiting the shower. Another problem we encountered was the fact that the City dumped seagrass collected from the beaches in the area next to our condo which lead to a sometimes very toxic odor and prevented us from sitting on the deck. I know parking is at a minimum in the City and when the City enforces a new parking arrangement for the Condo it will be difficult to park near the condo. Management should try to arrange a parking solution in the near future.
Response from Rent Key West Vacations - 07/06/2011
Manager
During our warm summers the sea grass collects on our beaches and occasionally gives off a sulphur sent. It happens throughout the island chain . There's 3 parking spots across the street, along the street. The city just changed this where there was at least 6 spots. Luckily, there's a side street less than a block away providing plenty of free off-street parking

I have stayed at Casa atlantica previously and had always wanted to return. No place any closer to the wated anywhere on Key West! Far enough away from Duval to live like a local but close enough to get to the action when desired. Did have a small issue with termites hatching in the bedroom. Please spray!
Response from Rent Key West Vacations - 05/12/2011
Manager
We are happy that these guests returned to to stay with us again! Termites swarn in a very short and cyclical manor in the Spring. Most buildings in the subtropics have them and a simple spray does not stop the insects from swarming. The swarming is quick process and it ends in just a few days.

Webster, NYBest Ocean View in Key West!
Left on 03/15/2011 for a stay in February 2011
What's not to love about Casa atlantica?! The full width of the unit is right on the ocean, with a tiki hut right on the beach in the back yard. We woke up to sunrise on the balcony every morning. Plus, the place is absolutely immaculate and filled with beautiful art and architecturally designed interior details. The location is close enough to town to walk in, but far away to avoid the bustle and noise. The unit is right in between two wonderful public beaches. So each morning we took a long beach walk.
The unit is comfortably appointed. You have everything you need. The only thing missing is a pool. However, there is a public pool within five minutes which we did enjoy and use almost daily. The rental agency is top drawer. They are on top of every detail and did an outstanding job. You won't go wrong with this combination! -

If you want views this is the home to rent. You will not be disappointed. The service from check in to problem solving was excellent. The location was nice and it was far enough away from the hopping square to be peaceful and quiet. The amenities were good. The furniture in the living area was not comfortable. Would not reccomend for the elderly. The stairs are not for sissys and the bath tub was very hard to get into and out of.
We liked best the restful balcony with the great views and liked least the uncomfortable sofa and chairs, the deep bath tub and the many stairs. -

Left on 02/26/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Casa Atlantica One Bedroom condo has both positives and negatives but the positives generally outweight the negatives. Positives: Great ocean view, location next to Higgs beach, large balcony, comtemporary design, comfortable bed, elegant livingroom & bathroom design. Negatives: 2 flights of stairs (no elevator)make luggage/groceries etc challenging, somewhat dated furnishings, improper light bulbs cause dark lighting at night, open shower design with no curtain makes a mess, some broken cabinet hinges. In summary, all except the stairs could be easily fixed at minimal expense to dramatically improve the property to 5 stars. An outdoor dining table and chairs on the large deck would also be a pleasant addition.

The view from the apartment and deck is magnificent. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated. If we chose to say in, the apartment had everything we needed to prepare a quick meal to enjoy at home while we took in the view. We did not have a car or rent a car. After the intitial taxi ride to the apartment, A&M bikes came directly to our door and we were able to rent bikes for the week with little hassle. The walk to Duval street ie easily doable. The apartment certainly had been decorated with flare. Is a little worn and tired and some things were impractical or just don't work. Several light bulbs were out; sound system didn't work; door of one of the kitchen cupboards had a broken hinge and was unusable (or dangerous). Couldn't use the shower without a major mop-up afterwards. There was insufficient lighting to read comfortably after dark.

