We were blown away by this beautiful condo. Everything was clean and fully stocked. The beds were comfortable. The outside brick patio is huge and very private. We spent a lot of our time sitting out there drinking wine. This condo in particular is at the end of a street. The location is directly next to the little White House. It is walking distance to Duval Street but far enough away to be quiet at night. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to our friends!

Just returned home from a week at Island Spice... the place was clean, well kept and well stocked. There were 2 adult couples and this condo is the perfect place for 2 couples, private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms in each. Both bedrooms are equal and on opposite sides of the condo with private stairs to each. The location is also fantastic, 1 block from everything in the Mallory Square area of Old Town. You will not be disappointed!

First experience in Key West was highlighted by the location and quality of the Island Spice townhouse. The location in the foundry section of Truman annex was beautiful and quiet. Only a couple blocks from both Duval St. and Mallory Square, yet so quiet that you would think you were staying in the countryside. Front Street itself was beautiful to just walk. Irish Spice offered all amenities one would expect from a high end vacation spot. Townhouse was spotless. Response to any issues (one) was followed up on and corrected in a timely fashion. Someone always available to talk to 7 days a week. Having a washer/dryer and I/2 bath downstairs was very handy and used often. Loved the private patio with the large table and 6 chairs. At night, did not hear a sound which made for an uninterrupted good nights sleep. It's location and it's cleanliness made it the place to return to in the future...which we will.
Very good experience.

Very nice layout. It is different, in a good way from the other units in the Foundry section. Great patio. Two minor problems. The upstairs bath cold water faucet handle kept falling off and there were no beach chairs. As great fans of Taylor beach, it meant renting beach lounge chairs for $10 each for the two of us, every day of the week.
Exactly What We Wanted
Left on 12/25/2013 for a stay in December 2013 | JTD
Island Spice was exactly what we wanted: well laid out, well equipped, quiet but close to the action, clean, bright, and very comfortable. The Truman annex is a wonderful location - clean, well cared for, but not without a few roosters and geckos so that you know you are in Key West! The beds were the most comfortable for a rental that we have ever experienced. Plenty of towels, toilet paper, and coffee filters. A few blocks and we could watch the sunset, walk Duval St., and we could easily get to hidden gems as well (those out of the way places with great food). A quick bike ride to the best beach (Zachary Taylor Park). It's a bit challenging to enjoy the patio after dark or cook on the grill - there isn't much lighting, and the taxi and bike drivers couldn't find the place - but that's small stuff compared to how much we enjoyed staying at Island Spice. Key West has a laid back vibe but there is plenty to do.

We had a wonderful holiday in 10 days in this house, can be recommended for everyone, we where a family of 5 people and enjoys both location and house a lot. Perfect if you have car but also excellent without car since location is close to both beach and city center. Recommended !

This is the perfect location and the perfect rental. It is quiet and great inside and out. Four adults stayed here it was relaxing and beautiful . Must go to zachery park the view of the water is awesome. Couch republic best shrimp. Flying monkey best frozen drinks. Your a block away from mallory square. You are in a gated community so at 6p they lock so you need your key to get in. The main gate is open but it is a walk.
You are a few blocks from all the action. Best way to get around is bikes. Must go on a sunset cruise best way to enjoy the view. We loved our stay everyone was awesome. We would come back to this place

From the moment we opened the door all our stress melted away. The condo was beautiful, well kept, and well appointed with all the amenities one could need. It's close enough to all the action on Duval Street, Mallory Sq, Sunset pier but also far enough to get some r&r; if that's what you need. I strongly recommend you grab the beach chairs (provided) towels and your sunscreen and walk to Ft Zachary Taylor State Park. Great beach and snorkeling.

This place is magic. We walked to Mallory Square, Duval Street, and all the great places in Key West. The unit is beautifully kept, and set up for comfort. We went fishing and enjoyed our catch on the grill and outdoor patio. All the conveniences of home with a touch of elegance.

This is our second time at Island Spice and as usual it was wonderful. We've been visiting Key West at least once a year for the past twenty plus years and the service and the friendly, helpful people at at Home In Key West have been bringing us back year after year. Island Spice is beautiful and as close to feeling like home as any place we have stayed in Key West. The location couldn't be much better, as everything is within walking distance. We always recommend at Home In Key West to all our family and friends.

