Under the shade of the Royal Poinciana tree stands this wonderfully restored "Conch" cottage. Just half a block from the Ernest Hemingway home and Duval Street, everything is within walking distance. This home opens out to a covered deck and a "must see" dramatic lagoon pool. With a swimming lane and lounging area, this pool is quite a treat. A spiral staircase leads you to a second story sundeck where you can sunbathe, or for romantics, experience a starlit island evening. The entire vacation rental property is surrounded by tropical gardens.

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in May 2012
House was adorable, immaculate and perfectly located. 1 block off of Duval. Very quiet, but close to everything. No car needed. Pool is incredible. The only thing we didn't particularly care for was the enormous iguana that perched in the tree over the pool and did his business...oh well, you can't control nature! lol

Fort LauderdaleAwesome House!
Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This is the first time we rented this property. We stayed for 10 days in april 2012 with our two dogs and loved the house! We used to live in KW and cannot say enough kind words for Historic Hideaways. They are excellent to work with.
The house is great - although if two couples are staying it isn't going to provide complete privacy as one of the beds is adjacent to the kitchen in an open area. It was fine for us however since it was just the two of us.
The deck, pool and upper deck perfect for relaxing. I was surprised how quiet the street (Olivia) considering between Whitehead and Duval. We were never bothered by noise in the area.
Rent this house - you won't be disappointed!

New York CityWonderful Stay at the Poinciana House
Left on 05/02/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We stayed at the Poinciana House apr 7 - Apr 15 and had an excellent experience. The house is in a great location, just off Duval Street and walking distance (for us at least) to everything in Old Town. The pool is simply marvelous and even better than we expected. We enjoyed it all times of the day, especially after heating up on the roof deck! The house itself is very nice and has everything you need. The only minor issues could be that (1) the part of the front room where the bed is located is kind of an alcove and doesn't cool off like the rest of the room; and (2) the second bed is basically in the combined kitchen/living room. While these are the only things keeping me from giving it 5 stars, these didn't really bother us though and having 2 bathrooms was great. Overall we loved the house and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I'm almost afraid to say how much we loved this place because it may be booked when we want it again. It was exactly what we had hoped for. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere. And the house is wonderful. The pool is worth the price alone. We spent a lot of time here because it was so comfortable and relaxing ... and our dog Chico loved it too! We can't wait to visit again, though we may just move to Key West.

had a great time. Lovely home, close to everything. beautiful pool. if you're a light sleeper, it may take you a day or two to get used to the crowing roosters in the area.
I would recommend this place to a couple or small family or very close friends (due to the sleeping arrangements). All in all, a lovely place and I would definitely return to this rental property! -

We really enjoyed the rental house. the pool is nicer than you can tell in the photos. It is heated, which came in handy for us. It is not a hot tub even thought there are jets. Beth at Historic Hideaways was extremely nice and helped us to store luggage until our departure from key west. the house allowed two couples to stay with privacy. We grilled one night when watching football. So we got lots of use from our home away from home. go enjoy.

We stayed there the last week of fantasy fest with our two great pyrenees. The yard and high fence wereI perfect for them and the pool is definitely the highlight. I would say that the layout is really more for one couple and maybe a child , but two couples would be a bit crowded. It was a great location and we had no problems.

Naples, FloridaHad a great time - fabulous private pool
Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Web site claimed property had wireless internet access - not true; claimed property had washer/dryer, but we could not locate it. When we asked the rental agent, we were told it is located outside in a shed-type setting - we found it, but it was covered with dry leaves . The outside propane grill was dirty and we could not open the tank. It would have been helpful, considering the amount of the weekly rental, that towel and linen service was provided at least once during our stay.

Manager
Hi John,
Our website did not /does not say the unit has Internet Access. *Future potential guests...please be sure you check our website (as opposed to third party sites) for correct info*. Not sure how the Washer/Dryer being in a shed on the side of the house means it doesn't have one(?) That said, I can see how the Cleaners may have missed the Grill, and I apologize for that. Had you let us know, I would have sent someone that day, again, I apologize. Bill - Property Manager 305.294.3064. -

The house is in a great location. We did not have a vehicle and relied on bikes and traveling by foot. We spent most of our time in the pool; skip the beaches! The pool was fantastic! It was a wonderful time! I hope to return soon.

