Loughton, United KingdomCasa Serendipity is the perfect place to chill out.
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
There is no doubt Casa Serendipity is the place to stay if you are in Key West. It is far enough away from Duval street to give you a quiet haven but not too far if you want to walk there. My only caution is if you go there in the summer the air conditioners are quite noisy. The beds are very soft and comfy. The kitchen is well equipped but you need to bring all your own food as there are no basic stores in the cupboard. While you are there I can recommend Incas a lovely Peruvian restaurant on White Street a few blocks away.

58120A Great Place to Call Home
Left on 03/20/2012 for a stay in January 2012
I recently returned from an amazing vacation in Key West with my boyfriend, amazing, partly due to it being Key West, and partly due to our incredible accommodations.
People rarely take the time to comment when they have a positive experience, but I feel that where we stayed played such a vital role in our experience that it had to be shared.
We stayed in the Casa Serendipity; a spacious two story home, nestled in the historic district of Key West. In this ideal setting we could easily take part in all that Key West has to offer, as well has be apart from all that Key West has to offer.
The house is naturally shaded by palms and bushes. A large porch spans the front and side of the home, while the back is equipped with a private patio and dipping pool!
Inside is a tastefully decorated living space where we both felt immediately at home.
We have visited Key West many times before and have always stayed in a resort where we felt "on the go" most of the time. This was a totally different experience. We were more relaxed this time. Going out when we wanted and staying in when we wanted...Truly a place to call home! -

Sarasota, FloridaNice little house with just a few negatives
Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We recently stayed at Casa Serendipity and rely heavily on reviews, so thought we would contribute our own.
The house very much fits in the Key West style - it sits directly across the street from the cemetary in a quiet little neighborhood that is (sort of) conveniently located to Duval Street. For the first few days we walked to Duval and, while it was manageable, became tiring due to the distance (roughly 15-20 minute walk each way). By the third day we decided to rent bikes and now wish we would have thought to do this sooner! There is a bike shop at Frances & Truman with very reasonable rates that we will absolutely use again! This enabled us to do much more around Key West without losing the active aspect we enjoyed so much.
Six adults in the house was comfortable for the amount of time we stayed. With only two bathrooms, had we stayed much longer, it may have been just a little frustrating. Also, please note that there are three bedrooms on the second floor and one on the first. The bedroom on the first floor has a queen/double bed and the room is a great size. Two upstairs bedrooms have a king sized bed and one has a twin sleeper - the thing I wish we would have known is the ceiling height upstairs. My husband, at 6'4", was just 1" shy of the ceilings in the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has strange angled ceilings as does the upstairs bathroom - while this wasn't unmanageable, it was also something we wish we would have known prior to booking. There were also plenty of bumped heads on the stairway. Again - it could have been a lot more frustrating had we stayed more than 4 nights.
One reason we chose this house was because it was pet friendly - it was very clean and well kept and it was great to be able to bring our pups along for the trip. However, the narrow and somewhat steep wooden staircase proved a challenge for both dogs and, while the yard is fenced in, we could not allow the dogs outside off their leashes because the underside of the house is exposed and the dogs could have easily crawled under there. This didn't ruin our trip, by any means, but it did limit our time outdoors to enjoy the porch and pool. Just down angela Street (2 blocks) is a small, fenced in dog park that was a great place to let the dogs run around and let out some energy. It's not large, but there is plenty of room for them to run and play.
The pool on the property is very clean and very well kept - it's great for a quick dip to cool off but not large enough for swimming. The patio furniture looked as though it had not been cleaning for some time, so we did not use it. Due to the high temperatures and humidity, this didn't bother us too much, but had it been more pleasant outside, this would have been more disappointing.
There are signs posted all through the house about the 10pm noise ordinance, which I do not believe is disclosed when you book. This worked out fine for us because we did not spend time outside and are not a loud bunch, but it's something to note depending on the dynamics of your party. The houses are very close together, so any outside noise would likely cause a disturbance.
If you are taking a working vacation and plan to use the internet or your cell phone, the service is not all that great - we had a spotty internet connection and were unable to use our cell phones on a few occassions - which we somewhat expected.
Overall, the visit was nice and the house was clean - we will probably try a different location on our next stay to see if we can find a place we absolutely love, but this house was definitely sufficient. -