My husband and I along with my nephew and his wife stayed at Island Spice for the 2nd week of July 2012. Though the pictures online are accurate they do not do the home justice. The place is just beautiful and absolutely perfect for 2 couples. Each bedroom having it's own bath and a separate entrance off the staircase was ideal. The 1/2 bath downstairs and washer/dryer were great to have also. Located adjacent to Truman's Little White House and just a couple of blocks from Mallory Square, the condo offered the best of both worlds - quiet and peaceful in the annex with entertainment just a few steps away from the gate. We rented a car but it sat for days since it's so much easier to get around on bicycles. The swimming pool was just across the street and, though small, it was clean and cool. We would absolutely rent Island Spice again and if you're considering it, rent it - you will not regret it!

It took us a few minutes to find this condo tucked away in Truman annex but it was a beautiful place once we did find it. We had everything we needed for the week. The patio area was nice and shaded for us to relax outside. We walked and biked everywhere. Whenever we had a question or problem, the rental agency was quick to repsond. I would recommend this place to anyone and may even stay here again if we are in Key West again.

We loved the decor of Island Spice. We loved the location. We loved having cocktails on the large patio. We loved the bedrooms and baths. We loved that they provided beach chairs and towels. We disliked the lack of comfort of the pullout couch. We were disappointed that the complex had workers and their trucks start work at 8am. But my family had priceless memories that will last a lifetime and glad that Island Spice was a fantastic home for a week!!
This place was just what we hoped it would be.

I would recommend Island Spice to anyone. The place is set up with everything you need. Very clean and the location is about as good as you can get. Parking was available for only one car. The beds were very comfortable, although the pull out couch mattress was not. I was amazed at everything that was available at Spice Island.
Beautiful and in the perfect location.

This property worked out great for our family. Really enjoyed our stay. We had 6 adults and 2 toddlers, so our space needs were quite demanding. The patio is large and very useful right off the kitchen and living room. Our only complaint was that the pullout couch was not the most comfortable, however this is largely to be expected. Once we applied an additional feather comforter at night, it was a big help. Also of note, the separate staircases allowed for privacy between the two rooms. Lots of steps!

I have been forever spoiled after staying at Island Spice. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Key West. This elegant home is beautifully decorated and eqipped with everything you could ever need during a vacation. The building itself is charming with the brick exterior and inviting back porch. The house was spotlessly clean and had every modern comfort one could need from internet to a Keurig coffeemaker. I also loved the location. You are a few minutes walk from Mallory Square, Duval Street, and amazing restaurants. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay a perfect escape in paradise. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to stay in your little piece of heaven!!!

we enjoyed the house. Our first night there the temperature in the house was 80 degrees. Attempted to set the temperature down on the thermostat but could only set to 74. There was no way around it. Contacted the emergency number. Told her it was cooling. We never received a phone call from the agency asking if problem was fixed. Received a phone call from agency stating someone coming over on Saturday to fix dryer. we were gone during day but dryer was not fixed in fact we had to hang clothes out to get dried. Other than these few problems, place was great. Can't get any better than the Truman annex. We will come back for sure. Read more

Thank you for taking the time to review our home. We so pleased to know you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the dryer, the previous guest had mentioned the dryer issue and we worked in a "quick fix" before your arrival. We had a second thought about disturbing your visit on Saturday and decided to wait until your departure to repair it. We did not realize that you were having difficulty with it or would certainly have sent someone in right away. We apologize for the inconvenience it caused during your visit.

We had just had the worst winter with snowfalls giving us over 100 inches of snow. We landed in key west to perfect weather and a beautiful condo. We've rented in the Foundry building before and found Island Spice to be quite exceptional. It was recently rennovated and is quite stunning with beautuful art and high quality furniture. Couches, chairs and beds were extremely comfortable.
The pool area had new furniture but the pool itself is too small for the many condos it supports. Renting from at
Home was even easier than in previous years. The staff
was great. We hope to rent again next year.

The Truman annex is such a beautiful complex, just a picture perfect setting. The Island Spice condo is an excellent location, within walking distance to everything, and so well laid out with the split bedrooms upstairs. It was a big part of making our vacation in Key West perfect. Thanks to the staff at "At Home In Key West" for guiding me to the Island Spice.

