ArizonaDuval Square visit
Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
The unit we rented (R127) was very nice. Almost everything we needed was there for us, it was clean, it was comfortable. The location in Key West was perfect for our purposes, as we had daily sessions at the San Carlos Institute. There were three of us, so we used both bedrooms and the sofa bed in the living room. We cooked most of our meals and usually ate outside on the balcony/porch (a little noisy because of all the rooftop a/C and other machinery, but we still enjoyed the early mornings and evenings there). We liked being on Duval Street - a little beach just down the road, a good bike shop across from us, many shops and restaurants nearby. The Duval Square condos are all part of a small, secluded, second level 'neighborhood,' stretched out along a lovely pedestrian walkway. It was a pleasure to return there at the end of each day.
We wished for an extra blanket or comforter on our beds; management finally did provide one.
We would have separated out our recyclable trash, but did not know it was required until we found the bin (with instructions) early on our last morning as we were leaving. -

Have been coming here for years. Great parking, great accommodations. Pool, secluded. Nearby entertainment, shopping. Not too far from Mallory Square, etc. Will be coming back!!! Highly recommended. Restaurants on the lower level are very good, as well.

We had a great visit to Key West. The condo was everything I expected, spacious, clean, and well decorated. a wonderful location with easy access to all areas of KW. The only negitive was the lack of supply of toilet paper and bar soap. We would highly reccomend this condo and Rent Key west Vacations.

Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We came to Key West for my sister's wedding. When we arrived at the condo, we were very pleased with the space. The food in Key West is pricey, so we enjoyed to luxury of the kitchen. It had all of the kitchen equipment necessary to cook nice meals. We also liked that the unit had a washer and dryer combo. We went home with all clean clothes!!! We were amazed of how quiet the unit was although we were literally steps away from Duval Street. The pool was nice. We laid out by the pool, and there was not another person in sight. We had a lovely time, and I would recommend the Duval Square Castaway unit to anyone vs a hotel setting! It cost about the same, (maybe a little cheaper) and the comfort of having a little space and privacy was priceless. We had an eat-in kitch, dining room, living room, 1/2 bath down stairs, and 2 bedrooms upstairs both equipped with full showers. The only complaint I have is the shower heads in the master bathroom, are ready to be changed. And thats an easy fix.

The complex is terrific! Everything a traveler wants. The owners of our unit do make it difficult though, remove hurricane shutters, please. If there was a fire, one would not be able to get out, I just wanted to open a window and let the breeze through. My gosh, we were there in Feb. (well after and before the season)

This is the second year in row we have stayed at Duval Square. The only two negatives were the 4 male visitors in the adjoining condo, who believed that singing until 4:00 a.m,. while sitting in and around the hot tub below our bedroom their last night in Key West was the way to make our visit more memorable. And the broken blender that allowed my first batch of margaritas to spill on the counter and floor. It was replaced and the party continued.
Those two minor things aside, the location is impossible to beat and assuming you have a car the convenient parking makes a great difference. -

The rental office people were nice but I really would question a management company that would rent a property next to one that is having extensive work done. The banging started at 8 am every day, even Sunday. When we walked out of our door, we had to step over a toilet and other construction materials making it difficult to get in and out of the unit. The air was not working the first day which they did fix but you could not open any windows per the little notes posted everywhere telling you what you can and can not do. I especially thought the note saying we would be charged for cleaning the dishes was charming. Or the one that threatened the air would break if a door was left open while it was running and we would most certainly be charged if that happened. Not sure the caliber of people that have previously rented the property but I certianly am not in the habit of leaving a mess for others.

As all property owners know emergency issues occasionally arise that needs immediate attention. This was the case with the plumbing work going on the next door condo. There was not extensive work being done but emergency repair work. Some of our owners feel the need to add a litle 'personal touch' in their properties to make sure the guests are enjoying their time without the chance of the need for any maintenance issues so reminder or helpful notes may be present in the unit. We also gave these guest making the review the convience of a free, early check-in and late checkout since the current bookings allowed this. When we can do this we do ask them to begin some of the cleaning chores instread of charging for the extended stay. Our checkin time is typically 3-5PM and check out is 10AM.

Our stay at the Duval Square Castaway was great. The service from Rent Key West was excellent, as always. The condo's location could not have been better... We enjoyed the rooftop pool, which was nice and cool. The condo was very clean and well kept. The restaurants below the condo had great food. The only issue we had was the upstairs did not cool off as well as the downstairs. There is a window unit in the master bedroom, which blew directly on the bed. Other than that, I would for sure recommend this place to others and would absolutely recommend renting with Key West. This was our second time w/Rent Key West and we'll be back! Thanks so much!

I am 100% about Customer Service. I am completely satisfied with the service I received. The price of the unit was slightly more expensive than companies that rent in the same complex, but it was worth it to have the added customer service. I had previously rented with Key West Vacation Rentals, and I have vowed never to stay with them again. I plan on stay with this company again, and hopefully in this unit.