Left on 06/29/2011 for a stay in June 2011
A group of 6 stayed at this lovely little property from June 23rd ~ 28th, 2011. It is a great little house with a lovely pool. Thank goodness for the pool!! It was very very hot while we were there and the pool was great to jump in and cool off!!! The only complaint I have about outside would be the deck...it gets ridiculously hot, lol!! You had to make your path out to get to the pool before getting up so you could run and not have scorched feet :) !! There is also a little dog across the street that woke us up every morning pretty early with it's barking at other dogs walking by...not fun if you want to sleep in on your vacation!! But that has nothing to do with the house...so moving on!! I loved the bowl of lemons and limes in the dining room...too bad they weren't real, LOL!! I thought they were and figured out after we went to grocery shopping that was not the case...so keep that in mind when you do your grocery shopping :) !!! The overhead height on the staircase is very low...so watch out!! There are signs all the way up and down telling you watch your head but we crack ours a couple times, no biggie, just be careful. The bed I was in was very comfortable and I did not hear anyone else complain about them not being comfy so that was a plus as well!! We loved the fact that 5 Brothers was right around the corner for coffee in the morning and sandwiches in the afternoon...best cuban mix sandwich I have had yet!! It is quite a hoof to Duval St but in the late afternoon and evening it was not too bad!! Going in the heat of the day was a sweatyy mess of a walk but again nothing to do with the house. It is located across the street from the cemetary. But we never really felt creeped out by that aspect. I am looking forward to our next trip to Key West and would book with Key West Vacation Rentals again!! If I had any complaints about the rental it would be not being able to do a late check out if the house is not booked the next day. We were able to get into the house earlier than expected so that was great too!!!

What a great house in a quite neighborhood. It is far enough from to Duval St. to be an oasis, but close enough to walk there. The beach is walkable for the fit individual, but it made more sense to drive. Parking in Key West is tough so on site parking was compact, but much appreciated.
My family is quiet group, but if you plan late night swims be aware that you are warned of the 10:30pm curfew! The houses are very close together.
The linens are changed daily, but I had to be persistent for this to happen. One afternoon I didn't make the second call (9 am and 3pm)because we were snorkeling, as a result we didn't have clean towels. This would not have been a problem,
but we had been instructed to leave the dirty towels outside in a pile for pick up!
Bug spray essential for June evenings on the porch.
Kitchen has the basics.
Ants as regular visitors is a theme in the guest book. They show up but did not present a problem and did not hitch a ride for a PA vacation.
The grounds are as beautiful as the on line photos suggest. In all we were pleased with our choice of home in Key West.

Key West Wedding 2009

Left on 07/03/2009 for a stay in June 2009
The house was great & everything about it. Just a couple comments about Key West Vacation Rentals.
When we called a few months ahead we were told we could pay with two separate credit cards b/c there was three separate families staying in the house & we were splitting the cost three ways. When we arrived we were told that the whole amount had to be put on one card! I guess we were just disappointed b/c we were told that we could use the three cards and when we got there we could not! :( It kind of put us all in a bind b/c two of the three families did not have enough on their cards so I had to put the total on mine. It was not a big deal on my end but theirs is it really still a hassle! They had to return the deposit amount and then charge the total amount to one card. This was very disappointing b/c when you are told something you expect it is the truth & it was not unfortunately!!!
When we got to the house the pool was really nasty and black, the pump was not running & it really looked like a swamp! We called and someone came over rather quickly. I believe his name was Rick & he was EXCELLENT!!! He fixed the problem but it did take him about 1.5 hours. The pool had not been checked in a few days, so it had been sitting there like that for a few days. The problem was fixed & that was MUCH appreciated & like I said RICK WAS WONDERFUL!!! :)
Other than that, the HOUSE it's self was GREAT. No complaints & we would ALL stay there again!
We were there for our wedding & it was great for the whole family to stay together! It was a perfect size home & very comfortable...felt like home!
Thank You