The condo was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The only issue was the themostat ( we weren't sure how to lower the temperature and get it to stay there) so we just lowered it once in a while to where we felt comfortable. Close to everything but still quite enough to get away from all the hustle and bustle. We have been using at Home In Key West at least once a year for over fifteen years and we are never disapointed. My family of four stayed at Island Spice for a week and we were very
comfortable. This was our first experience staying in Key West outside of a
luxury hotel and we were very pleased. The condo was clean and well stocked
with the essential supplies needed to make quick snacks and a pizza. We
figure that part of the whole experience of Key West is eating out so we didn't
spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but someone certainly could have. Our only
disappointment was the ceramic floors were a bit dirty and our bare feet were
proof of that. But, other than that everything was perfect. The linens were well
stocked and there is a washer & dryer in the room so we always had plenty of
towels. If you expect or need fresh linens and towels brought to you each day
(we certainly don't) then you may want to stay at the Hyatt. My family fends
for itself very well and we don't need cleaning services or fresh towels so
Island Spice was perfect for us! We will definitely stay there again.

Loction for rental was great. Short walk to see the sunset as well as all the happenings on Duval street. Downside was the community pool which accomodates only 7 people at once...gets rather cozy quickly, rather small for the number of condos it has to accomodate. Island Spice is for sale and realtor was bringing people through quite often which didn't allow for too much privacy. We were looking for a relaxing vacation that if we wanted to lounge in pj's all day we could, nap whenever and that just couldn't happen when people were coming through to tour the condo. Wish we would have known it was for sale ahead of time because we wouldn't have stayed here.
I didn't feel like I was on vacation.

I had great anticipation of our vacation in Key West. On arrival, I was immediately struck by how dark the house was. The patio was unkept with too many overgrown trees. Most of them dead. The entire downstairs of the unit was shrouded in darkness with inadequate lighting inside. There was not enough adequate comfortable furniture for relaxing inside or out. The linens were scarce. We had to go out and buy bath towels. Not exactly what I want to buy when on vacation. The bed linens were substandard. Not enough blankets and without a decent pillow a good night's sleep was nearly impossible. I will say the house was clean but the glasses in the cabinets smelled like a sour dish rag. One morning we woke up to hundreds of ants crawling all over the kitchen. There is no pantry for food so our groceries were all over the counter. I believe we paid a total of $3900. for the week. For that I could have stayed in a 5 star hotel. Oh, not having a grill is ridiculous. We went out and bought a small charcoal grill only to find out from the nosey neighbor that they are not allowed. Would have been nice if some rules had been posted. One final complaint, we actually had a call from a realtor. He wanted to show the house, suggesting we leave for 2 hours. I was on vacation for God's sake!!! I would never consider renting this home again. It was not worth the money!

Great location - we didn't use our car until Thursday after arriving in Key West the previous Saturday. Felt very secure in the Truman Annex. Within a short walk of downtown Key West with more than enough places and activities to keep us busy for a large portion of the week. Saved us oodles of parking fees. Beds very comfortable.

We chose Island Spice based on the recommendation of the At Home In Key West rental agent and we were very pleased. The home is located in the Foundry Building of Truman Annex and the location is great, two blocks to Duval Street, about the same to Mallory Square, less to the cruise ship port. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is walking distance; the swimming pool less than a block. A parking space was provided, not directly in front of the home but only a few spots away. The home is everything we needed, 2 1/2 baths, bedrooms on opposite ends of the upstairs which provided more privacy, laundry room, 3 TV's and high speed internet. The kitchen was adequately stocked, the dining area and living room comfortably furnished. There is a tropical but small gated courtyard with a patio table & chairs, although it was so hot we did not sit out. Everything about Island Spice was positive and we would definately stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

The first unit we were placed in had some plumbing issues. The real estate office quickly moved us to Island Spice, which was perfect for our family and in a great location, close to Mallory Square and Duval Street. The Island Spice unit was very nicely decorated and quite comfortable, a BBQ grill would make a nice addition. We will certainly stay here again.

Stayed at Island Spice which is located in Truman Annex. We never used the car except to go to the grocery store and stock up for the week. Property was great for two couples as each have a bedroom and bath upstairs. The property looks as advertised with nice patio and everything was in working order. Only complaint would be that we did not have many towels or washclothes, so had to wash some during our stay. May have just been an oversight during our stay. Anyway, it is a good property, and I always stay in Truman because I love the location. The cruise ships dock right around the corner, and Mallory Square and Duval Street are steps away!