Left on 07/07/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We were so impressed with our stay at the Poinciana. We had two couples staying. The cotttage is designed perfectly for privacy with two distinct living areas. The front room is large and has living area, bedroom nook, nice sized bath, window aC, wall mounted TV, and a small private patio that leads to the pool. The back half of the house has all of the same amenities but includes the kitchen and dining area with doors leading to the pool. We were able to adjust the separate ac's to suit us, watch our own Tv's (but I don't think either couple ever turned one on), and have access to the gorgeous pool and deck area without intruding on our friends' privacy. Perfect for "sneaking out" for a late night swim! Just across the street from the Hemingway house, and centrally located to everything. Trust us, this is the MacDaddy of places to stay in Key West!

If you want the perfect vacation with a special location...privacy, nearby fantastic places to eat, close to nightlife but away from the noise...This I it! Crepes around the corner...close to the Hemingway house...a walk to Blue heaven...and the shops. do yourself a favor and rent this place! This is the second time we have stayed at this property, and plan to return for several years to come. Just a half block from Duval Street, it is in the perfect location to take in all the sights and hospitality of Key West, but then you can "disappear" in the back of the house where you feel isolated from everyone else. In our opinion, this beats staying at any of the B&B or hotel properties. You have a washer/dryer on site, a full kitchen, a wonderful pool and sun deck and none of the frustrations of sharing these with strangers.

Overall an okay experience, but there were some things that were disappointing. The pool is entirely shaded and the only way to get any sun was to climb a tight spiral staircase to a tarred roof top...plastic lounge chairs.....Very Hot (think cat on a hot tin roof!) I spent a week in Key West and didn't get a sun tan! Also, they told us there would be washer and dryer and when we got there they didn't work...we had packed assuming we would have one.
Wouldn't rent this one again, but would use the management company again. -
Happy and Tan in Cincy
Cincinnati, OhioFlawless Retreat.
Left on 06/15/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Because we're not particularly 2-wheel inclined and had decided walking would permit us more extravagant dinners ... we often only made it "home" after our longer sojourns because we knew the calm, quiet and lagoon-pool equipped Poinciana house awaited us. It was the perfect respite from the heat when we had too much.
Our week long residence was perfectly located ... close enough to the Duval Street action to make sure we didn't miss much and tucked far enough down a side street to insure quiet when that was what was needed.
The associated staff was wonderful. Keith who took care of the pool ... along with many other pursuits ... made some great restaurant and music suggestions at our urging. When we believed the washing machine was broken ... someone arrived, literally, within 5 minutes to repair it. Turns out - we weren't closing the lid hard enough. Was he frustrated? Not at all. He laughed right along with us.
The Poinciana House was clean, comfortable, beautiful. It was a luxury for us and we hoped for months that the real deal would live up to the on-line photos. Well, it far surpassed the photos. The house is charming. The garden is exquisite. The pool is a dream. And the sun roof is the reason we're the tannest people in Cincinnati right now.
By all means, treat yourself to The Poinciana House.

Great vacation rental, great location! Just a few minor details... Sun decking is very hot on the feet.(rolled roofing shingles) A wooden deck would solve the problem.Double bed only in bedroom which is located at the front of the house and can be a little noisy! bathrooms are dark and lighting poor! Left on 05/11/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Great house, excellent location, we were there on our honeymoon. House would be good for a small family or couple that are really close as there really aren't separate bedrooms. Everything is pretty much as advertised. Staff at Historic Hideaways were very helpful and we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The only thing we would change would be the wild chickens that seem to be prevalent on key west. Bring your earplugs for a good night's sleep, or buy them at the drugstore, as the roosters start crowing about 2am. Overall, definitely met or exceeded all of our expectations!

Nice house, good location, loved the pool. The layout is a bit strange - you enter through the bedroom (which also has a futon) then continue through another area with a bed to get to the kitchen/dining/living area, so only the bedroom is closed off from the rest of the house.
The pool was great - with regular visits from chickens and large iguanas.
Would stay again and Historic Hideaways was great to work with. -

Awesome pool and patio, flowers everywhere!
Left on 08/15/2008 for a stay in June 2008
I can't say enough about how beautiful this property is. Lots of flowers, the Royal Poinciana tree is very unique. The pool is awesome and the patio on the back of the house leads right into the pool. The decor is very Key West and I loved it. We did have one problem, the AC went out in the living room/kitchen area ON MY WEDDING DAY! There is an AC unit in the bedroom that still worked. It was difficult to get ready with 2 bridesmaids, hair and makeup lady, photographer and the videographer all in the bedroom. It was later in the day (after 4pm) that we realized the AC wasn't working and I was told that we would have to wait until tomorrow to have it replaced. They said it was a unique window unit and weren't able to just go out and buy a new one.
With that being said, it would highly recommend this property to anyone and I hope to stay there when I return someday.Response from Historic Hideaways - 04/18/2009