We stayed for two nights in Casa Serendipity on our fantastic tour around the south of Florida. We have been travelling to Florida for years but have never got down to Key West so this was a long hankered for experience and the accomodation did not let us down. As I was travelling with my husband, mum and brother this was a perfect place to stay. There was plenty of room for us all (and then some!) and everything was to a high standard. The house is just beautiful and was perfect to come home to each evening. We walked into the main centre of old Key West each day which took about 15 minutes but was a lovely walk giving us the chance to see all the different sorts of houses and random chickens! Key West was an absolute dream destination for us and we can't wait to go back, the house was the absolute cherry on the cake. We just can't believe that we got the chance to stay in such a lovely home.

The house was just lovely, and suited our purpose. We were two adult couples, and one solo adult, and we had adequate room for everyone. It would have been nice though, if we could have moved the 2 twins together in one of the upstairs bedroom to have that as an option to sleep in, but couldn't be done due to the frames. The house was charming, nicely decorated, with ample space to prepare and eat meals. It was also very clean, and kept very clean during our stay. We loved the neighborhood, but didn't realize that it was a bit further from Duval street than we expected. My only issue is it would have been nice to have a slightly larger pool so we could swim a bit more. I would definitely recommend this house highly.

We gathered from all over the country to celebrate Christmas and a couple of big birthdays. Ours is an adult family and Casa Serendipity was perfect for us. It's well-kept, clean, not fancy, extremely well equipped kitchen and the maid service made our week a real vacation. We recommend it highly for family gatherings. BTW, bike rentals were a no-brainer and delivered to our door, complete with locks and lights. Since the upstairs bedrooms all shared one bath, it might be tough for four couples, but for family, no problem. We loved Casa Serendipity.

My family stayed at this location and found it to be absolutely perfect! It was within walking distance of the excitement of Duvall St. while still being far enough away not to hear the noise at 3:00 in the morning. The pool was wonderfully refreshing, the home very clean and comfortable and the wrap around porch was absolutely divine! I will definitely vacation there again.

Five of my highschool friends and I hold an annual reunion in various cities and resort areas throughout U.S. We rented this home for our trip to Key West and were very pleased. We loved the home and found it well equipped and maintained. We especially enjoyed returning to the lovely patio and pool in the late afternoons after a hot day of sightseeing. There was plenty of room for all of us, and I would definitely rent this home again if I were to return.

When I gathered a group of friends for a Key West vacation I needed a large house. Casa Serendipity filled the bill, plus had a fabulous patio/pool area. It really worked well for the group and was within walking/biking distance of all restaurants, bars, etc. I enjoyed staying in a residential area and felt like a local. No question I would rent it again for a large group.

We vacation in Key West every Summer, however, this is the first year we've stayed in Casa Seredipity. The house is beautiful, and very roomy. The pool area and gardens are so relaxing and enjoyably. The only negative factor (in our opinion), is the locatiton. Specifically, we usually stay right off of Duval, and enjoy the whole Duval Street, Mallory Square "thing" daily. We still did the same things, however, we drove as it was not a comfortable walk everytime we wanted to go downtown (and had to pay to park if we were able to find a parking spot).

I was in a group of four couples from Ohio who rented this fabulous home in July of 2008. We absolutely loved it! We spent so much time in the pool, which was black-bottomed and had a feel of being in your own private lagoon, and deck area, and took advantage of having our own grill, too. My husband and I were the only ones in our group who had ever been to Key West before, but this was our first time renting a house. This was totally the way to go, in fact, the next time our family vacations to Key West, we will definitely stay at Casa Serendipity! We also loved the quiet neighborhood. After a night on Duval Street, the ten minute walk back to the house was nice and peaceful!

Loved the house, nicely decorated and well kept. Lots of room except you
need to watch your head going down the stairs - low clearance. Nice wrap
around porch and yard with small pool (too cold for me but the kids loved it).
The walk to town (Duval St area) was longer than expected especially since the
house is across from the cemetary (above ground).
