I would not recommend the admiral's Treasure to anyone staying in Key West. The house is large and has nice-sized indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces, but it is severely in need of an update. Most walls had marks or stains on them, and most air vents had monstrous dust-balls. Bath fixtures were out of date and most showers had rust or mildew in the corners. Our biggest complaints about the house were –
1. The house’s décor is cluttered and outdated and not worthy of the very high rental price-point. There is art-work on every inch of the wall; books and knickknacks on every shelf; and odds and ends in every drawer/cabinet. At least 50% of this stuff should go to Goodwill or an antique store.
2. The galley kitchen is not just small and cluttered, it is an after-thought. Mix-matched pots and pans (with years of residue and build-up on them), hodge-podge of plates and glassware, and the dish washer took 2 hours to clean a load. Fake plants hanging from the top of the cabinets shimmered in dust and grit build-up.
3. Except for the small roof deck, all of the outdoor spaces—including two floors of patio and a beautiful wading pool—are shaded 100% of the day. The jungle-like foliage in the backyard and giant green awning completely cover these areas (maybe to hide the sight of airplanes landing right over the house).
4. The house has 4 bathrooms, 5 sinks, 2 washers, a dishwasher, and one ‘on-demand’ water heating system. Hand-written note instructs to not run more than two showers at once—an under-statement and an insult. When you rent a house at this premium price-point, guests should not have to create a shower schedule!
All in all – as a guest who stayed in this house, I encourage anyone considering this rental property to negotiate on the price or take a pass on this over-valued treasure. -

Traveled to Crazy Key West with 3 other couples and stayed in the Truman annex at admiral's Treasure! The house was in the perfect location being walkable to everything!! The house was fully loaded and a great outdoor living space too! Pool was heated and sometimes too warm as it was warm outside. It is heated by a solar panel on the roof...very green. The only real notable problem was the regulation of hot/cold water...that was sooo weird. Also one of the bedrooms had no air conditioning...some thing had to be broken! For the $$ you pay for this house, these items should have been taken care of before our arrival! All in all was a fantastic time!!