The views from Casa Atlantica are awesome.
The living room furniture is very uncomfortable.
We had pin ants in the living room.
They should fix the music system. The whole apartment is wired for sound but the CD/Tape/Tuner unit unit shuts itself down after 15 seconds...so not music and no dancing.
The fact that you need to rig a shower curtain in the bathroom facing the main street is odd.
They should put a TV in the MBR.
The login information for the internet didn't work so I could not check e-mails, etc...THANK YOU..it was wonderful to disconnect -

My husband and I spend a luxurious six days at the casa atlantica. I was drawn to stay here due to the original design of the interior. The actual interior far exceeded the pictures of the website. In terms of location, the casa is farther from the main areas..we used the bus which meets at a corner close to the property, and a cab which costs about 7 dollars fare to the duval street area. The property is beautiful, comfortable...having the kitchen made our stay very enjoyable. The rental office was easy to work with and play our stay. Would recommend to anyone!

We stay at Casa Atlantica every year...it is home to us. Our first stay was the studio and we have stayed in the studio once or twice since but we normally stay in the one bedroom.
The studio needed some upgrading on the condition of the appliances in the kitchen the last time we were in it.........and the closet arrangement needs help badly, but it is a wonderful romantic room and the private deck is just the best!!
The one bedroom is way cool.........we love it! The stove in the kitchen is the same one that was there I think since we have been going and it really has needed to be replaced the last couple of years.
We love Key West and have had a great relationship with the people we have dealt with at Rent Key West since we first went to Key West.

Centrally located to be within walking distance of Duval Street as well as Smathers Beach. It was smaller and a very quiet setting. There were nice maintained beaches just next door to the home and White Street Pier was a nice location to view the sunset without the crowds of Malory Square. Although we did not travel with our dogs on this trip, I liked that there was a dog park within a block. Also nearby was a wonderful small botanical garden that, had we not stayed near, would have been an attraction we would have missed in Key West and we enjoyed the beautiful flowers and views it offered.
The decor of the home was beautiful and very functional. It had all standard electronics to enjoy time in the home. Having shared laundry access within the home was also helpful. It was private and quiet and you felt that you had the place to yourself. On a down-side, the deck overlooking the ocean was lacking. It could use a new coat of stain and new patio furniture. Although it served it's function, it was not very nice looking. The sliding door going out to the deck was loose and on windy nights we had to place towels along the bottom to stop the rattling noise it made. -

This rental is near everything yet not in the heart of Duval. You experience Key West the shops, the restuarants and the nite life. But on the other side you get the view of the Ocean. With sliders that open up the complete back wall onto a deck with a view. The apartment is clean and has everything you need. We have stayed at Casa Atlantica several times and have recommended it to our freinds. Hope to go back soon.

We enjoyed our stay, however found it a bit inconvenient to have to remove and wash the bedding before leaving. Also, the occupant on the first floor was very nosy and always checked on our company. We are not young people------in fact, senior citizens and the only company we had was our children who also were not teenagers and we made no noise to bother them.

We love Key West. And we love to stay on the ocean side. This rental opportunity looked great on the website. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a nasty neighbor who barked at us about being quiet for the week. We were just climbing the stairs with our luggage! He was the cleaning help for this managment company and had free living space below our rental. Not a great experience. The furniture was uncomfortable. The view was great. We will go to Key West again, but will not use this management company. When we advised the company of this unacceptable behavior, no attempt to make an adjustment or apology was made, just "yes, we know that he is unkind sometimes". Really, then fire him!!!!!!!!

Manager
The Casa Atlantica One Bedroom is a popular property with sweeping views of the ocean. The "nasty neighbor" is married to the property manager hired by the owner of the building who also does the cleaning and pays rent to live in the building. He was having serious health issues at the time and medications were playing a large part in mood swings that this guest witnessed. It was an unfortunate incident, and our verbal apologies were made. Apparently not enough. The gentleman still resides there at the pleasure of the owner, not the rental agent. The apartment itself was featured in Architectural Digest in 1981 for it's Moorish interior design and has built-in furniture with a minimal feel. We have many repeat guests each year who love to return to the apartments. As the reviewer said, the view is great, well it's actually phenomenal