Arrival to and locating of our unit was easy and simple. We finished up our check in with ease and were given some awesome recommendations of things to do and places to see. The condo was very clean and nicely decorated. We have absolutely no negatives to say about it. Except maybe that it was too hot out to really enjoy the hot tub :( . Anyone going to Key West should definitely do the "Danger" snorkel trip, we swam with wild Dolphins! Also, Islescapes' Captain Alex cooked up a very delicious sunset dinner. Go to Key west with an open mind and truly enjoy what all it has to offer, way too many things to do in a week or even a month! We love it and will keep going back. Staying in one of the properties of Rent Key West will be the first place we consider each and every time.

Once again our stay in Duval Square did not disappoint. We had a few minor maintenance issues upon check-in that were fixed the same day I reported them. You just can't beat the location for easy access to both the Southernmost and Seaport sides of the island.
The only thing I would suggest is that since wireless internet is so global now, units should provide it as an automatic service. -

We've rented from Rent Key West in the past and really like their services. We chose this house because we were 2 couples and it gave us 2 bedrooms and the shared kitchen for a little more than paying for 2 hotel rooms. Only negative thing was the 2nd bedroom upstairs didn't have a TV. Everything else was great. Terrific ice cream shop and wine bar across the street too. Good location on Duval Street on the quieter side but still close to everything.

Overall the condo was clean and well cared for. We were there at the end of July so the A/C was very important and worked very well on the 1st floor. The second floor had a window unit which I thought odd that the central air wasn't on the second floor it seemed. But if left on it did keep things nice and cool. Everything seemed to work fine but vent fan in master bath didn't work right so the shower would be fighting the A/C. Location is a bit of a walk from the duval action area but not bad. Underground secure parking garage was a bonus. Only drawbacks were the roosters must love it there as they wake you up everyday and the CVS? next door has a loading area right under the master bedroom window and a few times during the week they were there unloading large trucks around 4AM with a fair amount of noise. Overall would maybe stay there again with earplugs. Last thing the pool was hot which stunk when it is 90+ and strong sun. No internet then.

We had a great time in Key West as always. Great Complex. Condo had an odor that did not go away all week. They tried to take care of it, but it stayed all week :(
Pool and parking are great! Great Location...not too close and not too far away from everything.

Minneola, FLOverall A Great Stay
Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in July 2008
This trip was our first trip to Key West. The condo was nice and equipped with everything you would need. I will start with cons first. I wasn't too impressed with the outside of the condo. It appeared as though they were maybe renovating the outside so it wasn't very attractive. The condo pool didn't appear to be very clean and the water was really really warm our whole stay. The condo was right on Duvall street so it was kind of loud late at night with all the partying going on and first thing in the morning with all the businesses getting ready for work, not to mention the roosters waking us up at 5:30 am every morning we were there. Now the pros, the condo itself was nice and clean and it was in a great location. The parking garage was also a plus because it was gated and you didn't have to park on the street. Overall, we had a really good stay there. I would probably stay there again if we go back. It is extremely hot in Key West this time of year so you may want to think about that before booking your trip during the summer.

Our experience was not enjoyable like other rent key west places we had in the past,in fact we wrote a letter to the rental co. and got no response so we did not rent from you this year. the castaway was a good location only. the upstairs bedroom air/fan did not work we called someone and they came over but said there was really nothing they could do about it. our adult daughters had to sleep on a pull out couch and cushions on the floor downstairs!!!! we payed for a 2 bedroom and were VERY dissapointed. also we were not told about the remodeling of stone planters all along the out door areas. this was ugly and very loud early in the morning when the cement blasters or drills were on. vacation does NOT mean being woke every morning at 7-8 am. we called and asked questions before renting since we are up in wi. and your office highly recommended this. we would have been better off in a hotel, more comfortable and MUCH cheaper.

The Duval Square Castaway condo is a spacious 2 bed/2bath condo and is a real hidden treasure located within the heart of Key West?s historic district. The unfortunate experience from the former renters have been addressed and remedied. The construction of the planter beds in the common areas (which our office did not have any forewarning as to this going on) has long since been completed, and the upstairs air conditioner is operating in perfect condition. We hope you consider renting this Old Town, Key West condo.

Left on 06/18/2009 for a stay in June 2007
We were thrilled with Duval Square - Castaway. The apartment had many great amenities - two story above stores and restaurants below, great space, 2 person hottub on porch, two bedrooms, wonderful kitchen. But also the building had a very nice pool that overlooked Duval Street. Restuarants in the building were fantastic. If we didn't want to walk far everything we needed was within two blocks. Parking was convenient and we were in walking distance of the Southernmost tip, Butterfly World, and 10 short blocks from Mallory Square.
Check in off the premises was okay - but not that close by. However, it was quick. We arrived during the afternoon. Am not sure how it would be after hours.
I would recommend this property and would gladly stay there again.
